Thats great news actually...taking an extra month to get a new CBA deal in place means that we wont enter that screwed-up uncapped 2007 year. This shows progress is being made though...looks like both sides realized what needs to be done.

I remember when the Chiefs creamed themselves waaaaay too early in FA a couple of years ago and signed Shawn Barber when they probably could have had a shot at Takeo Spikes if they just waited a week. Their loss, our gain.

There are a lot of O-Lineman I like...to be honest, I'd like to see the Bills just rush out on the first day of free agency and lock up Jeff Backus or Kevin Shaffer. Just lock up our LT spot once and for all with a solid, young guy. I'd feel so much better just knowing we handled that one spot.

You know...just a thought...would it be possible to TRADE Eric Moulds and still get the cap savings? I'm not sure how that would work in terms of who pays what part of his contract...and I know it would be difficult to find a team willing to take his huge numbers, but I'd hope if he wants to leave we could at least try and work out some compensation from another team.

I dont think anyone can blame the Bills for cutting Graham though when he was here...I think we all cringe when we think back to the Arians/Graham Experiment.

They're probably just seeing if they can get anywhere with contract negotiations first. Pretty standard really.

The big problem I see with your plan is the HUGE hole at WR. You really want Roscoe Parrish as our #2 WR? Please. And keeping Mike Williams and his massive contract? The guy has shown that he's not capable of playing at a decent level, he's got to be cut so we can spend that money on O-Line improvements. Honestly our O-Line doesnt look that much better using this offseason plan at all. However, props for the work on the D-Line, that would give us a great interior.

If a team signs him to that contract and the Bills do not choose to match, they get two first rounders as compensation for whatever team signs him. Say the Giants sign his franchise tender and give him a long-term deal, we get their first rounder this year and next. However, the Bills can simply franchise him and trade him for whatever deal they can get, much like they did with Peerless.

I think there should at least be an effort to reduce Moulds salary cap numbers. I agree that he's not worth 10 million bucks a year, but looking at the options we'll have in FA, I cant say I'd rather have any of those guys above Eric Moulds. However, I'm a realist...I understand if Moulds refuses to come down from 10 million bucks a year, we have to cut him. I'd just like to see an attempt on both sides made to keep him before we're stuck with guys like Corey Bradford as our #2 receiver *shudder*

I completely disagree with you when it comes to Mike Williams. He's cut regardless of what the Bills do in free agency. Having such a huge salary, and bringing such little talent on the field makes him an easy decision. Cut him, free up the 6 million bucks and see if we can talk Moulds down from his current salary. I think cutting Moulds will be a very stupid idea, that would put the legendary Roscoe Parrish in as our 2nd WR...and this FA and Draft class of WRs looks pretty craptacular. I'd find a way to hold onto Moulds.

Well hey...they can still have him, just as long as they send us their shiny 1st round pick in exchange. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of Nate...I think he gets burned far too often and takes credit for a lot of things he's just generally supposed to do as a starting CB. Scanning over the FA list, there a couple of guys I think we coud sign who would step right into the starting spot, and save us some cash we could use towards improving our O-Line or interior D-Line.

Basically, this is the unofficial "Franchise tag is coming" notification. Sorry to all of those other NFL teams who were hoping to get Nate in FA...looks like they'll have to give up something if they want "The Playmaker".

Dont get me wrong, even when the Sabres play sloppy they are still better than 20 other NHL teams, but this team wont survive in the playoffs if they let teams hang around like they have been doing lately. As it stands, the Sabres are still only the 3rd or 4th best team in the East.

Briere definitely...Connolly probably not for another two weeks after the Olympics. It just seems to me that the Sabres still need to get a killer edge to them, a lot of times it seems like they let up too much in games when they are playing with the lead.

Yup...anyone who thinks the Sabres are the best team in the East has a lot to learn. We're good, and we'll make the playoffs interesting...but our lack of another solid defenseman killed us in this game and will keep us far from the Cup. Its only going to get worse after the break if the Sabres dont pull a trade and get someone stronger back there.

Poor Sabres couldnt pull out the win in Carolina though...that'll sting. It seems like every time we have a chance to make a serious run at the top, we get smacked down and held back at #4. Its a pain, but getting a point tonight is better than nothing I suppose. Its just a shame they have to sit on this for two weeks, I would have loved to see them rock out with a victory. Ah well.
