Haven't seen this particular documentary but seeing what else went on back then, I don't know what reason he would have to make up additional bad stuff. Also many of his NFL contemporaries are still around today to call him out on it if he did. Buffalo News article critical of documentary Quotes from James Harris, Marlin Briscoe, Jack Kemp, Jimmie Giles, Doug Williams, Jerry Izenberg, and John Rauch on the same subject.

Hey, thanks for that link. That seems to be a lot less brutal that way, I mean from what I had read I thought some guys were having to stretch a couple grand for 6 or more weeks lol (sneak in tupperware to stash training table food).

Not silly at all, I had wondered that myself. The info was kind of difficult to find but it seems (unless I misunderstood it) that each NFL team is allowed a $75,000 combined pool for all their UDFA's. UDFA's don't get a "Game Check" because they have not made the team, that 75k is split up between the them as "signing bonuses". From what I was able to find out these vary from around 3k to 20k depending on the perceived value of the free agent and how many of them the team plans on signing. I guess after that they are on their own til they make the team, if they do they get $285,000 split up into "game checks". link, and link. That's as close as I can figure it, somebody else feel free to correct this if I got it wrong.

Epic rant by Detroit Lions fan on CraigsList
angryfan62 replied to Golden Wheels's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was truly epic man, thanks for posting. Saved the page cause I'm sure his post will get flagged by some goody 2 shoes and I wanted to show it to a few friends. I don't let this team get me twisted anymore, I just keep saying before the season starts that this year we'll turn it around. Sooner or later I have to be right...Right? -

Yup, that was right after he got the crap fined out of him for "bumping" another ref. -

I've watched football for an awful long time, and even though Sapp was a ferocious D Lineman in his time, his actions on the field really made me question his emotional stability. I know football is a game of violence and mild mannered folks probably need not apply but skipping through the opposing teams pre game warmups and starting fights, dropping multiple f-bombs at and "bumping" refs, cheap shotting players into the hospital, repeatedly getting himself ejected and repeatedly costing his team big penalties, and repeatedly getting the everloving crap fined out of him. I was officially "done" with this guy when during a game against us he ran over to our Gatorade table and grabbed a cup, drank it, then flipped the whole table over, wetting down the Gatorade kid and wrecking his hard work, he was then flagged (again) for "Unsportsmanlike Conduct" (I was also quite upset that our team just stood around and looked at him instead of quickly drawing a few penalties of their own). People who are mean to little kids suck, f-him. There's fiery competitiveness, there's good natured bravado, and "trash talk", these are all part of the game I guess, but then there's just plain "douchebaggery". A guy like that should not be representing the NFL on TV, let alone being nominated to the HOF on the 1st ballot. -
LOL...No way, I had been looking forward to it since it was announced that it would be televised on NFLN. Had been putting it off and thought I had plenty of time to knock it out before gametime, turns out I was off by about 15 mins. Had to get it done pre game though or otherwise I'd of had to mow drunk, and we all know that's just wrong .

I had to cut grass and so missed the 1st part of the 1st quarter, so I didn't get to see how many of our veterans did but the one thing I noticed right away was the increased speed and physicality of the this years D from sideline to sideline. I always cringed last season any time there was intentional misdirection pass plays or sharp cutbacks on runs by opposing offenses. So many times I watched what should have been either cold stops in the backfield or line of scrimmage (at best maybe a 2 or 3 yd gain) turn into big 1st downs because our lb corps either couldn't quite get back across the field in time to make a tackle or never got off the initial block in the 1st place. It was a very pleasant surprise to see cutback runners and swing pass receivers actually getting stopped this game (most of the time anyway).

