Ralph is explaining the CBA and his problems with it. He seems a lot more "with it" today than he has the last few Press Conferences. -
Ralph has shrunk so much, he's hiding underneath the helmet.

Mike Williams only played ONE season with Chris Simms as the starter (2001). The rest of his career was played with Major Applewhite as the starter, a right-handed QB. What is odd is that Big Mike struggled badly with handling the speed rushers when he had to protect Simms blindside in 2001, but he was still drafted at #4. On the flip side, Winston Justice has shown no problems covering Leinart's blindside for two seasons (and has also done the deed for a right handed QB during his freshman year) and has dominated at his job assignment. To me there is no comparison. Big Mike couldnt cover anyone's blindside in college, but we never even asked him to do it in the NFL anyways, we just plugged him in at RT and let him fat away. Winston Justice has done VERY well covering the blindside of Matt Leinart (not exactly a burner by any means), so it makes sense to me teams would want him to do so in the NFL at the LT spot and continue his success. When it comes to improving the Bills O-Line, he sounds like a great option to me.

The Vikings are sheduling a visit with QB Cutler.
BillsGuyInMalta replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its honestly the price we'd have to pay. You're right, we'd lose out on the guys you see most mentioned as possible Bills selections, but there are still plenty of options in the middle of Round One to improve this team. For OT, guys like Eric Winston and Marcus McNeil will still be on the board. For DT, Gabe Watson and Claude Wroten For Safety, Jason Allen, Donte Whitner, Daniel Bullocks, and Darnell Bing would all be there. And for TE, Marcedes Lewis and Leonard Pope would still be around. If we end up trading down, we miss out on an elite talent, but in this deep draft we'd get two very strong players in return. We are lucky that this draft is deep in the areas we need it, so trading down to stockpile picks and really boost the lines sounds like a good idea to me. -
Here's to not going 0-16!

I guarantee that the Vikings will be trading up in this draft...and we are the perfect partners. We give up the #8 pick so they can take Young or Cutler (one or both will still be there) They give up #17 and #48 overall. Our Draft Pick Value = 1400 Minnesota Draft Pick Value = 1370 If you REALLY want to get closer, we could get their 5th rounder too so it would be 1400 (us) to their 1401 value. Pretty damn close if you ask me...I'd make that trade in a heart beat...and I think once the Draft begins, panic will take over Minnesota when they realize they have no shot at the top 3 QBs unless they trade up. -

If Marv trades our '06 1st round pick
BillsGuyInMalta replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it would have to depend on which team we traded with. If we made the deal with a team like the Seahawks, Steelers, Patriots, Colts, etc...a team that will more than likely be playoff bound next season...I would be angry. However, if we did the deed with say...the Niners...I'd love that. -
Winston Justice protected Leinart's blindside through, remember that Matty is a left-handed QB...so he played the typical LT role, just over at RT. I dont think there will be ANY problem with him making the transition, most draft reports I've read on him just list him as a Left Tackle anyways for that very reason.

Bills To Bring In Another WR?

Come on...who WOULDNT buy a Ricky Proehl Bills jersey? The guy is the last Tecmo player ever! -
http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=3702 Buffalo's need for a receiver in the NFL Draft has jumped significantly. The Bills need to land a receiver capable of challenging for the number-two role. The problem is with other significant needs on both the offensive and defensive lines, receiver likely can't be addressed until Round Three at the earliest. So finding an answer in the draft for the 2006 season is unlikely. The free agent crop of wide receivers is pretty thin at this point, but the Bills have a couple of options. For the interim the most experienced candidate on the roster to replace Moulds is the recently re-signed Sam Aiken. Aiken operated as Moulds' backup in the previous offensive system. He figures to be battling for the number two role with whoever else the coaching staff deems worthy, signs or acquires in the draft. Other potential candidates are Andre Davis and George Wilson. Josh Reed and Roscoe Parrish are better fits as inside receivers and likely won't factor into a competition. Look for the Bills to scour free agency and possibly host a few player visits over the next couple of days. ------------------------------------- For those wondering what FAs are available (and when they say pretty thin, they mean it), here are guys still looking for jobs Dez White (Average) Kevin Johnson (Lets reunite the Browns WR crew, whoo!) Randy Hymes (Who?) Az-Zahir Hakim (Possible) Peerless Price (Everyone cross your fingers...hilarity might ensue) Ricky Proehl (Old...but still very reliable) Johnnie Morton (Old...some would argue still reliable) Reggie Swinton (Ewwww) Eddie Berlin (Not very good) Michael Lewis (Beer Man can still return the ball...never much of a WR) Jerome Pathon (Terrible year in 2005) Out of that less than stellar group, I'd take Hakim, White, Proehl...and yes, I'd give Peerless another shot. But honestly, I dont think any of them could compete for that 2nd WR job in the...god, I apologize for this pun in advance...but in the mold of Moulds. Time to see how long it takes for a "GET JAVON WALKER" post to show up.

Exactly, what are people complaining about? I actually think this schedule benefits us.

I'd go to the dollar store, pick up a bunch of those cheapo D Cell batteries, paint them green and sell them for 5 bucks a pop outside of the Philly stadium that day. I have a feeling I'd make a fortune, nothing says "The proper way for Philly fans to express one's rational anger" like chucking batteries at TO from the stands. -
I actually like having the 1pm start times all season long...and hey, isnt that good that our team isnt jumping out to the West Coast every other week?

Anyone think we could land Hawk and Bing
BillsGuyInMalta replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think we are just opposite minds on the character issues Rich, I'm willing to let the kids have another shot because I think both fit our system like a glove. To me, the upside is just TOO huge to pass on a guy like Justice just because when he was 18 he made an idiot out of himself. For what its worth, the other DT I was flipping back and forth over to include WAS Oshinowo, so I wouldnt be upset at all to see the Bills take him instead of Dvoracek. I think both will do well in the NFL as run pluggers. As for Pittman, he's a hard card to read...some projections have him going as high as a 3rd, others have him going undrafted. To me, there are still huge question marks around size and durability which will scare some teams off, so I think later in Day Two is when he'll come off the boards. Will he be there by Round 7? I'm beginning to have second thoughts about that lately (maybe more like 5th), but I'll stick with him in my mock until the draft week when I update it again. -

Yay! Lets ignore the lines! Yay! Its time to stop ignoring the problem and just take the BORING picks. Give me Day One of nothing but O-Line and D-Line and I'd be happy. -
Good god, Wayne Gandy is still alive? He's got to be closing in on his late 30s by now.

Deuce isnt as good as Davin Joseph is. Dont get me wrong, he's a damn fine player and should be a solid Guard in the NFL for years, but Joseph is downright dominant and hopefully will be our selection in the 2nd. However, it would be kind of funny for our new starting LT and LG to both be from USC.
