4 police officers killed in Wash. coffee shop
blzrul replied to Alaska_Darin_Is_Gay's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Sounds like a copycat - on Halloween a cop was killed as he sat in his car with a trainee doing paperwork. The trainee returned fire and the bullet hole(s) in the car when they found it will help convict the SOB. That and all the guns and making of bombs in his apartment. Turns out the guy was a "loner", fascinated by law enforcement, didn't really fit in, etc. He was supposedly set off by a video that showed a cop (I think it was in Tacoma) beating up on a teenaged girl in custody as a result of her sassing him and throwing a shoe at him (which missed). I agree the film was disconcerting, particularly the part where his fellow officer had to physically pull him off the girl ... although I probably would have wanted to smack her smart mouth. I suspect that THIS crime is a copycat, another one of those people who may not be legally insane but definitely have a screw loose, a persecution complex etc. This crap unfortunately happens all the time at work places...regardless of who's running the country. I am particularly outraged that it's cops, because they can be sitting ducks and this kind of crap is going to result in nervous cops who may be a little hair-triggered in the future, who could blame them. They accept the risks when they put on the uniform, but THIS is far and beyond the normal risks of the job. I think from now on when I approach an officer to ask a question or whatever I will do it very slowly with my hands visible, because cops in Seattle at least have every right to be wary of everyone. -
Shanahan met with Bills for 7 hours over 2 days
blzrul replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ya but...Buffalo has a great deal of raw talent AND the bar is so low, anyone who breaks .500 next year is a coaching genius. I am wondering if Fox and Fisher will be available, then there is Holmgren, Cowher, Schottenheimer...and there will be a lot of openings. I'd take Lovie Smith if the Bears dump him. Face it ANY one of these guys would be an improvement over Dick Jauron. I think Ralph may finally be realizing that he could actually DIE without ever winning a championship. I hope that sense of urgency stays with him for awhile... -
I expect Hedd, PJ, Nozzlenut, Connor, etc

So Kerry's daughter was NOT over the legal limit, does that mean Palin's daughter was NOT pregnant? Because this thread starts with something about Palin's daughter and it's confusing at best. I don't see what Kerry's daughter has to do with Palin's daughter? Or perhaps we're talking about Bush's daughter? She had that false ID in a bar didn't she, which when presented to a barkeep is intent to defraud. But, um, Kerry's daughter had that expired registration. Boy oh boy, what a bunch of criminals! Hang her by her thumbs and flay her, how about that? zzzzzzz Keep trying! -
The Christmas tree was originally a pagan symbol from Germany and was brought out of Germany by Queen Victoria. When America was settled Christmas was, in fact, outlawed in terms of a celebration. So if you indeed want to worship a pagan symbol, and fly in the faces of our founding fathers, go right ahead. I thought Christmas had to do with some Jewish guy named Jesus, not a tree. If someone hands you a 500-carat diamond, and says "here is a handful of dog ****", what's in your hand? "A rose by any other name..." Who cares what you call it. Only in America do we have the luxury of having hissy fits over meaningless crap like this. Other places people are worried about finding their next meal or not getting blown up.

I don't remember anyone talking about Laura Bush's staff. I never even thought about it. It's the peculiar hypocrisy of the wingnuts that family's off-limits (except for Democrats) and that people should be more tolerant (of conservative peccadillos). I guarantee if the Obamas walked into the White House and 2 hours after the inauguration fired half the staffers because they felt they were overstaffed, the wingnuts would be screaming about the layoffs. Why don't you B word about the Holiday Tree instead? Now THERE is a real issue for you to worry about.

And for $3.95 or so one could get a ticket to hear a motivational speech from GWB at Boss Hawg Stadium. -
Always check Snopes before you make an ass out of yourself Since most of you won't read it: According to Anita McBride, Laura Bush's Chief of Staff, Laura Bush had between 24-26 sfatters Lady Bird Johnson had 30 Betty Ford had "about" 30. Jackie Kennedy had 40. Yowza. Yawn. Nothing to see here wingnuts. Maybe you ought to B word about the Holiday Tree! Now THAT is really important.

