Inauguration Music Sets Tone For Administration

Presuming you have one to staple, not a bad idea. Unfortunately, you'll never know...not having one and all. -
Trickle up economics

They'd use it to pay down debt they shouldn't have incurred in the first place so the net effect would be nil. -
Really? I'd never even heard of her. But once I heard her speak there was no doubt that she's just too ignorant to be POTUS, which is saying something after Bush. Why don't you instead focus on finding someone from the GOP who's actually a good candidate? There are some, you know. She just doesn't happen to be one of them.

Inauguration Music Sets Tone For Administration
blzrul replied to /dev/null's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The two hours (or more) of performances the previous day WERE live. As to this - they at least did a darned good job of faking it. I have seen them all in concert and no doubt about it, they're good. I suspect that none of them really wanted to go this route - you're talking big egos here and this bad PR is not going to make them very happy. It's certainly disappointing but I'm not sure what they could have done given the circumstances - announced "hey it's too cold to play and still sound good so we'll play a tape instead?". I do wonder why, with a January inauguration, this wasn't taken into account in booking them. On the other hand, I think the temperatures were a tad below normal ... maybe. But if you're trying to pin this on Obama somehow, you're even more pathetic than I'd thought. -
To my fellow conservatives on the board

I never heard of you. But when your conservative buddies post such well-thought-out observations such as "Quit talking about the military and get on the anti military band wagon with the rest ot the Tards. The military is just butt kissin right\t now but they dont favor Obama but will wait and see." ... and more, just how seriously do you expect to be taken? -
You people are idiots. The Inauguration Committee planned the days' events and there were 10 OFFICIAL events. Those were events that the President attended. One of them was in honor of the military: Commander-in-Chief's Inaugural Ball - National Building Museum, 401 F St. NW. The ball is in honor of the country's active duty and reserve military. Invited guests included wounded warriors (Purple Heart recipients), families of fallen heroes, and spouses of deployed military. Tickets were provided free of charge to all invited guests. This event was not open to the general public. It was broadcast to American troops around the world on the Pentagon Channel, which is available via cable on 368 military bases and on commercial cable and satellite services throughout the United States. I myself witnessed the President and First Lady each dance with a member of the military, and I thoroughly enjoyed the interview with each of them after the dance was over. I can see why their officers chose them.

I am sooo glad I don't live in a major US city

If two airliners had taken out downtown Anchorage, I wonder what would have happened? You'd all run for the hills waving your guns and batten down in your little igloos. Fact is New Yorkers are brave and tough as hell. You go to New York today and you see it's a vibrant city and, oddly, the events of 9/11 didn't make them mean, nasty and afraid... far from it. You couldn't make it in New York. You're right where you belong. -
Come on, the media's been Palin-free for several days now! Let it be!

Murtha: OK to send Gitmo prisoners to Pennsylvania.

Send 'em to Alaska. Those that don't blend right in will freeze to death. Problem solved either way. -

And pray tell, genius, what has history taught YOU? Quick tell us now as the fate of the nation hangs on this wisdom that you seem to have that NO-ONE else does. -

A racist, a homophobe AND ignorant as hell to boot. I grant you this, you know a lot about hate. -
someone please drop the anvil back on Pelosi's head

So in addition to being an acknowledged racist you are also a homophobe? Well at least you are honest. -

I live 10 minutes from Chateau Ste Michelle...Columbia Winery...and several others. Not quite yet on par with Napa and Sonoma but...catching up. -
Did you see he had to do it AGAIN today? Pretty funny - Roberts flubs the oath and has to do it again in the White House just in case a wingnut wants to question that Obama REALLY took the oath. So the Bush admin incompetency is not QUITE behind us. Robert is, however, a Bills fan. Therefore I will forgive him.

Yes - oddly I haven't been there maybe because it's so famous, and of course the "celebs" go there. Gaucho's is a place everyone raves over. Union Street Grill (I think it's "Grill") at 6th and Union is also good. You can't really get good Mexican or BBQ here though. I have a smoker so I do my own BBQ but I do miss the Tex-Mex. -
Well you know he IS just THAT lame that he probably doesn't get his own jokes. Not that I am defending him, mind you. Actually, now that I think about it, he was probably parrotting something spewed by Rush Limbaugh or the Coultergeist and hoping we'd all think he though of it his own self.

There was a place on the west side, W58 and 10th Ave, called the Greek Kitchen. The food is so good...I actually still carry the business card with me. I hope they're still open, I'll be in NYC in April and would love to pay them a visit. -

There is a REALLY annoying panhandler about three-four blocks past AT&T park. Most of them are pretty passive but this freaking guy tries to block your way if you pass without paying, like the sidewalk's his own tollway. -
Maybe we have. I listened to Obama today and I clearly heard "government isn't the answer". America seems to have forgotten that WE outnumber the politicians. For the past two decades we've allowed ourselves to be divided against each other. This recent election is not only a repudiation of that, but perhaps America learning something we seem to have forgotten - the power really is with the people. Moreso here than anywhere.
-
I think that Obama is a very dangerous man. Not to us - to our enemies. He understands very well how to appeal to the moderate and sway people to his side, even while they may not believe in his idealogy. Now imagine President Obama splitting the Muslim world, isolating the fanatics and swaying the moderates to realize that it makes more sense to work with us than against us. Does anyone here doubt he can do it? And does anything think that watching the worldwide reaction to President Obama isn't causing the evildoers to wonder if maybe the tide is turning against him? You may not like it but George W. Bush united them against us. Barack Obama seems to be aiming to unit everyone against THEM. I like it.
