Around the League Training Camp Thread
Reks Ryan replied to Buffalo Boy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Coming in to camp, I thought Lamp had a good chance to emerge as one of the top 3 guards with an outside chance to start. Ahead of Ford and Boettger. Similar to tackle, there are only 3 roster worthy players at guard, plus Bates. Now that Lamp is on IR it looks like the Bills have 8 lineman worthy of making an active 53 for an NFL team -

It's weird because going into camp, I felt like the Bills had good depth on the O-line. Now, Bobby Hart might be the 4th best tackle on the roster. So any injury to the top 3 is concerning. Although I would hope they play Bates ahead of Bobby Hart. They could be searching the waiver wire after all. Really it would be a shame for Bobby Hart to take a roster spot, considering some quality players that will be cut at other positions. Now with Lamp to IR, Guard depth doesn't look great either. -
1,354 miles. It's a long walk, so I won't make it in time for the season opener. But I'll be there in time to see Josh out duel Fitz and the WFT.

Training Camp practice 8/3: Pads come on

You can see Boettger and Feliciano on the field at the end of the highlight. Good sign that Ike is not quarantined and should be practicing soon -
Training Camp practice 8/3: Pads come on

Hollister seems like a direct replacement for Tyler Kroft. Capable but average NFL level TE. And will have trouble getting on the field due to injury. Kroft did have 2 game winning TDs. So if Hollister does the same it won’t be all bad. Sweeney or the UDFA from Bowling Green have a good chance to make the team. -

Call your shot: Who will the Bills pick in the 1st round?
Reks Ryan replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Eric Stokes CB UGA. Great speed, performed well against top SEC receivers, and overachiever compared to his 3 star status out of HS. Maybe a reach at 30, but seems like Bills kind of guy. would love him for Bills in round 2 Boy that brings bad memories. What a horrendous pick that was for so many reasons. Maybe even worse than trading up for McCargo. -

Yes. Cause it looks like a classic style. They didn't over do it. Sometimes with new looks, it seem like someone is trying to hard to be creative.

Some great names on that list. A couple receivers, Reggie Wayne and Torry Holt, who definitely should get in. Just need to wait their turn like Andre Reed and Art Monk did. I can't believe Lester Hayes is not in. Growing up, I remember him making so many big plays in big games. 13 Interceptions in 1 season is crazy. He was defensive POY that season in 1980. I was surprised to see that he only played 10 seasons and retired at 31. Felt like he played as an old veteran. 2 defenders on that list who I think are on the very good, but not great, list are Zach Thomas and Leroy Butler. I don't remember either of those guys as game changing dominant players. It would be great to see Tasker make it, but doesn't seem like he will. He's one that might've needed the Bills to win at least 2 of those 4 SB appearances to tip the HOF scale in his favor.

Bills players you disliked
Reks Ryan replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Definitely. First guy I thought of was Gilmore. Afraid to make a tackle, and would look around to blame another player when he got beat. But I forgot about J. Byrd. Totally quit on the Bills and seemed to exagérate an injury his last year. Have ro add Bryan Cox Jr. Because his dad’s such a tremendous a-hole. I see some people naming Magahee and M. Lynch. Those guys might’ve bad mouthed Buffalo, but at least they ran hard. -
Bills hosting LB Tyrell Adams on visit (update - Signed)

What happened to Del'Shawn? The coaches seemed to have high hopes for him when he made the opening day roster. I remember he got hurt early in the season and wasn't available to fill in when Edmunds and Milano got injured. I though he came back around mid-season and then he just disappeared. -
Some thoughts after watching recent highlights of Sanders. John Brown has better hands and is just as fast. Sanders seems like more ideal replacement for Beasley than Brown. Ran a lot of similar Beasley slot routes in NO. If Beasley gets hurt could fill in. Hope the price is right for the Bills. Do you think the Bills will offer Sanders jersey #17 to seal the deal?

PFF top 50 free agent signing predictions
Reks Ryan replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That list is unimaginative and full of not very well researched predictions. They basically have all the top free agents staying with their current teams, 17 out of top 19. And 5 top free agent WRs all signing 1 year franchise tag deals. None of that is realistic. -
the missing link - an Alvin Kamara-type player

The CBS sports RB ranking has Gainwell 5th and Patterson 6th of those declared for the draft. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospect-rankings/runningbacks/runningbacks -
Remember that you need to replace the guys you cut. Impact players are not cheap. In a salary cap league, value is important. But ultimately it's about getting the best players on the field. Last year the Bills decided Jordan Philips and Shaq Lawson were not worth $10 mil / year contracts and Star opted out. The replacements of Vernon Butler, Jefferson, and Addison probably offered better value. Understandable decisions by Beane & co, but in the end the D-line was a downgrade from 2019 to 2020. My point, is before you cut a starter / key contributor or let them walk in FA, you better have a plan to bring in a player as good or better. Not just a better value.
