WORST Bills Player bang for the buck...
frogger replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
did anyone notice that our value players are mostly offensive linemen...after reading this board day in and day out I thought our OL sucked. trading back into the 1st makes total sense, a 20th+ pick will be cheaper, than signing a free agent. -
It's Aaron SchobeL, he's been the MVP of the Bills over the last ten years, spell his name right!
-
why do people assume that if you are a base 3-4 team you stick to it all the time. a zone blitz 3-4, that on passing downs switch to a 2-4-5 or a 4-2-5, by moving stroud inside with the nose and either schobel or Maybin put there hand down. No one is going to ask Harrison to cover dallas clark, no one is going to see Pace or thomas cover him this weekend. It is a safety or zone. if the offense spreads the d out, you counter with more DBs. The main goal of the DL is to take up the OL, which frees up the LBs to make plays. the problem I saw this year is that the DL did not know their assignments and took themselves out of the play. I feel strongly that Schobel, Kelsey, and Maybin can make the switch to OLB in a 3-4. all three were viewed highly coming out of college as OLB for the 3-4. Stroud can play LE, and Johnson can also play End. Williams might not be the answer to NT, if Hampton is availible (which the steelers rarely re-sign their vets) get him and out him at NT. If we are able to move into the 1st for a 2nd pick, and still keep the 2nd...trade 2 3rds and a 2011 first to move into the later picks in the 1st to get a LT after getting a QB at 9. the 2nd best ILB in the draft Brandon Spikes is Ideal for the ILB in a 3-4. Spikes and Poz, with Schobel and Maybin outside...Mitchell, Harris (passing downs) backing up inside, and Kelsey and Mitchell (he can both) backing up Outside

hopefully Nix >>>>>>>>>>>McSay/Kiper/Mayock! Mayock is better at picking talant, but still not good enough to work for an NFL team
-
IF Buffalo gets a QB in the first round, I expect Buffalo to move back into the first round to get the LT. Bryan Bulaga for example. Yes it will cost a ton, but maybe Dallas doesn't want their pick again. 2 3rds(2010 & 2011) and a 2011 first. this would allow Buffalo to get a LB in the 2nd. How nice would this be 1-Jimmy Clausen 1b-Bryan Bulaga 2-Brandon Spikes or Sean Weatherspoon 3 starters with three picks, the rest of the draft would be role players starting OL LT-Bulaga LG-Levitre C-Hangartner RG-wood RT-Butler for ncstu2003 I don't think that Incognito has been in the NFL long enough nor has he been good enough to demand that he starts. Also, he was a center in college...not to say that Incognito could play there again, but he has played center not just guard, and the idea of moving him to LG would be horrible.

Keith Butler for DC, currently he is the linebackers coach for the steelers, he was honored with LB coach of the year in 2008 by Pro Football Weekly. If Jarrett Johnson can play in the 3-4, then I have to believe that both Kelsey and Schobel can. Don't forget several years ago the bills ran a zone blitzing defense, many times Kelsey and Schobel would cover RBs and TEs, both did well. Buffalo had the 2nd ranked defense at that point. also no reason Kyle Williams can't play nose. Jay Ratliff is smaller, and has made the pro bowl. don't trade away our best players in hope that you'll be able to replace them with system players, good players are good in any system.

I have thought about giving a friend her email/password and having him or maybe a her look into it. Then returning with a yeah or nay on the rest. My problem is I tend to read into things too deeply. My other issue being my 1500 pay cut, which has not been taken care pf. She makes great money, almost twice what I make, not that I am with her for her money, we have shared everything. But, in the event I am no longer an employee of the company that i work for, she has told me that she would help me out. So its a double edged sword, I break up with her I might be wrong, her best friend (who happens to be a girl) insists that she would never cheat on me. And she is my blanket if I become unemployed. This all still falls short of the fact that I adore this girl. I've loved 3 girls in my entire life, she happens to be the third. Its is funny that the other 2 cheated on me. without question it is a cycle.
-
I want to thank everyone for listening to me and responding in such kind ways. As it stands she claims that they are just friends, and that she would never cheat on me. However everyday I see new faces on her facebook, many of which I don't know. But they are all connected to the one guy that she has just recently becomes friends with. the crazy part is I know her password, yet I am too afraid to read her emails, plus I don't think I should.
-
Not only because of the Bills I think my girlfriend might be cheating on me, which would break my heart. This is honestly the first girl since my marriage died that I felt I could have a future with. Now she is hanging out with "friends" and I am suppose to be secure and not worry. Easier said than done. The last girl I loved had a long affair while we were married. Now this. Its hard to not have insecurity issues. the company I work for was recently purchased by another company that is very similar, and I am not sure of my future at this place. They keep saying that I have a future there, but I don't really know. My company also deducted 1500 out of yesterday's paycheck. They have no reason...yet. I asked them and they said they would look into it, which is great. until today I didn't have TV or internet, because the idiots at Brighthouse decided to disconnect my service, I live in a townhouse, my TH is the only one with anyone living in it, the rest are vacant, and the tech decided to disconnect the entire building. So I've not been able to distracted myself at all. Until about an hour ago. Sorry guys, I'm just feeling very alone at the moment, hence why I am telling a bunch a strangers this.

