NFL Execs expect Gathier trade
BillsGuyInMalta replied to WordByrd's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. The Bills would be wise to start floating some rumors that they are looking at Jamaal Brown. I know there is an ESPN report out there already saying the same thing but I doubt that has anything substantial backing it up. That way Buddy can counter with "well, if you really start dragging your feet we'll look elsewhere and you'll lose him for nothing next year". I still dont think Gaither to Buffalo happens, but if he does it clearly wont be any time soon. -

Great story, I got my own bachelor party coming up at the end of the month. Going to Montreal for 4 days of festivities and debauchery before I get hitched in August. -

NFL Execs expect Gathier trade

The optimism around this Gaither deal truly astounds me. I really wish I could be as optimistic as some of you, but every single sign I've seen over the last few days points to the Bills swinging and missing on this deal. Ozzie Newsome of the Ravens is a pretty straight shooter. If he said there were no "substantial trade offers" my best guess is the Bills came in and low-balled an offer, the Ravens shot them down immediately...and nothing has happened since. -

Ouch. This tweet from Wilson just about kills this rumor. Team officials have said they haven't received trade offers that would prompt them to move offensive tackled Jared Gaither or other players Sorry Buffalo, looks like we're stuck with Bell. -

Just to put a further damper on things, here are the latest tweets from Aaron Wilson, the Ravens Insider reporter. http://twitter.com/ravensinsider jared gaither didnt practice due to foot and toe inj harbaugh said hell get mri this week Jared Gaither has denied that his agent instructed him to sit out practice. John Harbaugh on Jared Gaither: 'It's basically a foot and a toe. He couldn't get through the first practice on Friday. It got worn out.' More Harbaugh on Gaither: "It got sore and he didn't feel he could go the rest of the time. That's what he said and that's where it stands Harbaugh cont. "He didn't tell me that he was protesting or anything like that. We had a conversation about a lot of things.." Harbaugh: "The reason he didn't practice is the foot, there is an issue there. He'll have an MRI and going to see a specialist this week. As much as I hate to say it, I think its clear that a trade to Buffalo is not going to happen any time soon (if at all, which is what I'm believing more and more) -
Ayup. And therein is their "out". Now they can pretend like a deal was coming, but blame it on the agent when it falls through. Listen everyone, they clearly just made up the rumor in the first place, this is the normal procedure to cover up their butts when it doesn't happen. Gaither is not coming to Buffalo. He may get traded, but it wont be here.

NFL Execs expect Gathier trade

UPDATE, via PFT. Gaither not on the field again today, and if he does indeed have an injury its "minor" at best. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...is-very-likely/ The last part is what every Bills fan needs to be aware of. The Ravens are wisely trying to play this out in the hopes that another team will get involved and drive up the price. If/When this happens, you can count us out of the Gaither sweepstakes...the Bills will not win a bidding war. -
I feel like the longer we hear nothing, the more likely is that he's coming back. If he REALLY...REALLY...REALLY didn't want to play in 2010, he would have decided to hang them up by now.

One more interesting piece of news, apparently Gaither wasn't made available to the media after the Ravens practice. Read into it as you will. http://twitter.com/RavensInsider -

While I agree that the Gaither trade is more than likely a pipe dream, Patrick Moran is not that much better than the original website that claims a deal is done. Moran has been called out countless times for simply making up stories and sources. My best guess is that he never emailed Schefter in the first place but is simply using his latest tweet as the basis for his own speculation. I just dont see why the Ravens would rush to get this done. Why not wait it out a few months until training camp and then wait for injuries to pile up? I seriously doubt we'll see Gaither in a Bills uniform any time soon. -
Where do rookies stay during mini-camps?

I can tell you some of the rookies are moving into the apartment complex where I live, right down the road from the stadium. -

To quote our friend Han Solo... "I got a bad feeling about this" I'm starting to think this deal wont happen at all. It would be par for the course to get us all excited only to have it go by the wayside. I trust Schefter waaaaaaaaaaaay more than that no name website that keeps trying to drive traffic to their site by claiming that a deal is done. I dont think its going to happen folks. -

Excellent. Its all falling into place. *laughs maniacally* I will say this though, I doubt anything happens for a few months. Ravens have no incentive to move him immediately. They'll wait until a team loses a LT in training camp and use it to drive up their price. -

Oh I completely agree. If this were the old regime, this VERY likely could have happened. Lets be happy Nix is in charge.
