Precious and few are the moments we two can share Quiet and blue, like the sky, I'm hung over you And if I can't find my way back home, it just wouldn't be fair 'Cause precious and few are the moments we two can share

Mephistopheles is not your name I know what you're up to just the same I will listen hard to your tuition You will see it come to its fruition I'll be wrapped around your finger I'll be wrapped around your finger

The writer stare with glassy eyes Defies the empty page His beard is white, his face is lined And streaked with tears of rage Thirty years ago, how the words would flow With passion and precision But now his mind is dark and dulled By sickness and indecision And he stares out the kitchen door Where the sun will rise no more

We see so many tribes -- overrun and undermined While their invaders dream of lands they've left behind Better people -- better food -- and better beer Why move around the world when Eden was so near? The bosses get talking so tough And if that wasn't evil enough We get the drunken and passionate pride Of the citizens along for the ride

Breathe, breathe in the air Don't be afraid to care Leave but don't leave me Look around, choose your own ground For long you live and high you fly And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry And all your touch and all you see Is all your life will ever be

Dark Tower is a great call...even with the "love it or hate it" ending. Other series that I enjoy(ed): - Song of Ice & Fire (aka Game of Thrones)...not holding my breath that George Martin will ever finish it, however - The Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child - The "Prey" series by John Sanford (the Lucas Davenport books)...also the Virgil Flowers series by same author. Two great crime/police procedural series

Anything you look back on fondly that hasn’t aged well?
DD4Bills replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall
I'm interpreting this as things that haven't aged well because you have changed, not because the thing has changed. So I'm staying away from the "she was hot 20-30 years ago but now is old and no longer hot" response. - Jean shorts - We've been going through old pictures putting together a slideshow for a family thing, and the jean shorts that I loved and apparently wore all the time are just...smh. My guess is I'll feel the same about cargo shorts in a few years. - Spaghettios / Beefaroni - Loved these as a kid...now they are inedible and smell like vomit - Rush song Fly By Night - Look, there is arguably no bigger Rush fan here than me. They have been "the soundtrack to my life" for well over 40 years. But for some reason, this one song, which I used to love, just sounds so dated and cringy to me now. - Knit ties - Really, what were we thinking? I hear these are coming back in style...god help us -
You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose Freewill

Out of touch With the weather and the wind direction With the sunrise And the phases of the moon Out of touch With life in the land of the loving With the living night And the darkness at high noon You can never break the chain There is never love without pain A gentle hand, a secret touch on the heart A gentle hand, a secret touch on the heart

When I drink soda, it's usually club soda/seltzer/soda water (whatever your part of the word calls it). When I venture away from that, it typically is a "clear" soda like Sprite. When I'm feeling really wild, I'll grab an orange Fanta.

Too many rapids Keep us sweeping along Too many captains Keep on steering us wrong It's hard to take the heat It's hard to lay blame To fight the fire While we're feeding the flames

Went to college in Vermont a long time ago and made regular trips across the border just to buy beer. Always liked when the boarder agent asked how long we would be in Canada and we answered "about 15 minutes."

Don't let the sun go down on me Although I search myself, it's always someone else I see I'd just allow a fragment of your life to wander free But losing everything is like the sun going down on me

Twenty, twenty, twenty-four hours to go I wanna be sedated Nothing to do, nowhere to go, oh I wanna be sedated Just, get me to the airport, put me on a plane Hurry, hurry, hurry, before I go insane I can't control my fingers, I can't control my brain Oh no oh-oh oh-oh

Notable Nexflix / Amazon / Premium Channel Series & Movies
DD4Bills replied to Heitz's topic in Off the Wall
Watched Mare of Easttown (HBO Max). Pretty compelling police procedural / f'd up family drama combo. 7 episode limited series, so not a huge time commitment. Also just wrapped the final season of Bosch (Amazon Prime). What a great series. Blasted through all 7 seasons over that last 2 months. -
We go out in the world and take our chances Fate is just the weight of circumstances That's the way that Lady Luck dances Roll the bones Roll the bones

In the pool? Not since I was 5. A lake or the ocean, however...all bets are off.

Cold fire (cold fire, cold fire) It's such a cold fire (cold fire, cold fire) It's a cold fire (cold fire, cold fire) It's a cold fire (cold fire) It was long after midnight When we got to unconditional love She said "sure my heart is boundless but don't push my limits too far" I said "if love is so transcendent, I don't understand these boundaries" She said "just don't disappoint me, you know how complex women are"

The fawn-eyed girl with sun-browned legs Dances on the edge of his dream And her voice rings in his ears Like the music of the spheres The boy lies in the grass, unmoving Staring at the sky His mother starts to call him As a hawk goes soaring by The boy pulls down his baseball cap And covers up his eyes

in honor of JA's big deal... I've got ninety thousand pounds in my pajamas. I've got forty thousand French francs in my fridge. I've got lots of lovely lire. Now the Deutschmark's getting dearer, And my dollar bills would buy the Brooklyn Bridge. There is nothing quite as wonderful as money. There is nothing quite as beautiful as cash. Some people say it's folly, But I'd rather have the lolly. With money you can make a splash.
