Lenny P. has some T. Henry stuff in Tip Sheet

I merged the threads. Didn't see the one yesterday, since I was outside all day with Temps in the high 60's in WNY. -
Lenny P. has some T. Henry stuff in Tip Sheet
Mark VI replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From Lenny P at ESPN : - Don't you just hate flip-floppers? Yeah, us, too, except when we are forced to reverse positions on an issue. Like the much discussed trade of Buffalo Bills disgruntled tailback Travis Henry to the Arizona Cardinals for left offensive tackle L.J.Shelton, who clearly has fallen out of favor with coach Dennis Green and his staff. We reported in this space two weeks ago that the swap would almost certainly occur before the draft. And now? We're not so sure. For one thing, upon further inspection, the Buffalo staff isn't nearly as enamored of Shelton as it once appeared to be. There are some Bills coaches who feel that Shelton would not be a starter in Buffalo, and that he probably would serve only as the team's No. 6 offensive lineman. That means, barring an unexpected event, the Bills plan to move starting center Trey Teague to left tackle, the position he played early in his career, with the Denver Broncos. It also probably means there will not be a straight player-for-player swap between the Bills and the Cardinals. The Bills still feel they need to get something more in return for Henry, a two-time 1,000-yard rusher, who lost his starting job to Willis McGahee last season, and who has vowed he will never again play in a Bills uniform. So if Henry isn't shipped off to Arizona, where does he go? Maybe back to the Bills, who certainly can afford to keep him, especially with a palatable base salary of $1.25 million. Sure, there would have to be some fences mended for Henry to play in Buffalo again. But the rhetoric and posturing of March and April, such as that done by Henry a couple weeks ago, typically is long forgotten [and forgiven] when teams start doling out paychecks. There also is the possibility that Buffalo could find a trade partner other than Arizona, and that notion isn't so far-fetched. A few other clubs have contacted Bills general manager Tom Donahoe and, while none has yet to approximate the ardor of the Cardinals, plenty can happen before the draft. Do not discount teams such as Tampa Bay, Seattle (if the Seahawks suddenly found a buyer for "franchise" tailback Shaun Alexander), Houston and Minnesota as potential suitors. - One of the reasons I'm not in the panic mode over Shelton is that Teague can bounce to the outside. Even though Teague is no star at LT, why make a move for Shelton if he's not considered an upgrade ? His 3 Mil in salary then becomes our problem. Losman is a 1st year starter but has mobility and a tendency to roll to his right, lessing the chance of the blindside hit. Tucker also showed me he could play Center at a quality level. I agree with Jay that the Bills started running the ball better when Tucker filled in for an injured Teague at Center. Tucker is extremely bright ( Princeton grad ) and can make correct calls at the line. Don't underestimate that factor. Some other factors... 1. Bills could have a legit shot at OT Adam Terry of Syracuse in Round 2, as Harv mentioned in another thread. 2. According to Ourlads Scouting, the 2006 Draft will have a healthy number of quality LT prospects available, unlike this year. Think TD and Co. aren't aware of this ? Making do with Teague for a year makes sense, knowing they will probably have a legit shot at a quality OT next year. 3. Henry could still garner a middle round pick while the draft is in progress. Once teams fail to see specific RB's drop to their slots in the first 2 rounds, Henry suddenly becomes a popular alternative with a few teams. A 3rd round pick perhaps ? We could sure pick a good player with that. Conclusion - It may all be smoke and mirrors, with Shelton coming here after all. But if the above comments prove to be true, I won't be in panic mode. If the Bills sit at #55, they will have several players on their big board that could fall to their slot. This Draft has very good depth at CB, if specific OL or DT's have already been selected. Some interesting players at TE and RB, which I'll list in a future thread. I see PLENTY of opportunities to help our roster, come Draft day. I'm NOT going to hang my hat on the proposed Shelton trade as a make or break deal for this off-season. That's nonsense. Too many folks have worked themselves into a lather over aquiring Shelton. Let the chips fall and we'll be fine. -
Lumsden is hardly an unknown to NFL scouts. With his size, speed and ability, someone should take him on Day 2. Would be a very popular pick in Buffalo. This guy is a legit talent who can help a team immediately.

http://2005.otcdraft.com/content/profiles/...e/AdamTerry.php I've seem plenty of mock drafts with Terry there at #55. I'm not convinced the Shelton deal is a sure thing.