This could just as well have been a white guy who didn't want to go to Iraq. This guy is mentally ill. Not insane, and not a Muslim participating in jihad. By the way, does anyone know how many soldiers have returned from the war and killed their wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend/kids/or total strangers? More than 13. Guaranteed. There have been at least 4 here at Ft. Lewis. So while the chickenshit wingnuts are freaked out over Muslims in their typical knee-jerk reaction, stressed soldiers will continue to be ignored and untreated, and unfortunately innocent victims will continue to pay for it.

Sometimes legislation expires. Doubtful that will be the case here.

I sat through three quarters of the Seahawks and Lions. Pity me. When the Lions started to lose, which was inevitable, we opted to leave because it was getting freaking cold and I couldn't stand watching such bad football any more. On the way home we listened to the post-game talk and they mentioned the fact that the rap on the Lions' rookie QB is that, although he can throw the long ball, he's not always very accurate. Duh. Then why (a) draft him so high and (b) have him through the long ball. Lions.

who the !@#$ is norman? -
I thought they did a nice job and as a multiple-team NFL season ticketholder this is a first in my experience. Say what you will the Bills organization does nice things for us...well, except as far as the W-L ratio. I thought the conference call went ok. They actually allowed the "should Jauron be fired" question and I thought the evasive answer was just sincere enough to be ... well, maybe for real. (WTF would anyone expect a player - under contract - to say?!) And I loved George Wilson's closing "please don't give up on us". Maybe I'm just worn down by the years of mediocrity, spiked with a little hope and joy here and there but - you know, it's a game. Being a fan is totally voluntary. So if the team sucks and I still follow and root for them - that's MY problem, not the players'. I do not for one minute believe those guys take the field thinking "hmm how can we !@#$ this up today?". And, as an employee myself, I know I would be very unhappy if my customers hated me and thought I was an incompetent nitwit. I imagine those players are EVERY BIT as frustrated as we are at their record. (TO just tweeted we're 3-5 WTH?!) The Bills are my team, and I'll dog 'em to fellow fans and whatnot, but I'll support them anyway.

I don't know why the media is hyping these elections as a referendum on Obama, when polled voters stated the opposite. Governors and local elected officials have a great impact on local daily life, and only an idiot would think that voting purely on the basis of anti-POTUS is smart. Of course there are lots of idiots out there. I personally thought Jon Corzine was one of them...hopefully for my NJ relatives the new guy will be better. It's not like he's a wingnut extremist or anything.

A giant misconception by the fans...

Every week I watch the Bills and I see TO sitting there (at least staying healthy) ... and I want to apologize to him. I know he's keeping quiet because he doesn't want to queer next year's contract with ANYONE BUT BUFFALO. And I look forward to him signing with a contender...and then letting it all out. The Bills deserve it. My husband and I agreed yesterday that the Bills could sign the best position players in the league tomorrow, but would still suck. Something to do with BAD COACHING. I'd love to see #FireDickJauron become a trending topic on Twitter. -
gotta hand it to the bills, when they stink, they don't mess around, they just purely stink.

You know when Obama's Death Squads are implemented this won't be a problem whatsoever. LOL

Yeah I guess NYC/NYS residents (and probably NJ as well) can't be too happy. This has dragged on forever...I understand what it means to NY and they want to "get it right" but geez...if you can't come to an agreement, make a parking lot until you can figure out what you want to do with it. -
What's the biggest pleasant surprise this year
blzrul replied to /dev/null's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That I was able to move my club seats one section closer to midfield, which is about where the Bills' drives usually stall. -
Looks like Obama has had enough of Charlie Rangel
blzrul replied to 1billsfan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I've seen the Rangel stuff on CNN for a long time... -
And you forgot the most IMPORTANT thing: He promised his wife he would take a year off. She is gonna hold him to it down to the very last second.

yeah I tweeted the link to an article debunking the story...there's another thread. michael vick needs to find something better to do.
