Carolina, Not Handling Adversity
Brian Cohen replied to Alaska Darin's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Ummmmmm, yea, the atmosphere would be once in a lifetime if even 15 percent of the people in attendance understood what they were watching. Since the game will be in Raleigh, that won't be the case. e-ball should sell the damn tickets, for the same reason as the last game he had tickets for. get the scalper prices. even though they're so much lower than what they would be in a real hockey town. and by the way, if you hate buffalo and the people of buffalo so much, which is clearly evident from this post, so don't bother trying to backtrack from it, why don't you go the !@#$ away? It's clear from your Cole comments that you don't understand hockey, it's clear from your comments here that you hate Buffalo, and Buffalonians. Why exactly do you love the Bills? I'm assuming that's what your handle refers to...really, I'm wondering... -
Carolina, Not Handling Adversity
Brian Cohen replied to Alaska Darin's topic in Off the Wall Archives
ha ha ha, great answers as always. i still can't help but think if darcy/golisano gave it up the sabres could have had pronger and the cup would already be in buffalo. didn't you sense early that this was the year, the best chance ever, for the cup...isn't that worth mortgaging whatever was necessary? I don't follow other teams as much as the Sabres, I admit, but why didn't they get Pronger? (even if he is a dick.) I can't help thinking he is the difference between the cup, and just knowing we had the best team. -
When Buffalo people relocate, where are the headed
Brian Cohen replied to Bills/Sabresfan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Comparative advantage is the term you're looking for. Compare the total package per location, Buffalo vs. California, then you have your answer. For Buffalo to compete, it has to offer more to businesses than other areas, not less, or even an equivalent advantage. You can whine about hearing the same old song all you want, and watch the area die. Until the public sector unions give at least a little, taxes come down, and government provides at least a semblance of transparency, wny will not grow, will not attract or create these kinds of businesses. No one investing their own money would put it in wny the way things are now, it has nothing to do with a lack of creative capital....unless they are a martyr or an incredible visionary.....with tons of money to buy off the right people. But again, the bottom line as far as your question is the lifestyle of california vs. the lifestyle of buffalo. as much as many of us love it.....i think that's because we're odd. most people from across the country would say cali in a minute. so buffalo has to offer more, thus the plm with the unions, taxes, govt, etc. -
Game 5: Sabres @ Hurricanes, 7:30 EST
Brian Cohen replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
There's a reason why this isn't done. Now both goalies will be looking over their shoulders. Even if they get by the Sabres, they will pay for this shiznit against the Oilers. Laviolette is a tool. -
as long as they don't have to play another canadian team and get jobbed again, they are looking good.
-
no, i cant until the bills choose the guys john clayton says to....then he promised that his g-f will do me. but i think she (he) has a rooster.
-
i think the focus right now is improving on third down. triplett and mccargo with schobel/kelsay is much better. especially considering that our first rounder will be covering the slot man, allowing our defense a lot more flexibilty in every situation. mccargo/triplett will generate a lot of pressure on passing downs that we didnt have before.....that leads to punts and turnovers, which are the hallmark of great defenses.

holy sh--, that's it!!! ralph doesnt mind paying out the bucks he's required to due to the rookie scale, but he wont fork over the 5 bucks for the draft guide!!!! that cheap mother-f---er. We could have gotten the all important A from the gnomish, never laid nerd john clayton if ralph would have forked over the 5 bucks!!! my life would have changed!!! i would have been laid!!!! that cheap son of a b---- ralph is just angling to sell to l.a. anyway.

yea, i agree eslinger is a possibility, but i think they'll go tackle or guard with the next pick. i've just gotten the feeling that they really think fowler is a starting caliber center-and that's all it really comes down to on day 2, right? whatever the feeling is in the war room. there's just not enough physically to separate these guys from one another, so they will go with the position/player they feel most strongly about....so my guess is kevin boothe from cornell...but eslinger, or gilles, or jonathan scott would all be great picks in the 4th round. if they pick another defensive player.....i guess i'd have to start to question this new regime. they've done a great job picking immediate contributors so far, but the ol has to be the next area to be addressed, right?
-
true...there are a couple guys that i still think would start, if not this year, then next, for this team...kevin boothe, a guard from cornell(i think this is the guy the bills will take) or jonathan scott from tx....those are 2 guys with a good deal of upside potential. hass is a poor man's wayne chrebet....and he fills a role that is really lacking on the current roster as a guy that can make the tough catch over the middle.
-
i agree. i'm hoping the first two picks tomorrow are offensive linemen, or an o-lineman and mike haas from oregon. the offense should be the focus of day 2, for sure.
-
you're not serious, are you? i think about 85 or 90 percent of the posters here had serious questions about bunkley and wouldnt have been happy if he was the pick. never mind that he lasted several picks past nbr. 8. so why was that, if he was such a slam dunk?
-
there was another team who got the best ot at #4 and the best center in the draft a couple years ago, and their offensive line still sucks-the oakland raiders. the jets will be at the bottom of the division next year, especially if they try to start both these rookies. how many rookie o-line starters play effectively? almost none. the bills did far more to improve themselves for next year than the jets did. long term, who knows? but those that predict disaster for the bills and good things for the jets next year based on these draft picks are not being realistic.
-
sounds reasonable. but lets take the patriots, for example. how did they do without seymour? the eagles without owens? the truth of today's nfl is that you must grab difference makers when you have a chance. be right, and you win. be wrong (m. williams) and you lose. this year, you only trade the 8 if you have no clue what you are doing. the morons you've got out there will talk about depth all day long, but difference makers are what separate the winners from the also rans. a certain level of competence is required, which you can get from the draft or free agency. the draft is the winner's market for difference makers.

