  1. He's definitely got good skills and leadership ability. He clearly inspires confidence in his teammates. But he's small and definitely would take some work to develop into an NFL-caliber player. That is not the Bills' strong point. Obviously. I would say that if the Bills could sign a veteran QB with a few good years left in him, who could help win games as well as help develop him, LeFevour might be worth risking a draft pick on. By the time he's ready to start, maybe he'll be shaving too.
  2. I don't have the answer but it surely seems that a few teams in the NFL have TONS of injuries, constantly. That's not bad luck when it happens annually. There's something going on; either the coaching staff is running these guys to pieces during the week, or they're not properly conditioning them to withstand the hits. It's just too much of a coincidence that every year the Bills are cobbling together a team based on who's not dead yet.
  3. Jan 6 Seattle Times LA stadium builder: Jaguars, Bills first on list The company behind a plan to lure the NFL back to Los Angeles said Tuesday the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills are the first teams it will try to relocate. By JACOB ADELMAN Associated Press Writer LOS ANGELES — The company behind a plan to lure the NFL back to Los Angeles said Tuesday the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills are the first teams it will try to relocate. Majestic Realty Co. managing partner John Semcken said the company is still considering at least seven franchises for a new stadium some 25 miles east of Los Angeles. They also include the San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, St. Louis Rams and Oakland Raiders. But he said the Jaguars and the Bills are at the top of the list because they play in small markets that tamp down their earning potential and because they have little hope of building larger venues in their home regions. "Jacksonville and Buffalo are two teams in very, very small markets, he said. "They are teams that have either outdated stadiums or are having trouble filling their stadiums or both." The Jaguars have struggled for years to fill Jacksonville Municipal Stadium and had several games blacked out on local TV this season. The Bills, meanwhile, have been playing some home games in Toronto in an effort to expand their market. Messages were left seeking comment from the Jaguars and Bills. Jaguars majority owner Wayne Weaver and Bills owner Ralph Wilson have steadfastly dismissed any suggestion they will sell or move their teams. Semcken said Majestic won't approach the 49ers, Chargers or Vikings as long as they are seeking stadium plans of their own. He said it would not be fair to interfere with their efforts to remain in their home markets. Semcken also said Majestic chief executive Ed Roski's preference is to find owners willing to sell their franchise to a consortium of investors that he would lead, rather than buying a minority stake in a team that would move with its existing majority owner at the helm.
  4. Not a good way to start off the New Year...for Limbaugh.
  5. So my gut reaction when Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for this badly-botched attempt was "huh?". I mean, seriously think of it - the same organization that masterminded 9/11, which was pretty well planned and executed (unfortunately) is responsible for THIS abortion? I guess that's good news for their intended victims worldwide. I'm not making light of terror attacks / attempts in any way, shape or form but the only thing that comes to mind in this case is "The Gang that Couldn't Shoot Straight". I really don't believe AQ is behind it, I think this nut was on his own and AQ jumped on it because after all outside of Iraq they haven't had much to crow about recently.
  6. You wingnuts got the war and all the debt it drove; we get healthcare and its debt. You think killing people is a sound investment; I think healing them is more advantageous. No matter how you look at it the national debt is ours collectively. So you enjoy your war and we'll enjoy whatever heathcare reform brings.
  7. Reading this thread brings home yet again the pure stupidity of religion. Not God. Religion. They are NOT the same. God created man. Man created religion.
  8. Only a male would male such a stupid statement. I realize that statistics may point to a higher rate of breast cancer in older women, but women in their 30's and 40's (sometimes even in their 20's) get it also. Frankly a younger woman stands a better chance of recovery due to her youth than an older woman, so it makes absolutely no sense at all to avoid screening for this horrible disease until 50. Let's talk about prostate cancer shall we? What are the guidelines on that, and how frequently will a typical healthcare plan cover those?
  9. for the record, that message is NOT present in the ladies' room, at least not in my section...
  10. Who wants Holmgren? He was a complete bust at the position in Seattle which is why they took it away from him and made him coach only.
  11. He didn't have to be "beating her". She could have felt threatened OR she could have just wanted to get the heck away from him and the kids to cool off. She's allowed to do that. No-one put a gun to his head and forced him to jump in the back of a moving vehicle. It was a dumb thing to do and an unfortunate accident - sad for everyone. He leaves behind small children and other family members, plus a fiance who probably will feel the guilt and remorse forever. It's very nice for him that people all around him gave him second chances but apparently he got all the second chances that God felt he deserved. That's the way it goes. At least since he was apparently cleaning up his act he will be remembered more fondly than if he had remained a dumb punk. If Plaxico Burress had died from shooting his dumbass self, would we debate that at all? Of course not. We'd all agree he was doing something stupid (forget legality for a minute) and he paid the price. Very sad for the people left behind. But sometimes that's the way it goes.
