  1. There really is something to the 5 year rule with coach & QB together. The below article is from mid-season 2017, so it's more than 5 years old. But the principle continues to hold. It also shows that alot of the close call combos, including Levy & Kelly, peaked in year 5. If you look just at how long it takes a coach to win their first SB with a team, it's a tough stat b/c coaches don't get much more than 5 years if they don't at least reach the SB. Chuck Noll (6 year), Tom Landry (12), John Madden (8) and Bill Cowher (14) And Reid (7) are the only coaches who took more than 5 years to win their first SB with a specific team. Some in different eras than today, but all coaches were consistent winners who just took time to break through. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/why-coaches-and-qbs-should-divorce-after-five-years-of-not-winning/ I am definitely not ready for Bills to move on from McD. But afer the way the playoffs ended the last 2 years, it's at least in my mind.
  2. Yes weird game. I can’t remember a game with so many plays that didn’t count. I feel there were about 5 plays that were run through all the way until player was tackled or incomplete pass. Then after, we learned the play didn’t count due to TO, delay of game, etc weird situations where the coaches were asking for clarification from refs and game clock kept running. Happed to Bills on Diggs 1-handed out of bounds, and happened to fish at the end of game where they thought it was 1st downs or expected a measurement. It was also strange that they didn’t bring out chains for Singletary’s clinching 1st down. Some long delays like the review of Knox drop in the end zone was 10 mins. I thought it was Obvious after 2 replays.. And then there was glitch with scoreboard clock
  3. Absolutely hate his defensive TOs. Not only today. It allows the Offense to reset, and results are usually bad for Bills. Ex The Chiefs do not complete the Kelce pass to set up GW FG last year, except for that amazingly stupid defensive TO. Today the Dolphins likely don’t score their last TD except for defensive TO and the last 1 where Miami missed on 4th down, cost more than 50 yards of field position after the punt. I’m a big fan of McD, and give him a ton of credit for Bills recent success. However. I think there are times in big games where he wants to assert some direct responsibility for the outcome. And the unnecessary TOs come back to bite him. Yes
  4. There’s unlimited call ups for an individual player. But I believe there’s a limit of 2 players called up per game for the playoffs. Let’s say Brandon Bryant gets called up this week with Settle & Phillips banged up. If you had to use a call up for Beasley too, then you’re stuck if you need another player.
  5. That would be a pretty terrible franchise QB. He threw 3 INTs in the 2nd half, and the Patriots only had 24 net yards of Offense in the 4th QTR with their season on the line.
  6. If the goal is equidistant, Indianapolis is the answer. Almost right between KC and Buffalo. let’s hope we really get to worry about the AFCG location. Why is Indy out?
  7. Yes BUF & CIN will have an equal number of games. But if you read the full release, I don’t think they will give home field to 1 team or the other if seeding could’ve changed based on Bills v Bengals outcome. Sounds like there will be an official decision tomorrow
  8. That’s not what the league is saying. From NFL.com “The AFC Championship Game will be played at a neutral site if the participating teams played an unequal number of games and both could have been the number one seed and hosted the game had all AFC clubs played a full 17-game regular season”
  9. If KC loses and BIlls & Bengal both win, then the outcome of Bills v Bengals would’ve decided #1 seed. Since game was canceled AFCG goes to neural site
  10. I thinks it will be Indianapolis. Could also be Bills v Bengals at neutral site
  11. Hardly a week off. From a football standpoint, they Lost 2 defensive starters and Allen got rolled up on by the Hendrickson dirty play. And of course that doesn’t even take into account, Hamlin’s critical condition
  12. Is it possible that the NFL waits until after the week 18 results, and then decides what to do with Bills v Bengals game? Probably not due to scheduling. But is possible that based on week 18 result the only issue up in the air could be 2 seed or 3 seed. Ex. if Chiefs win, Bengals win, Bills lose. Then Chiefs get #1 seed, and Bengals win AFC North regardless of Bills v Bengals result. If Bills win & they both lose then Bills have #1 seed. Although i think that leaves AFC North in doubt.
  13. For you guys who are saying the Bengals were on the way to blowout, It makes me wonder if you have paid any attention to the Bills first 15 games. Points allowed per quarter is a a good stat to illustrate why the game was far from decided with 50+ minutes to play. The Bills rank 26th in 1st QTR points allowed, but are 2nd to the 49ers in points allowed per game. Yes CInci came out fast and physical. But the Bills looked like the were going to have an effective ball control O and Josh Allen had his big game attitude and focus going. The Defense has shown the ability to adjust and get stops. They're not the #2 scoring defense by luck
  14. That’s mostly true. But earlier in the season they were beating mediocre teams like the Seahawks and Patriots who they lost to today. And our very own Bills lost to both the Fish and the Jets, before beating both the 2nd time around. Miami especially can’t win on the road. They had a front loaded home schedule to build up their 8 - 3 mark. 4 out of 5 losses won their current skid have been away.
  15. It's great because the Dolphins have had their own epic collapse, also losing 5 in a row to go from 8 - 3 to 8 - 8. I think the Dolphins collapse is even worse b/c there plenty of people saying they would overtake the Bills and win the division. Don't think any reasonable person was picking the Jets to win hte division. Funny thing is that 1 of them is going to win next week.
  16. I have no idea if he took steroids or not. But I have heard many NFL teammates and opponents talk about how impressive an athlete and football player. I think he was blessed with amazing natural ability and has been a special athlete for his size, even by NFL standards, and a super hard worker. His best years you can put against any d-lineman that ever played. I thinks he's the only player with more than 1 20-sack season.
  17. Watched the replay of Cincinnati & NE. #77 Adeniji played very well after Collins was hurt. Don’t think the Bengals will lose much w Adeniji playing. And BTW, Cincinnati dominated that game. A few fluke plays like tipped ball TD on 3rd & 29 and Jamar Chase fumble gave NE a chance late. Bengals are going to be a tough match up for the Bills.
  18. I've had work associates from Florida and Puerto Rico ask me about the storm and how people are doing in Buffalo. It's been major news
  19. It's a good comparison between Gase and Hackett. Both were OC's for all-time great QBs who were late in their careers. So Manning and Rodgers didn't need a strong hand at OC. Plus both Denver in those years and GB in Hackett's years had excellent Defenses to support the team.
  20. They have Miami's first rounder in 2023 from the Chubb trade. And Hackett was a big part of the problem. But still a good point, that it's a bad job due to Russ. Yep. Like Hackett, was such a disaster he didn't even last a full season.
  21. Because I starting drinking my lucky beer, Peroni, during halftime. Cracked it open just before 2nd half kick-off and the Bills went right down and scored. I was in Italy for the Bills - Titans game, and noticed everytime I opened a Peroni the Bills scored. It's worked pretty much all year. I was out late Friday night, so I didn't start drinking til halftime on Saturday. A couple of their low scoring games, I attended the game or was watching at a bar where they didnt serve Peroni. I'll try to plan accordingly for the playoffs.
  22. Elam made the defensive play of the game Saturday night. Miami was driving for go ahead score in 4th QTR, had gone 35 yards in 3 plays. W
  23. The problem on 3rd & long is new phenomenon. The McD & Frazier defenses typically have been among the best in the league on 3rd long. Last year they were 2nd best. https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2022/11/17/23463429/bills-defense-injuries-advanced-metrics-leslie-frazier-sean-mcdermott
  24. That’s funny. But he is a good coach
