My first game in person was 1968. I thought the 4 SB trips would feed his hunger but maybe he just had the right guy (Polian) at that time and just went with the flow. Hard to believe he could be content with this current dreck.

Your post rings true on several levels. The makeup of this team points to a complete lack of long term planning and going for the quick hit. Now we are saddled with many 30 something vets ( and Mike Williams ) with big salaries and declining production.

So I was seeing things the last 2 years when Pat became an all or nothing DT , who lunged into the backfield to either make a big play or leave a gaping hole ( most of the time ) where he was supposed to be, correct ? I was upset to see us not have a quality replacement. I was NOT upset to see him leave. I don't give a sh-- what beat writer states otherwise.

How much did the weak schedule play into that perception ? The ST's and D combined for a mind boggling 10 TD's last year, while the O was struggling. The OL and DL fell apart this year and all our warts,including the playcalling, were exposed.

Mularkey is too caught up in his offensive " packages " that he refers to quite often. The minute Aiken comes out on the field, the entire stadium knows it's a run. He's not fooling anyone and abandons the successful no huddle for no apparent reason. Mularkey has to stick to his guns and quit mindf#cking himself with trying to counter a move by the opposing coach. It just blows up in his face every time. The offense will successfully move down into the redzone and then, inexplicably, calls some of the most moronic plays ever witnessed. Almost "Gilbridelike". Trick plays or wide pitches on 3rd and 2 feet. WTF ? He's basically telling his offense " I have zero confidence in you " . Then goes into some rambling diatribe in the post game about how that situation called for this certain "offensive package"...which , of course, failed.

Fletcher has quickness but lacks strength at the point of attack. He's extremely easy to block and gets tied up when runs come up the middle. I don't get caught up in his numbers, since most tackles come downfield after the opponent makes a positive gain. I realize the shortcomings of our DT's but I felt the same way the last couple of years when our DT's were playing better. We need a much bigger, more physical MLB.
