That was a stupid way to title this, but please spare me the "yes it does" Assuming we can't re-sign Nate Clements, what about the option of moving Donte Whitner to CB, he as the speed, and is good in coverage, and if I recall during the draft there was even call about it. The two top CB will command major coins, however Safeties make less, Ken Hamlin who came back from injury and Michael Lewis who I believe has been to the pro bowl are both free agents and would be much cheaper than Clements. Just a thought.

I agree, it's not te size of the DT that matters, last year when I wanted Ngata it wasn't only because of his size, he was the best DT in the draft. As much as we shouldn't want a guy only because of his size we shouldn't not want someone because of his size. I think we look to often at what others who run the Cover 2 do, and we, on at the stadium wall, think that we have to match them. I am pretty sure had Dungy had the chance to get Ngata he would have. Plus, sorry to say this but LT is no where nearly as good as Sapp or Tommie Harris. I am still hopeful that McCargo will reach the potential that Marv and Tom see in him, but losing his rookie year will set him back as well.

Is there a Ngata in this next draft?
frogger replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nothing is wrong with him, I think he's the number one DT in the FA market, he just will be overpaid becasue of it, personally having seen him play when he was a gator, I just really never got why he was considered a potential 1st rounder at one time. If he came here cheap, I would take him. But I'd rather have a 1st rounder and use that money for a OLman, since OLmen take longer to groom, I'd rather spend the moeny on one who is ready and able. -
in that one single game he played....come on you didn't witness his greatness? okay he showed potential in his single game, because he looked like a taller Winfield, and I like winfield, so potential it is.
-
I tried to not take into consideration that they were rookies, as a rookie playing Free safety he got an A as a player (regardless of years) I gave him a C+ his potential is great, and I think he'll be a good one

with one almost meaningless game left, unless you consider how important it would be to say Buffalo had an 8-8 season, which means a lot considering what experts were saying before the season began. Lets grade the positions Coaching-I give them a A- remember this is a young team with a new O and new D, it could have been a higher grade had we converted on the 4th down play two days ago, but they handled JP well, they changed around the OL which helped a lot. QB-JP started off the same old JP (adios turd nuggets-one person will get that and laugh) But looked much better after the Bye, while the jury is still out he shows the heart, and ability to be a leader in Buffalo, B RB-much was expected from McGahee, less was from Thomas, Thomas played well in backing up McGahee, take away the two Jets games and Mcgahee had a terrible year. as a 1st round pick he let us down C- would have been a D had thomas not played well a few times. FB-yeah I grade the FB, and Shelton gets a C, not much of threat out of the backfield and gets out ran, not much was expected from him, he will never make us forget about Mueller, gardner, Gash or even Centers. WR-we found our go to guy, but after that we have no one, Price had a few good moments as did Parrish and Reed all three would be great 3rd WR however we need a 2. Overall B, I think they saved JP a lot. TE-I still feel this is a need position as time went on it got better, Royal would make a great 2nd TE. B- good blocking and a few good catches, just one too few LT-We found a winner Jason Peters gets an A, after being placed there at the midway point it made a huge difference on that side LG-I give Gandy a B, a few times he made mistakes in pass blocking, but he is a good run blocker. Center-Fowler-I think we found a center, nothing too special but he might be the best center we've had since the other 67, 10 years ago B+ RG-Preston had a few good moments but doesn't look to be anything more than a back up IMHO C RT-would have been a A if Peters stayed, but I give him a B...as a late pick nothing was expected of him, few thought he'd make the team, but Penington showed potential, at first he got help from the TE but as time went on he was the reason Royal became more involved in the passing game. He needs to make the next jump. RE-Schobel gets an A+ had a great year...did exactly what a RE does in a Cover 2...see Rice and Freeney if you disagree LE-the combination of Kelsey and Denney turned out great A- 12 sacks combined is very good. DT-looks to be our biggest need this offseason, I give them a D....Tripplett had moments, but sometimes I think he was trying to show off how explosive he can be, forcing himself almost out of the play completely. Williams showed promise but is a back up, Anderson should be playing elsewhere next year, and McCargo got injured before we could really tell if he was going to make much of an impact. we gave up far too much up the middle this year. ROLB-Crowell is going to be a star, if he returns healthy the Indy game showed how good he can be B+ I also am including Ellison who is a very good back up and special teamer ILB-Fletcher-baker is very good, made some key stops but also made a lot of mistakes he is not a dominating LB but a guy who makes lot of tackels, sometimes 10 yards down field. B yeah I said it. LOLB- gets a B the combination of Crowell and Spikes wasn't bad, and as the season went on Spikes showed more and more ability, but I think he'll be better next year. CB-clements had his best year, A Other CB-McGee had his worse year, C+ 3rd CB-Youboty showed potential and I thought Thomas was good in run support B SS-Whitner played very well, but I was always waiting for the big hit. B, FS-Simpson gets a C+ I thought he was slow to the ball sometimes and isn't a good tackler, he will forever be shown in that LT run. K-I don't blame Lindell, he was honest, but at the same time I want a kicker who will show the guts to try. A-, had a good year overall P-Moorman, with the exception of the inability to make a little pass, he had a great year, A...I took away the plus because he throw it behind Peters...come on Moorman! KR-never broke one but Mcgee got us good field position A PR-Parrish-I hold my breathe every time he catches the ball, after the Miami game I waned to kill him. B+ because of that game, or it would have been an A- Punt Coverage-A, we have two great gunners when we punt, but on kickoffs I thought we looked scared so they get B feel free to do you own, just trying to get an idea of where we stand