Bills to give out security-approved bags at home opener

Excuse me but...Lawyer Milloy did NOT cheat...He simply took full advantage of the fact that his former coach was so completely arrogant and disrespectful towards both him specifically, and the Bills in general that he couldn't be bothered to change his offensive game plan even through he knew that Milloy both knew it himself and was most certainly going to inform us of it. One of my all time favorite games, the Bills defense had Pats receivers "exploding" the instant their hands touched the ball lol . Here it is if anyone's feeling nostalgic: Bills crush Pats . Yeah I know it's kinda crap quality but hey what do you want? The game's 10 years old lol. That being said, our 2nd meeting with them that season was one of the most infuriating examples of p**s poor coaching (and there are SO many of those) that I have seen from us in my 30+ years of being a fan of this team. IIRC at the beginning of that game Bellichek lined up with no D. Linemen, just LB's and DB's and had them wander about pre snap to screw up Bledsoe's read and the O Line's pass blocking assignments...I know how to attack that, YOU know how to attack that. If there was TV reception in Tibet then there were probably some folks somewhere huddled around a fuzzy TV set chuckling to each other in their native tongue: "Wow look at Bellichek's gimmick defense, Buffalo's gonna run the ball straight down their damn throats lol". But no, we kept trying to pass against it all game long and got shut out. I remember Bellichek making sure to score exactly 31 points just to rub it in. Can't find a link to that game, but who the heck wants to see that anyway lol. -
Change the replay...(No-goal vs. Homerun throwback)

Hey, that's how I see it...The refs at that particular game, Titans fans, you and many others disagree. A lot of people see it my way also. So be it, it's water under the bridge and far, far down the river anyway. I wasn't an "angry" fan after that game, I was an extremely disappointed but still expectant fan then (well....F-it, we'll get em next year). I gradually became an "angry" fan after more than a decade of mostly poor draft and coaching choices, inexplicable play calling and unfathomable late game collapses (see "coaching choices" above), that cost my team game after winnable game, season after season. I am once again expectant this summer due to the front office changes and apparent change of attitude around One Bills Drive. But then again that's how I am every summer lol. -

You are correct sir, the play has nothing to do with where any player's feet are, it has to do with the path the ball travels. Wycheck passes from just behind the 25 yd line, Dyson catches just in front of it. If the play did not take place right at the 25 yd line it would be far more difficult to see, but due to the fact that it does anyone can clearly see that the ball was thrown from behind the 25 and caught in front of it. Apologies though, I did watch it on mute (the visual upsets my stomach enough lol), I read the comments underneath where folks were saying that Theismann said it was a forward pass, if he did not, so be it. As I said earlier I am not pinning it on the refs, the blame is on the coach for the play call and special teams for not staying in their lanes. -

OMG Man, I can't believe how off my recollection of that play was, I watched it live but have tried to avoid looking at it since (for obvious reasons). I watched the link you posted and it's even worse than I remember. Wycheck throws the pass with both feet clearly just behind the 25 yard line, pass lands in Dyson's hands clearly ahead of the 25 yard line. Dyson's right foot at the moment he made the catch is exactly where the ball should have been to be properly ruled a legal catch (Just behind the 25 yd line). Dyson is ahead of where the ball is thrown from and does not lean forward as I said in my earlier post, he leans back to make the grab...But the catch is made ahead of the 25. 2:13-2:17 in your link show it best. BTW Joe Theismann thought it went forward too. The NFL line is that the refs ruled lateral on the field and there was not enough replay evidence to overturn the call. It's one of my worst Bills memories ever and you have made me relive it .....I'm not bitter though . -
Change the replay...(No-goal vs. Homerun throwback)
angryfan62 replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On the best replay of it that I have seen yes, the ball does clearly travel forward. However, the Tennessee player is behind the point on the field where the ball was thrown from and leans forward to make the catch, the ball is in his hands before he starts moving forward. I think that the refs gave them the call because of the position of the player rather than that of the ball. All that being said, if we had simply kicked the ball into the end zone we almost certainly wouldn't be talking about this. The "bad call" was made by Wade. -

Well yeah, if you put it that way lol. But then again we may not have had to rely on RJ's mighty arm as much as you think. The 1999 Bills were 2nd in overall defense, we had the #1 pass defense, and were 4th against the run. We had the #9 rushing offense versus St Louis at #5, but the difference was only 1.2 YPG. Playing against a team who's offensive strategy was then based on lightning quick strikes downfield, I still like our chances there as long as we didn't try to "outduel" anyone. Heck, we beat the team (bad call by ref notwithstanding) that just about took them to OT(except for one textbook tackle that all young players should still be shown). -
Mario Williams: Is a Pattern Forming?
angryfan62 replied to Lurker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMHO, Aaron Hernandez is presently in jail for murdering one, possibly 3 people. If he is found not guilty I suppose that I, Mario, and most folks on this board will owe him a big apology for all of our jokes and negative comments. Until then, I think that "Grand Theft New England" pic is pretty well done and funny as hell and I really don't care if it hurts his feelings. -