IMHO, we have 3 real needs, DE I agree is a need but not nearly as much as QB, LT or LB. Morgan is a very good player, but the football Gods have bless us with a stronger than normal draft in those three departments (LB, QB, LT) Buffalo needs to capitalize on it. Buffalo drafted the DE they thought they needed last year, and while we all agree Maybin wasn't it. I think everyone here wouldn't have been upset had Andre Smith fell into our hands, even though he nearly ruined his rookie year.

Favorite Bill who you forgot was even a Bill at all?

Marcus Jones....Nicest guy in MMA. Damien Covington-I thought he was going to great, damn injuries -
...or, Sign Casey Hampton, who I think has time left, and the steelers typically don't re-sign their vets. and since I think McClain will stay in bama, buffalo could sign Larry Foote, who has played in the 34. then use the picks on fixing the QB spot and OL

...if so does it work? Or does anyone know a cheaper version of the same thing?

transitioning from a 4-3 defense to a 3-4
frogger replied to Typical TBD Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it is more the result of seeing year in and year out the top defense in the NFL being a 3-4, this year the top three teams, NJ jets, packers, and Ravens. -
transitioning from a 4-3 defense to a 3-4
frogger replied to Typical TBD Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
to slightly answer your question, Schobel and Kelsey have dropped back in coverage, a few years ago when LeBeau was an assistant, Buffalo ran a 4-3 (true) but it was a blitz zone 43, with DEs dropping in coverage. Buffalo then had the 2nd ranked defense, 8th against the run, 2nd against the pass and 5th in points allowed (17.4) I know the defense was different, Buffalo was much more talented...but the question was asked...the other question about NT, Jay Ratliff is 6'4" and listed at 303 pounds. which when you break it down means he would have less leverage than Williams. On obvious passing downs we wouldn't run a 3-4..3-4 is run on first and maybe 2nd downs, we would be in a nickel or dime. w/ current roster schobel-Mitchell-Poz-Kelsey/Maybin Johnson williams Stroud this is on first down and more obvious running situations then move Stroud or Johnson inside, have Maybin/Kelsey and Schobel line up at DE. In the Nickel Harris and Poz and in the dime Poz or Harris. -
I think we could see the biggest turnaround ever Bill Cowher head coach Dick LeBeau coming back to Buffalo as DC and assistant HC...or Keith Butler, who deserves a DC job. Chan Gailey OC-served under Cowher 15 years ago, and currently without a home. Free agents-since we are now Steeler themed, why stop there. Casey Hampton-32 years old, nose tackle. 40 tackles, 2.5 sacks $$$$$ Larry Foote 29, ILB 99 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble for the Lions $$$ Jason Avant WR 40 catches, for 579 and 3 TDs, physical WR, much like Boldin $$$ Demetrius Williams, WR very underused in Baltimore only 8 catches, but still talented $ Draft 1-Ryan Mallett-6'7" passer out of Arkansas. 1(b) Brian Bulaga LT out of IOWA-this happens after this trade...this pick for the following 2010 3rd rounder, 2010 6th rounder, 2011 1st round pick and 2011 4th round pick. 4 picks including a 1st round pick next year...I may also throw in Whitner. 2-Arthur Jones 6'4" 290 DE/DT one of the only bright spots on SU this year, could start as a rookie, unless a very good ILB or other DE/DT (Jared Odrick) falls 3-traded away 4-Dennis Pitta TE from BYU-2nd team all american 6'5" 248 5- Mikah Johnson ILB 6'2" 255-stock will fall because of injury, depth guy and special teamer. 6-traded away. 6 (from Peters trade)Geno Atkins-another DE/DT 6'1 290, good athlete, rotation guy. 7-Trindon Holliday 5'5" 165 pounds of speed, wr/KR say goodbye to Roscoe. UDFA- Dennis Morris-6'2" 265 pounds, former TE QB-Mallet, Brohm, Fitzpatrick RB-Jackson, Lynch FB Dennis Morris (if we need one) TE-Nelson, Pitta, fine WR-Evans, Avant, Williams, Hardy, Johnson, Holliday -don't re-sign Reed. LT-Bulaga, Bell LG-Levitra, Meredith Center-Hangardner, Wood RG-Wood, Richie Incognito (after re-signed) Simmons, Butler RT-Butler, Meredith, Bell switch to 3-4 RE-Johnson, Jones, Atkins DT-Hampton, Williams (I agree Williams is too good, but he'll split time with Hampton) LE Stroud, Johnson, Atkins Rush OLB Schobel (prolongs his career) Maybin, Kelsey, Mitchell ILB-Poz, Foote, Mitchell, Johnson CB McKelvin, McGee, Corner, Florance, Youboty FS Byrd, Wendling(ST) SS Wilson, Scott (I've traded whitner in my mind) K-Lindell P-Moorman KR-Holliday and McGee, not mckelvin. please note, Stroud is no more than a body taking up space, I don't expect him to get much pressure on the QB at LE, but he will command double teams. In the 34 the rush comes from the OLB, he will be used to keep blockers off of Maybin and Schobel. And also free up the ILB.