Is there a Ngata in this next draft?
frogger replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are really no free agents in this years class at DT, outside of Ian Scott ( )whom someone will overpay for. I believe we are no longer re-building, we're built, we need vets that can make an impact as role players...Hollis thomas has always been a good player that gets little attention, yes he's old and sure he's a stopgap, but we need Stopgaps too. Good teams are made that way. I saw Okoye play a few times this year as well, I never saw his weight listed, or I just didn't notice it, if he's lost that much weight I don't consider it a bad thing, I think it shows his ability to stay in shape which was a concern earlier in his career. -

with our current cap, and assuming we spend some money, I don't think we'll draft OL first, I think we can re-sign Gandy and sign a top free agent like Steinbach, move gandy to RG and Steinbach at his natural LG. at around the 15th to 20th expect Okam and Branch to be long gone, , tank Tyler who played with McCargo in college, had a great senior year, his weight is somewhere between 305-330, and is squatty. the other is Amobi Okoye, I really like him for a lot of reasons, first though he's a senior he's only 20...he played as a freshman at the age of 16......think about that what were you doing at 16? he was playing against interior linemen sometimes 8 years older than him. and taking college level classes (he is really smart, at 12 he was a freshman in high school). at 6'1" (ish) and about 315 he would be the ideal NT for this team, but I would bring in a free agent, one with lots of years and has a good track record i.e. Hollis Thomas who I believe is a free agent again. That leave two odd men out, unless we keep 5. -
not sure if this has been said before, I am too lazy to look and I wasn't here to look monday, but if there ever was a better time to use that fake field goal with Peters getting the shovel pass that was it. The play call is what bothered me, we needed 5 yards not a TD. Josh reed has made a living the last few weeks getting 5 yard first downs

WHAT A CLUTCH PERFORMANCE BY PRO-BOWL AARON!
frogger replied to Hammond's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We needed the Jets game, that was a big game, without that one we couldn't have lost this one with meaning. Schobel was great in that game, even the almighty Bruce had games where he made no impact at all. the entire defense did not make plays Sunday, not only Schobel, but Mcgee and our LBs. a RE couldn't change the outcome of the game, we couldn't stop the run, and any pass rusher that left containment resulted in Young being able to roll or run, When young rolledi it forces the DBs and LBs to look back resulting in their man getting open. So defending young was a team effort not changable by one single player. the best way to defend him would have been a 3-4, stoping the inside run with a big body(we don't have) and having the speed to contain on the outside (we have, but we don't run) But it starts in the middle. in our current 4-3 I think it showed the importance of getting a NT that can hold up two guys and still fight to the ball, Kyle Williams is a great back up, and on passing downs will serve well. Tim Anderson should not be back next year, he is holding a very improtant roster spot that belongs to anyone else -
i too enjoyed it, but rocky 1-5, yes even five are some of my favorite movies, if it's on I am watching, I have the VHS and DVDs too, and yet if it's on the tube i am still watching it. So unless it was really bad I was going to really like it, and I did

Let me just start off saying that I hate this time of year, It wasn't always this way, several years ago I remember enjoying it, maybe because I was a kid at the time. This year is more difficult than years past. This is my first Christmas alone, my marriage ended this year, while it had too, it still makes it hard. I grew up in Western NY and being in Orlando doesn't help, it's 75 degrees outside, and I have no family in this area. If there are any people out there like me, I want to let you know you are not alone.

honestly even if it was perfect, it's not Young's arm that concerns me. I was hoping for Ideal weather, it would help our special teams. the way to win is simple, don't turn the ball over, (run the ball a lot, take your chances but don't go crazy) win on special team (the key to this is field position, we'll have to punt during the game at some point, it will be better to kick from the 40 than the 20..Duh) Stop the run, if the bills do not turn the ball over, which would give them great field position, pin them in the 20's and get out to an early lead this will stop the run, then the weather will be in effect. another thing I think we'l see is the 4-4 that we saw against the Jags, taking out a corner and bringing in Coy Wire.

