You think the Bills will just waste all of that cap space on Eric Moulds if he refuses to play? Sure EVENTUALLY we'll get the cap space back if he continues to sit, but by that time FA will be long over. Wouldnt that be a huge blow to this team's attempt to get better by having a guy who wont play tie up that much cash that could be better spent improving this team? If he sits...we get nothing. If we cut him, at least we free up some cash. To me Eric knows what he's doing...its low, but he's getting his ticket out of Buffalo one way or another.

I agree with the original post. I dont think we'll get any serious offers since teams will just assume the Bills wont keep an 8 million contract on their payroll if Moulds refuses to play and will eventually cut him. Moulds holds all the cards here. And yes, if he doesnt play...he doesnt get paid at all...but we STILL have to keep that huge contract on payroll and make room for it, so it seems kind of a waste to do so. Moulds is trying to force the Bills to cut him...not trade him to get some sort of compensation...but to just cut him. And I think eventually thats just what we'll do. It sucks...but tis the reality of the NFL.

I'd dig another 3rd round pick for sure, especially in this very deep draft.

I agree with you on Bunkley, I'm terrified the Bills will blow it and draft this guy at #8. I have yet to see a reasonable argument for him aside from someone strangely dissing Haloti Ngata to prove Bunkley's worth. However, I'm not a big fan of Justice either...wasnt he suspended for an entire year in 2004?

I guarantee you if Green Bay re-signed him for the exact same contract and offered him a shot at the starting job if Favre retired, there would be no coverage on this. People might actually say it was a smart move since he's shown some good talent in his short NFL career. But its SOOOOO easy to make fun of old people, and honestly I expect this type of thing to continue until the Bills show up on the field and silence their critics (any decade now...)

However, Greg Johnson, Moulds' personal adviser, said working out a trade will be difficult because both the Bills and Moulds' new team would have to agree on draft pick compensation. The team would likely want to work out a new contract before trading for him as well. EIGHT teams? Me likey...drive that price up. Plus, isnt that reporting a little spotty? Its going to be difficult to trade because the Bills have to agree on compensation? How is that any different from ANY trade that goes down between NFL teams? Seems that sort of thing is implied. I'd say the biggest hurdle is not the compensation (only so many options), its Moulds obscene contract.

The Packers, who are like 30 million dollars under the cap and have an even worse interior O-Line than we do, didnt seem to motivated to bring him back. That alone is a red flag to me over Flanagan. To be honest, I'm very happy with Melvin Fowler, I was a fan of him when he came out into the Draft so hey...I got my wish, 5 years later.

Mort just said "if he's available". So it could mean if he gets cut, or it could mean "for the right price". Honestly though, we probably wont be cutting him any time soon so at least it helps drive up the price the more teams we get involved.

Mort said on Sportscenter a few minutes ago that Green Bay could jump into the Eric Moulds derby. Favre wants an improvement at WR and Mort suggested they could go after Moulds.

Whoooo! Lets ignore the gaping hole at DT, OT and OG and go for a TE! Whoooo! Drafting skill players has worked so well the last few years, why ruin what we got going on here? We need grunts, plain and simple. We need boring but effective picks in the draft, screw the sexy flavor of the month picks. Drafting a TE would only mean Losman has another option to LOOK at before he's run over by incoming defensive linemen.

Why not just draft one of the better Guards (Like Giles or Joseph) instead of taking Mangold? I think Fowler is going to be an excellent center for us, so taking a guard with that 2nd first round pick would be more to my liking.

Its funny, if you check out some Broncos boards, none of the fans are willing to give up anything higher than a 5th round draft pick for Moulds.

A few years ago if you told me I'd be glad we re-signed Ryan Denney, I'd tell you to slap me. But Denney has turned out to be a very solid run-stopper...glad we got this done.

I'd definitely give up the #8 for two first rounders...although I dont think the Broncos would bite on that until the Draft actually kicks off. If both Leinart and Young are gone by pick #7, I think we'll get a panic trade by Denver if Cutler is truly the man they are targeting.