OL and DL do not concern me as much
Brian Cohen replied to Chicken Wing '73's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
well, i suppose that's true, if you take as a given that everything that has come out of one bills drive is a smokescreen. everything they have said publicly indicates that they are playing a one gap scheme. everything that has come from someone local or connected says they are playing a one gap scheme. it might be possible they are playing a one gap scheme. maybe they'll suprise everybody and play 2 gap come september, but i kind of doubt it at this point. there is a difference between skeptical and obtuse-try to keep that in mind. -
and what evidence do you have for that? how do you know teague's wonderlic is higher than peters? racist mofo.

Kimmie Meissner wins World Title
Brian Cohen replied to millbank's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
fuggin butterface. and if you care about anything else........not that theres anything wrong with that but, you know..... -
mike gandy isnt a !@#$ing liability if you watched the fawking games, friend. he's an unspectacular guy, but not bad. for whats avl at the price he's a foine lg.
-
a foine plan kelly......but...gandy will start at lg, or lt....he will not be a back up this yr. i agree wholeheartedly that willis will play from the one back this yr, with 2 te's.. royal and a pass catcher, the only question is who.
-
I think this signing signifies one of 2 things: the bills are drafting vernon davis and will go with a 2 te set, eliminating the plm of royal being one dimensional, or everett is healthy and a phenom, and the bills will play a mainly 2 te set. either way, obviously, i see a 2 te set, and shelton probably going away. rb-mcgahee, te royal and davis/everett/euhus, wr evans and parrish.....this gives the offense enough options out of its base to be able to dictate to the defense, which is a prerequisite for success. enough with the gilbride/mularkey philosophy of taking what the defense gives.....this admin will play offense !!!!!!!!!!!
-
oh christ, f-ing butch rolle, anybody????? marv is not averse to using 2 tight ends.....we have no idea how everett is doing in rehab, euhus is a fourth rounder who had only showed potential before being hurt.....etc......signing royal i believe is half the equation....if everett, or euhus brings an every down threat as a pass catcher, this team is done at te, otherwise, davis is a distinct possibilty. it all depends on how the team feels those guys are progressing in pt.

Those with Comcast, ever check out Hockey Live?
Brian Cohen replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I use comcast for broadband service-the flyers-sabres game is the first one i saw over the internet, and i was pleasantly surprised. they had some douchebag and rob ray (msg coverage) but it was good. i will catch whatever i can this way until the playoffs. at that point i will need to pay. -
Ah, the fresh air that is the truth.
Brian Cohen replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I really am looking for a sensible debate, on sensible terms. In a subsequent response, I did say i was trying to provoke a response, particularly from you. Sorry I didnt wait long enough for your response before posting again. I did read your response carefully before responding. Save your patronizing responses. The point is that you admit that your view is probably not the view of most Palestinians. Can you explain the position of Fatah regarding the composition of the Palestinian leadership other than this? Ok, i'm sending a PM, because I am serious about this discussion, and dont want it to degenerate. -

Brian Cohen replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Fair enough. I will admit I was being a dick-props for the serious response. I will respond in kind. I agree that there may have been other reasons for people to vote for Hamas other than its pledge to exterminate Israel. My point is that these people should have learned from history. there were any number of reasons to vote for the Nazis other than their hard line positions towards the Jews. Those positions, however, should have excluded them from power. They did not, however, to the continuing detriment of the state of Germany. A point to remember, for those espousing the cause of the Palestinians. -
let me put this in terms you possibly might understand Johnny: HA HA PWNED!!!!LOL Have a nice day.