Buffalo's QBs could be given all the time in the world to throw the ball and still would not compare to Rivers.
-
I think that the OL can be addressed via FA. However, you are more likely to find a average to good LT in the 2nd round than a QB of the same ability. Here is my list of everyone better than what the Bills have that might be availible to Buffalo, 1st round, 2nd round+, through trades, potential free agency and free agency. Russell Okung-top 10 pick Bruce Campbell-top 15 pick Bryan Bulaga-top 20-my personal favorite. I wouldn't be upset if the Bills traded their 2011 1st pick, a 4th and 2010 3rd to trade up to draft him after Buffalo drafts their QB...Ryan Mallett or Clauson. Anthony Davis-first rounder. Trent Williams-first rounder Charles Brown-1st/2nd Jason Fox-2nd rounder Ciron Black-late 2nd-I think he will make a solid RT over LT 8 players that are better than what we currently see on the field-but they will be rookies and all rookies are tested free agency- Marcus McNeill-top free agent, also will be $$$ potential FA and trades Jammal Brown-if he is healthy I would offer the saints a 3rd rounder for his rights. He has a voidable contract, and is expensive compared to Jermon Bushrod who has started in his place this year. Tra Thomas-I would offer a 6th for him Matt Light-he'd be my fall back, I wouldn't trade for him. players that I would entertain to fill other positions Jeremy Trueblood Adam Terry Tyson Clabo David Baas Eugene Amano

Positive comments about the Buffalo Bills
frogger replied to BillsfaninFl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
fantastic fans! I mean where else could a team be so bad over 10 years and still have a great fan base, in Orlando I still see Bills stuff on cars as I drive around. the secondary is not bad, proof in the int department, imagine if we were actually winning in the 2nd half of most games how many ints there would be. Aaron Schobel Byrd Jackson Moorman This team has untapped talent IMHO-we just need a coach to tap into it. -
"James Hardy showed us some things"
frogger replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the one catch wasn't on target and he caught it, I'd say, compared to the rest of Buffalo's WRs that is impressive. he had to turn his body a little. well played Mr james -
He's not a senior, but he has sent out feelers to get an idea of where he would be drafted. most everyone agrees he has the strongest arm in college.
-
I wish we had 11 Aaron Schobels on defense, he has been my favorite player to watch the last ten years. in order to keep him in Buffalo, the Bills need to hire a head coach that can bring the idea of winning back to buffalo. I think that he could be outstanding in a 3-4 as a OLB, which will make his career longer too.
