2005 NFL Draft - Top Rated Centers
BillsGuyInMalta replied to Mark VI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree...this guy would be starting for us in 2006 for sure if we drafted him this year. I also want to see the Bills go O-Line in the 3rd round too...even if we do manage to get Shelton. -

Reason 4,217,441 that I'm leaving the South
BillsGuyInMalta replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Charleston, SC is one wacky town...a great place to visit for a few nights because of the atmosphere and beautiful environment, but you start picking up on a few odd things the longer you are there. At least Charleston has Tommy Condon's...a truly uberific and joygasmic bar. -
"Travis Henry is like...."

Does that mean that Arizona would be the cure to our herpes problem? -
No scrimmage vs Browns this year
BillsGuyInMalta replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its hard to get a decent scrimmage going against a team that held you to 17 total yards of offense. Hopefully this means we'll get a better team to watch the Bills scrimmage against... -
Where are the Bills reporters?
BillsGuyInMalta replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Methinks that TD knows something that Travis doesnt...its clear that the Bills liked Shelton enough to bring him in for a trip and keep him here for two nights. I think that TD knows he can push Arizona around and get something else out of them. That and I think the Cards realize that getting Henry is the best deal out there for them, and will enable them to address their weak Defense in the Draft instead of being forced to take a RB. The deal will hopefully get done soon...just for our sanity's sake. -
Packers rebuild line for less than $3 million
BillsGuyInMalta replied to bernie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If O'Dwyer means rebuilding, I'm glad the Bills are waiting. If we can land Anderson and then trade for Shelton, I'd say our O-Line is pretty damn good. Then draft a center with our 2nd rounder and best available O-Lineman regardless of position with our 3rd rounder and we'll have decent depth too. Shelton, Anderson, Teague, Villarial, Williams looks groovy to me...lets just hope TD can get this done. -
Looks like no comp picks this year
BillsGuyInMalta replied to HurlyBurly51's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The NFL needs to seriously reconsider the way they hand out comp picks. I think the record of the team needs to be considered before they start handing picks out as a way to "negate" the losses. Philly and New England actually got better when they ditched those players, so why would they need draft picks to overcome their loss when their record improved without them? It all just seems screwy to me. -
The Cards definitely wont keep Shelton on roster for this next season, he's already severed all ties with the team, much the same way Travis has done with us. My only fear is that TD pushes the Cards too far and they trade Shelton to a team for much less than what TD wants.

My guess is that Arizona was trying to save face by coming out with that 7 million dollar signing bonus thing because in that article that came out today, it seemed Travis was more than willing to play in Arizona this year and he made it sound like all that was needed was TD to okay the deal to send him to Arizona. I think that TD is playing hardball with the Cards, and they are attempting to cover their butts in the media so they dont come off as being bossed around by Donahoe.

I know it's a little early but.....
BillsGuyInMalta replied to Frez's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, I thought he did...he got an O-Line full of nobodies to the Superbowl, and a majority of the guys who consisted of that line were undrafted rookies or low-round draft picks. I'd say he did a very good job with the Giants...he cant help it if his players got hurt his last year...he can get them to play well above their level, but he cant control if they get injured or not. -
I'd give up our 3rd rounder, straight up for him. No Travis, just our 3rd rounder this year and thats it. The Cards should crap themselves if they get such a good offer from TD, but I'm more willing to give up a draft pick in order to solidify our O-Line.

Since we're talking draft...

Why have Frank Gore when we can have Maurice Clarrett? I've heard of him too! -
Travis Henry prepared to sit out
BillsGuyInMalta replied to bills_fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Alright, I'm sick of Travis and all of his complaining. I know why TD is waiting...he thinks he can get more out of Arizona. Notice the article stated that the deal is still on the table, all TD has to do is stop taking his "precious time" and get the deal done. But enough is enough. Let this guy go, bring Shelton in. Sure, we'd all like a pick as well as Shelton for Travis...but come on TD, cut this jerk go and lets all move on. This has all dragged on far too long. -
Since we're talking draft...
BillsGuyInMalta replied to Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dumb as a brick, constant injury problems and a string of inconsistent play...and yet people still want him. This is a deep draft with actually capable RBs...we dont need Gore. -
If we could only get it done...
-
I really hope the Bills dont take a DT in Round Two, just because I think that we addressed that last year with Anderson and we STILL have a very capable Ron Edwards on roster. On the O-Line...we have no decent depth like we do at DT and seriously need to consider using both our 2nd and 3rd rounders to bolster the O-Line.

Is David Baas worthy of our first pick
BillsGuyInMalta replied to RVJ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he might be the only person I wouldnt mind trading up for in Round 2 to get. He would be a staple on our O-Line for years...easily the most NFL ready Guard in the Draft. -
Is David Baas worthy of our first pick
BillsGuyInMalta replied to RVJ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Baas will be taken in the 1st round or, at the very latest, a few picks into the 2nd. No way do the teams picking at the top of the 2nd not upgrade their O-Line with this future Pro Bowler. -
D Wag...look at the Bills salary cap situation...we had to RELEASE Pierson just to get 2 million dollars under the cap. The Lions were 9 million dollars under. Its impossible to lowball a player when 2.2 million bucks would have put us over the cap. And dont give me your usual "well, TD could use some creative contracts to get under the cap" because that just doesnt fly. When you dont have the money, even if you get creative you are screwing the team because lets remember the Bills also have to make room for a rookie pool as well. Accept the fact that we dont have much money to spend in FA, and therefore we are going to lose out on some of the big name FAs. Stop acting like TD is purposely trying to sink the team...sheesh.

Can Buffalo find their way into the 1st rd?
BillsGuyInMalta replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My guess is this...if David Baas is still around by the 2nd round, you'll have TD making some calls to try to move up to get him. -
Yep, the one and only! They definitely are on my nerves, as of late.
-
Last I heard they were "in negotiations" with the NFL for the deal...but I'll believe that when I see the NFL Network on my sports channels.
-
No matter how you slice it....this offseason
BillsGuyInMalta replied to Rudyc80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I actually think that TD might trade up to get David Baas if he's still around in the 2nd. A player who is ready to start from Day One. The Bills were apparently hanging off of him at the Combine. -
On a positive note, draft analysts say that Losman
BillsGuyInMalta replied to Wiz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This year's QB class is really ugly, I'll give TD that. Aaron Rodgers is the only future-starter in my opinion, and even he has his problems. Dont let the stats fool you, Alex Smith strikes me as Ty Detmer, Version 2.0. Great college QB in a wide open system who'll flop badly in the NFL when teams figure out his tells.