  12. And if she stopped and he beat the crap out of her what would you say then? The right thing to have done was to drive off and call 9/11 ASAP.
  13. I live in Seattle and am happy to be able to watch him another year as a Husky. He needs more seasoning ... he has obvious talent but has had some injuries (last year), could use a little more time. The MAIN reason for him to come out this year had to do with the threatened chance to rookie salaries - seems like they want the rookies to actually PROVE themselves before they suck up an entire team's salary cap money. Plus I am sure he's better off waiting for Tebow and McCoy to come out and be NFL busts.
  14. Geez louise. Think for a minute the PAIN Paul must have been in to do what he did. Your situation is sad, but you aren't Paul. And you shouldn't judge him. Just think of your pain, and then imagine how bad that pain would have to be for you to decide death made sense. Think about it - And then please STFU.
  15. BiB often said the same.
  16. And how many businesses does he own, pray tell? One? My company is hiring. IBM is hiring, and they gave raises and bonuses. Xerox is hiring. Microsoft is hiring. If the people you are referring to are wingnuts like you and LAB, of course they're pessimistic. That's the hallmark of the wingnut. I am neither optimistic or pessimistic. I am realistic. Assuming that the economy is starting to recover, as it improves jobs will follow. Anyone who things that one or two positive signs should trigger massive hiring is a freaking idiot and any company that did so would have some 'splaining to do to stockholders / stakeholders.
  17. And it doesn't mean it WILL lag longer. You don't know any better than I do when it will start. I do know that I got caught in a RIF in November, 2002 close to the beginning of a recoveryfrom the earlier recession and didn't see hiring really start to pick up in earnest until later in 2003. That recession started in 2000. The first thing that happens is that layoffs slow. Then as things stablize hiring will gradually start and increase. The fact is this was a pretty bad recession. While becoming President to do something egomanical, like topping an unpopular dictator or passing "landmark" legislation, is certainly within the realm of possibility, what are the odds we'd have TWO of them back to back. Go figure.
  18. Yes but having lived thru a number of recessions we all know that hiring always lags. Always. The economy is not RECOVERED, it is RECOVERING. Things have to get better and stay that way for awhile before companies of any size are going to invest in hiring on more than an exception basis.
  19. Uh I think it was the financial meltdown, frozen credit AND the Bush recession that made almost EVERY business afraid to hire. That predated Obama and in fact many of the HUGE job losses all took place before Obama took office. Certainly job losses continued. I too wish he - or anyone for that matter - had a magic wand to fix things immediately. Alas it's not to be. Fortunately he's got a big bucket, a shovel, a broom and all the will in the world to clean up the mess left by those fiscally-responsible compassionate conservatives who brought us war and near-financial disaster.
  20. So what kind of "presence" would you be looking for? You just want someone to attack. What do you expect "lefties" to say? Bush sucks? Yeah, he did. But he's mercifully history. And now Cheney should STFU. After all, Uncle Dick, I thought that IN TIMES OF WAR YOU WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO QUESTION THE PRESIDENT? Remember that one? Oh yea, that's right, questioning the President in times of war makes you UNPATRIOTIC. It means you HATE FREEDOM. I look at it this way: The wingnuts HATE Obama. The far-left is DISAPPOINTED in Obama. That means he's pretty much right where he should be - working for everyone in the middle. The TARP money (a Bush initiative I supported) is starting to come back. Foreclosures are slowing, and housing values starting to improve. Interest rates are still low. Unemployment is still a concern, but after an economic meltdown jobs are ALWAYS the last thing to come back (as I learned in the first Bush recession). Who knows, maybe Obama will even find the WMDs just before we turn out the lights in Iraq. There you go. Have fun.
  21. Show us where God says that. Marriage is a man-made institution.
  22. The wheelman for this POS was ALSO a killer from Arkansas (2-times over). Nice of Arkansas to unleash them on us here in WA.
  23. hmmm you may be onto something there. carrots though may have more nutritional value though.
  24. And your IQ is right on par with an artichoke. With all apologies to the artichoke.