Do you think the Bills will have interest
frogger replied to stuckincincy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
if washington has grown out of that attitude it's only because he is like 30, he was a 25 or 26 year old rookie. truth is they both have issues I think if one free agent WR interests Buffalo, he will be playing against them tomorrow, (Bennett) But this draft is extremely deep in WRs if Rice, Jarrett, and Johnson declare and it is expected at least 2 of 3 will. -
Was that Pat Williams or Big Ted?
frogger replied to Buffalo Mike1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the only problem is that this years draft class might not produce that, comparing it to last years there is no Ngata, Alan Branch-is a junior and if he declares (expected) he will be a top ten pick...we are not in the top ten Quinn Pitcock-is undersized and would be a 3, we need a nose. Okam could be the answer but his stock has been up and down too. tank tyler-would be an excellent NT, reminds me of Booger, when he was in college. Amobi Okoye-would be my choice in the 2nd round, he is only 20, having started his college career at 16. He has the size, is exlpossive and is smart. I think we address this in the 2nd round...assuming we can get at least one OLman in free agency and re-sign gandy. i still feel we have to get another Offensive play maker in the 1st....I'm thinking. Sidney rice Dwayne Jarrett Jeff Samardzija-my choice, has great size and great ball skills. and where we are drafting it might be the best choice assuming he doesn't play Baseball instead -
Was that Pat Williams or Big Ted?
frogger replied to Buffalo Mike1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ron Edwards would have fit this defense almost perfectly, he was very athletic and at 320 had the size to play the nose. I think he only signed a one year deal with KC, but I'd take Ian Scott, or a vet like Hollis thomas (who I believe signed a 1 year deal with NO) Thank god we got Kyle Williams, imagine had we not drafted him, and instead had to see more Tim Anderson in there. It's not that he isnt good, he gets to where he needs to be, however doesn't make plays, and has the weakest hands in the NFL. -

The Top 10 Saddest Songs in the World
frogger replied to Tux of Borg's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Hurt, the Johnny Cash version, it just seems more painful "Brick" Ben Folds Five, come on the song is about abortion, and how his girlfriend wanted to have it done and he didn't...thats sad. while I am at it, "smoke" by BFF too simon and garfunkel's beloved little sparrow (not really sure if that is the name) but the song is about rejection until he dies. goodnight Saigon by Billy joel "Goobye my lover" is a hard one to listen to for me, every now and then I hear it on the radio, and I have to turn...just went through a divorce. agree with that christmas shoe song, I hate that song, but hear every year. LDN is a happy song? the song is about scenes on the street, including an old lady being assulted. -

If i were Levy and company, after showing the love to clements and LFB, we need to hit the media, stop the CBA talk, that sends a negative message to free agents. we don't need to spend the entire cap, but get at least 1 top flight free agent not already on the team, also, don't release any vets!!!!!! If we release Spikes that would send a very negative message! give the would be free agents the idea that yes this is a team on the rise and we have a few areas were we'd like to upgrade. and buffalo is a wonderful city were the fans love the players. it could be a very productive off season....I am not saying that the season is over, the better we play the next two weeks the more attractive a place buffalo becomes,
-
so if NE wins out-possible Indy revenges last weeks loss-possible Jax continues to play bad-possible Miami revenges their mistakes and defeat the Jets,-hopefully possible I am hoping that mcnair doesn't play us the last week and have already clinched a bye...that would set up a steeler like game...hopefully we can win there is a chance, but first we have to beat Tenn. lets go ahead and say this is a travis henry vs willis game, lets not think about the playoffs and lets hope that Mcgahee is up for the challenge
-
I am not saying that I came up with the idea, because there is no way the coaches would listen to us, but during one of those offseason rants that we do, i suggested giving him his old number 25 back, and making him a 3rd down back. high five

My ex mother in law had it, sadly it was one of several things that helped end my marriage to her daughter. She is fine today, she thought it was the end of the world when she found out, but all is well. If she found out early, she has little to worry about. Best of luck, remember to be there for her, that is all you can do.

Pennington reminds me of Hicks....okay, before you say that Hicks was terrible he did have one good year, in 98. Hopefully unlike hicks he can build on it. Spend the money to get Steinbach and Leonord Davis (who might get LT money, even though he is really just a guard) and see what this team can do! or re-sign gandy to play RG, if davis is too rich for our blood