Great job, Harv. Excellent positional analysis. Seems to be some very good depth at the CB position. The Bills could easily find a good prospect in round 2 or 3. I see a couple good TE's who could be had in the 3rd- 4th round. DT is a possibility, although I see little chance of Hawthorne of Wisconson. I don't see the depth at DT. OT is basically weak, unless they have targeted a couple prospects and have an idea where they may fall. A fair guess would be CB and TE early. Maybe a RB, if Hearst didn't check out physically. I was hoping for OL but it seems the quality may not be there after the early 2nd round ( before our pick), after doing lots of reading.

I'm starting to think many of the OL, Jones ( who I don't want ) and others mentioned here will be gone by the time the Bills make their 2nd round pick, especially if the Shelton trade never happens and they stay at #55. If the Bills already plan on bouncing Teague outside, then they'll hope for a top Center but may wind up using their two day 1 selections on something else, like CB,TE or RB. Never predict what TD is going to do. Last year, it looked like we'd draft a DE/DT in Round 1. We wound up with a WR ( Evans ) AND a QB ( Losman ). WHo saw that coming ?

I watch all the Ohio St. games and was very pleased the Bills drafted Anderson. He is very hard to move out and excels against the run. Even has a fair move to get into the backfiled, on occasion. I cannot answer the obvious question of why he wasn't active for most of the games. I'm guessing a combination of numbers at the position and techique had something to do with it. Edwards plays well on passing downs and Anderson is more of a run stuffer. I was a little dissapointed to see Pat Williams leave but Adams is the key guy in the rotation. He's the 2 gap DT who clogs the middle, drawing the double team and keeping the OL off of Fletcher. I don't think the dropoff is alarming at all. The draft could produce another candidate, if so desired.

Isn't Casper well over 70 years old ? I think I heard that this morning. I give him credit for finishing in that bad weather.

LOL ! Now I'll be watching Lambs' elbows at the next tailgate.

I'm tempted !

Predicting what TD will do on Draft day is like predicting which food Rosie O'Donnell won't eat at the buffet. Impossible.
-
That's just a terrible mock draft from top to bottom.

Rather than revisit the dead horsebeaters club again, let's return to the purpose of this thread. http://2005.otcdraft.com/content/profiles/...HeathMiller.php Not sure he'll even make it to #44. I agree the Matt Jones hype is a little much. I don't think Jones will make it to #44 either, so I'm looking for alternatives at TE. http://2005.otcdraft.com/content/profiles/.../AdamBergen.php Here's a guy who impressed the heck out of the Ourlads scouts at the East-West Shrine game and the Indy combine. Could be had in the 3rd or 4th round.

(Way OT) What do they do in Buffalo
Mark VI replied to plenzmd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sage advice, indeed. I adopted my daughter from Romania when she was 4. Went immediately into preschool and was OK. Then came Kindergarten and I could see she was falling behind in some basic teachings, so we held her back. Smartest thing we ever did. She needed to relax, mature and understand the language better. She's now in the 2nd grade and is doing very well. Every child is different and their well being should be primary in the decision. Struggling at a young age could have long range ramifications. My wife is a teacher and could see all the signs. Wasn't hard to make the decision and everything turned out for the best. She's a very happy child. -

Interesting but his health is ALWAYS an issue, plus he's in his mid 30's. Can't hurt to look at him...wait, with him it can !

Bullseye. " Why didn't TD draft ______ ? I've heard of him and that means we blew it ! "

I was gifted a pair back around 1992 and just tossed them this past year. Used them as PJ bottoms to sleep in. Never wore them out. Too busy. Still see multiple people wearing them at home games.
