I'm not basing it on anything E$PN said, I just think its the most obvious choice. He's on the market, 6 years of head coaching experience, good defensive mind and said when he entered the league his dream job would be to come back and be the head coach for the Bills. If I had to guess, I bet Haslett got contacted today about coming in for an interview...cant say I'd like him becoming our new head coach, but thats my best guess at this point.

Ahhhhh John Clayton...master of the freak-out, king of the opinions with no facts to back them up. Lets face it though, things in Buffalo are pretty crappy right now...but worse organizational mess in 10 years? How about when the Dolphins imploded and hired Dan Marino as their GM? Say what you will about Marv...but when it comes to scouting and free agenct decisions I think 99.9% of all fans would trust Marv over the human tree-stump that is Dan friggin Marino.

I'm not a big fan of hiring Haslett, but couldnt you consider him a Buffalo guy BEFORE he became a Pittsburgh guy?

Here is the best compliment you'll get out of me about Jim Haslett. Considering the humiliating team that is the New Orleans Saints franchise, he didn't do THAT bad. Thats the best I can say about him.

I'd give up a 4th rounder for Marty like the Chiefs did for Herm Edwards. Nothing higher than a 4th though, no first day picks for Marty...not when guys like Sherman and Mooch are out there for free.

This team had a lot more problems than just poor QB play...Bledsoe would still have had NO time to throw the ball, and our Defense still wouldnt be able to stop anyone. Maybe he would have won us one or two more games, but still no way we make the playoffs even with him as our QB.

Not going anywhere. Already said he's staying in Tennessee and looking forward to continue improving the team. Good contract, fans love him, players love him, owner loves him...how are we going to pry him loose? Trust me, Fischer would be my top choice too...but its not realistic at this time.

I heard that as well, but figured I might as well include him since nothing is official yet...plus, with Denver still in the playoffs, it might be another week or two before the Texans even get to interview him.

Who do y'all want as HC? I went through the boards and put every coach suggested in this poll. I had to back off on those who were joke suggestions or ones that were impossible at this time (Fischer and Ferentz...the Titans owner said he's their man and will be staying in Tennessee for awhile, and Ferentz has made it obvious he is staying at Iowa and does not want to uproot his family). So here we go, kinda interested to see how a real HC poll turns out...gage the public's opinion and such. Or if I did forget someone, feel free to drop their name in this thread.

Marv will not be the head coach...he kinda danced around it a bit but when he was forced to answer, he said taking the GM job means he wont be on the sidelines. So moving on...do the Bills actually go balls out and hire a respected coach like Sherman or Mooch or go the "familiar" route with Haslett or Cottrell?

You really need the right O-Lineman to pull it off...smaller, more athletic. Could you imagine Bennie Anderson trying to zone block? That means he has to THINK and BLOCK at the same time...two things he apparently cant do at once. Heck, he cant even do them seperately.

I'm going to lay good money down right now that we dont land Bentley or Hutchinson in free agency.

I still feel VERY nervous about this team and their chances to attract any good HC canidates/free agents...but listening to Marv always makes things easier on us fans.

Why would Denver ever want to do that, considering they can plug in the 4th string undrafted RB from Army and still come up with a 1,000 yard rusher? Makes no sense to me

So what you're saying is Mike Sherman seems absolutely perfect for the Bills job and has the potential to lead this team out of the bog they've wandered into? *DING* But Jim Haslett played for us once! Haslett! Haslett! Haslett! I agree with you, Sherman is my #1 choice...but it wont happen. Levy and Wilson will go the "familiar" route and take either Haslett or Cottrell.

The guy is well respected in the NFL, LONG overdue for a HC job, I definitely have a very positive image of him, worked with Levy before and loved by his players. Could be worth a look and salvage this hilariously inept offseason so far.
