  1. Somewhat related...Shaun Alexander just signed an 8 year deal to re-sign with the Seahawks and Ahman Green signed a one-year deal to stay with the Packers.
  2. I'll bet you we'll see a signing at 6:00am though...right before Marv goes to the Country Kitchen Buffett. You know the oldies are the early risers.
  3. I bet Brees go to Minnesota. In fact, he could probably be headed there tomorrow.
  4. Although to the Raiders credit, thats probably the only cut they'll have to make since Collins had a very inflated cap number. Just means they have NO QBs now...and no money to get one in FA...and out of reach of anyone but Cutler in the Draft.
  5. On ESPNews today they talked about Upshaw stating earlier in the day that a salary cap would be in the plans for any future CBA negotiations. So yeah...screwed for next year, but I have no doubt the cap will be returning...whenever they pull their heads out of their butts.
  6. NFL | Labor talks break off again Sun, 5 Mar 2006 15:41:49 -0800 ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the NFL labor talks broke off once again about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 5. Both sides left the meeting not being optimistic of getting a deal done. "Unless there's a miracle - right now we're going forward with the current collective bargaining agreement," Mortensen said. Well...we're screwed next season. However, who else is going to hang around until 10pm to watch the Redskins purge their roster?
  7. Mort reported that the owners asked the players union for an extension to Wed at 4pm to get a CBA deal done.
  8. Only two hours before the purge! Danny Snyder is going to need oxygen.
  9. When we first brought him on as a UDFA, I had to do a double-take and make sure I read his name correctly.
  10. We only have room for ONE Choad on this team, and he's our backup RB.
  11. Yeah I remember that as well...2nd or 3rd rounder I think it was for being over the cap.
  12. I've actually got to update my mock draft soon, I figure I'll give a week of FA activity to kick off before I go back and revise it. Like as much as I love O'Callaghan, if we go out and sign Runyan than obviously that pick wouldnt make too much sense. But yeah, Lutui is a damn good player...I think he's a little underrated actually, I think he's the 2nd best Guard behind Max Jean-Gilles.

  14. More stuff... Negotations have broken off about half an hour ago. Players said the deal is dead. Gene Upshaw is headed back to Washington DC, and unless someone wants to be a "hero"...he's leaving and its not going to happen. Someone get the razor away from Danny Snyder! Interesting thing was just said though...mentioned that while 2007 is probably going to be "uncapped", there is no doubt that a salary cap will exist in the NFL when a new deal is reached...whenever the hell that is.
  15. Reporting that talks are now "dead as a door nail".
  16. I still say that the O-Line needs at least two new starters on it from FA. Runyan is a great one who should help the RT spot right away...but I'd still like to see another Guard or Center be brought in through FA.
  17. I was talking about moving Peters to LT and keeping Runyan at RT.
  18. More importantly, he has his XFL championship...
  19. "I don't really have a day job, sir"
  20. I'd be reluctant to draft him simply because of that injury. It still fairly recent that it happened so he'll need some time to not only fully recover, but also to adjust to the speed of the NFL game. Wouldnt take him in the first or second, but if he's still hanging around when our second 3rd rounder hits...we should at least consider him.
  21. I'm actually amazed that Shaun King is still alive.
  22. He was decent last year, but I'm just terrified of putting him over at LT like some people are suggesting (and will probably happen if Runyan comes on board.) In much the same way I'm not hating on Losman until I see him with more than a year starting under his belt, I'm not creaming over Peters until I see the same from him. And damn, 8000 posts? Time flies when you're rambling incoherently.
  23. Runyan still has some gas in the tank...hell, I cant remember a season where he didnt start every game. I'd love to see Runyan or Kevin Shaffer brought in...I'm still not too crazy about Jason Peters being on our O-Line though. Edit: According to NFL.com, Runyan has started every single game for the last 9 years. http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/4195
