  1. Brad Johnson also. Sat on the bench his entire college career, behind Charlie Ward at Fla.St. Bills will need at OT to replace Jeenings, who will probably leave. Maybe another Center or Guard. TE could use a boost. How about a run stuffing DE, as GG mentioned the other day ? Another Free Safety to evetually take over for the aging Troy Vincent. Backup CB depth ( Nate Clements could leave after 2005 ). Kicker. I do hope to eventually see #7 under Center in 2005.
  2. I do like the Vet RB idea for a solid backup to Willis. I just don't believe Smith would come here. He may retire now or in a year. Why come north to be a backup ? What about Antowain Smith ?
  3. With the lack of a 1st round pick, I wonder If they'll even bother having a draft party in the Kelly Club, come April ? That's where I've been on Draft day the last 3 years.
  4. Injuries cut short a great career. That guy was the total package. Whined a lot for pass interference calls but my God, could he throw the ball. What a talent.
  5. Drew threw a few good passes aduring that winning streak. I believe our ST's and Defense were much bigger factors during the 6 game streak. The issue is winning games against superior teams, ala Steelers, Pats etc. Sunday was our playoff game, at home against many backup players. Drew failed miserably. If we had won, 3 Road playoff games were awaiting us, if the SB is indeed the goal. Chances of him and the Bills running the table... Zero. Sullivans comments today were dead on. It's not ALL him but the QB position must be upgraded with a lineup change at some point next season. Quite often, the flow of the game falls in the QB's lap, which means he MUST make some plays on his own. DB can't do that anymore.
  6. Safe to say he'll never split the atom.
  7. "We have to be able to execute" ( Sigh ) Yeah Drew.. Whatever. Your excuses ring hollow.
  8. Nope. JP is a complete unknown. Bledsoe is a known failure against good competition, a status JP has yet to achieve.
  9. If the Plan is for a slow transition from #11 to #7 sometime during the 2005 season, then I understand it. If the Bills reach the Playoffs in 2005, they actually stand a better chance having Losman under Center. The Vet angle doesn't work with DB, since he's shown he's a proven choker in such games. The young unknown quantity is actually an improvement.
  10. The " Reality Check " . The Bills are a B+ team, moving in the right direction. Now finish the job and quit living in the past with key players at critical positions.
  11. I know they could do a lot worse but what is your point ? We should settle for 9-7 and no playoffs ? The Bills won MULTIPLE games in 2004 due to a high number of huge plays on ST's and Defense. We can't depend on that to carry us again. The Offense needs to wake up and show some consistency against the good teams. Not the average to bad teams we beat during our 6 game winning streak. I'm not willing to settle for a QB who's play is in clear decline. He's costing us games, not winning them.
  12. Illini, you list stats. I've seen Bledsoe pass far better QB's, in many career catagories, in Yards, TD's etc. I'm not impressed whatsover. Watch when the HOF voters look at him. Your logic suggests Bledsoe is a lock, since the people you compare him to are already in.... I have doubts he'll ever get in. Fouts never had a good consistent D/running game in San Diego and was forced to play airball for years. Marino much the same. Try and outscore your opponents was what they had to do. They had a bullseye on them at all times and still delivered. Bledsoe hasn't had a 300 yard passing game in 30 games. He's not carrying this team at all. A completely different type of player who wasn't half as good as Fouts or Marino. The issue is his present play. He's been on a steep decline since the middle of 2002. I don't care what he did in the 90's. I care about playing well in big games in the present day... and he stinks.
  13. Bledsoe will be entering his 13th NFL season in 2005. Bledsoe wasn't half the QB Marino and Fouts were. Being in my 40's, I observed their careers. They were their teams strengths, while other units were below average. That above comment suggests Bledsoe is what gives us hope, more than most any other player or unit. You have got to be kidding.
  14. It's a balanced article you can read later in the morning on the front page. Gives Bledsoe his props. But his reasoning is this... " Bledsoe's preformance in the seasons biggest game was like a two-by-four to the head, a jarring reminder of his shortcomings and his tendency to become unglued at the most inopportune times. " " In the end, he will always let you down. In a big game, he will make throws that will leave you scratching your head. He will hold onto the ball too long. He will fail to sense an oncoming blitzer, and imminent disaster. " " It's true no one knows what to expect from Losman But we've learned to expect the worst from Bledsoe in big games. Sunday was the latest example. If the Bills expect to win a Superbowl with this guy, they're kidding themselves. " He predicts Bledsoe will enter 2005 as the starter and Losman needs to get himself ready this off-season. Suggesting the transition could occur during the 2005 season. That's a valid assumption. I believe Bledsoes' cap hit is about 6.5 Mil next year, jumping to 8.3 Mil in 2006. I seriously doubt he'll ever see that $$ for 2006. *Additional note - Our non-divisional Away games for 2005 are Oakland, San Diego,Cincinnati, New Orleans and Tampa Bay . Home games include Denver , Kansas City, Houston, Atlanta and Carolina.
  15. Hollis had a disc in his back that was going bad. He's never been able to resume his career, due to it. I hope that position is upgraded for 2005 . Lindell barely made some of those short FG's and is wildly inconsistent. In addition, he couldn't kick off the ball deep in many games, which is baffling. He'd squib kick many 25-30 yards, which would be returned to the 40-50 yard line. That's terrible.
  16. It was a total team lack of effort that led to the loss. You are correct. Still doesn't change the fact we need improvements at various positions on this team. Kicker,OL,TE and QB. Like other posters have pointed out, you cannot expect the Defense and Special Teams to have the number of TD's they registered in 2004. That was a freak occurance. So the offense MUST improve and the above positions need a boost. Bledsoe deserved PLENTY of blame. He was below average to terrible in multiple games since the middle of 2002.
  17. It's been widely reported Drew Brees will get the Franchise Tag if a new deal isn't worked out. I'm aware of the Rivers contract but that's the Chargers problem. They claim they can carry both for a couple years. We drafted Losman for a reason. He'll play soon.
  18. Keep bringing the scoops. Lancaster Steve is my friend and sits next to me at the Bills games. Steve knows people at OBD who drop him some inside info from time to time. His info has been dead on too many times to ignore. You are always welcome to drop some inside info. If not, e-mail us and we'll exchange what we know.
  19. Peter King was at The Ralph yesterday. Goat of the Week Buffalo QB Drew Bledsoe. A grim, dinosaur-like performance by a guy who, when confronted by a confusing, attacking defense (New England, Pittsburgh) looks too old to be really good anymore.
  20. Who ? He's dead to this place now. Let's NOT mention him again.
  21. I've mentioned that Morris fumble a few times here. He was in mid-air, about 3-4 feet off the ground when the ball came out. Would be reviewed and corrected today. Just a horrible call. And people wonder why the fans became unglued when we finally beat the Dolphins in Sept. 1980. The ultimate " The witch is dead ! " win. Showed a few highlights from that game on the scoreboard yesterday. One of my all time favorite games to be at.
