Rd 7, Pick #25: K John Potter - Western Michigan
frogger replied to Dennis in NC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he eliminates the need to keep guys on the team who are just special team members, it could mean we keep 2 more linemen over linebackers and DBs. -
One thing I noticed in highlights his cuts are very smooth, similar to Victor Cruz.

amazing - Nix and states that lost the Civil War

I don't think you'll see an argument, the SEC is clearly the best. -
4 for 4, he'll play special teams only for the first 4 weeks, then get more and more pt till December, then he'll start.
-
Bump! You had me at route running creates separation...those who compare him to roscoe are doing yourself a disservice...he's a young lee Evans and that's good.

Still some good talent available .....

If buffalo can get Carder, James Michael-Johnson, Robinson, Lewis or Bradham I'd feel better about our linebackers. Also Givens is a stud, I was hoping he was going to be the pick at 3. Jones is still there too. Also at TE, Charles is still there and Thompson. Talent remains carder and givens make our trade look much better -
Honestly I'm very happy with the pick by the dolphins, Mario will have a field day.

Love it! -
Regardless, it looks like we could get another starter.

NFLN is reporting Claibourne to Vikings

He could be this years mckelvin, in the sense we wanted him, but never thought he'd fall to us. Now he's our starting cb, for better or worse. -
Buffalo will give him the option of putting his hand down or not, nothing real different, seek QB, hit QB, cause turnovers on third and long...simple. 20 plays a game, tops.

if OLB isn't that important in Wannstedt's defense why did Miami go out and sign Junior Seau? regardless, ILB is important and one of the best, potentially, could be there for the taking. I agree that WR is important, but I don't think Floyd is going to be the pick, I could see Buffalo getting back in the 1st late and getting Wright or top of the 2nd getting Sanu. Personally, I'd rather get Josh Robinson at the top of the 2nd and see whats left in the 3rd, maybe combine the 4ths and 6th and get into the bottom of the 3rd too.

I'd like him to stay at last years weight, I think he could be a good back up 3 tech. Kelsey and Williams are the starters at DE, on short yardage situations I could see Carrington playing end. In that situation I could also see Merriman playing OLB. Carrington and Merriman both offer flexibility. I know Gailey said Merriman was a DE, but on 3rd and 1, and a two to three TE set, I see him standing up to offer some additional muscle.

I am comparing his Combine numbers alone vs this years rookies. His 40 time is horrible, but if he's going forward we are winning, I never understood forty times with the Oline, I guess it shows he can get the line of scrimmage fast? 5.43 Jonathan Martin was 5.35 Bench Press, 33, better than any OT at the combine Vert Jump 29" would be 5th best at Combine among OT Broad 96" bottom tier, but not the worse 3 cone -7.9 seconds better than Mike Adams and Cordy Glen 4.7- 20 yard shuttle better than Reiff, Bobby Massie, Mike Adams and .05 away from Matt Kalil. I think he'll be fine, he played against some of the best at Clemson, beyond those you know in the ACC, he practiced against Bowers, Sapp, Branch and Malliciah Goodman.

Miami is the largest fair weather fan base. Everyone is in awe of James and wade, but where were the fan prior...and look at the marlins. -
I really wouldn't be too surprised if we drafted a DE early.

instead of endlessly whining about Pats.

This is the reason for my excitement about opening in NY, biggest stage and by halftime they'll be chanting for tebow. -
Im a fan of Kendricks as well, NFL radio said he has a little polamalu in him, because of his ability to make blockers miss and get to the ball.

I realize age is catching up with Wilson, though I feel he has at least 4 good years left and Byrd is going into his final year...I get that, but why not fill a need like linebacker, not sure if you recall but Barnett is up there in age and has a history of injuries. Sheppard has potential...but what's potential? Morrison played so well in jax that they over spent on some former Penn state linebacker. Yeah, we could say that about every position, but we are not in that position to do so.

I think hightower will be there round two, but after drafting a classic underachiever in round one I will not see hightower drafted since I will have thrown my poor dog through my tv...and will be spending the weekend at the vet...thank you nix for hurting my dog
-
Maybe we will invent a defense based on TCU's A 4-2-5, with three safeties. Otherwise I think it makes little sense to draft a position we already are strong at.

I think trading down would be my dream. the tenth overall for clevelands 22nd, in the exchange the Browns also trade us there 2013 1st, 2012 3rd and we include a 4th this year and a 3rd next. (again dream) 22nd-Luke Kuechly slips (MLB not typically taken top 15) Ladies and gentlemen Dave's got his Zack Thomas, but with more size and quickness, Sheppard moves to Sam, which would be a good move. or Martin, Glenn et cetera 2-Josh Robinson CB, despite not playing top talent, I do feel he will be the 2nd or third best CB in the draft. Will stay on the hip of any WR in the NFL, at almost 200 pounds he has the strength to be physical. 3-Brian Quick WR-generally speaking everyone here at the stadium wall seems to like him. Tall athletic WR, who could become a good player, not there just yet. If Martin or Glenn are taken round one I would love to get Mychal Kendricks here. 3b-Orson Charles TE- muscled out move TE. Yes, DUI, but he didn't try to outrun police. see Riley Reiff. 4-Junior Hemingway- 6'1" 225 star of the Combine among WR, played at Michigan, good feet, tons of potential, but very raw. 5-Andrew Datko OT-a little high, I know, but I have seen my share of FSU games, Datko can play and the injury history is a concern but doesn't scare me away. a project, with lots of potential. 6-Ernest Owusu DE, 4.70 40, and 39 reps, played end in a 3-4 defense, and still got 4.5 sacks. 6'4" 275 lots of potential. BPA the rest of the way 2013- Cleveland has I believe the best chance at having the number one pick in next years draft. one of the hardest schedules and one of the weakest teams. If Fitz struggles we could find Buffalo drafting Barkley and getting a top LT with Buffalo's pick.

FYI: OT Mike Adams tested positive at Combine

Burfect, can be a very good "example" for a coach. Bringing him into a situation only to cut him, not for his play but his attitude, shows a young team that they won't take his or anyone's BS. I am not concern about his pot use, we were all 20 something on the cusp of becoming a millionaire, girls thrown at us from everywhere, trading goods and services for tattoos once, am I right? let it slide.
