  1. Wife and I ended up getting dinner at the Weber Grill Saturday night- highly recommend this place if you are in downtown Indianapolis! I got a half-rack of ribs that were very good. My wife ordered the beef brisket and the Blackened Angus Meatloaf (with prime rib in it)- great recommendation by the server! Excellent entree.

Afterward, we walked through the Circle Centre Mall- some of Hochuli's crew were in there (not Ed himself). Then we walked over to Monument Square and took photos of the monument lit in Christmas lights. We also stopped in a Candy Store that had all kinds of old-fashioned candies and sodas- Root Beers, Srawberry sodas, etc. They even had a Buffalo Wing Sauce soda and a Bacon-flavored soda among the unique flavors.

  2. I got some pictures off the JumboTron (our seats were four rows from the top so no close-to-the-field pictures). I can upload them later; a fellow cheerleader on the team- who has beaten leukemia herself- shaved her head as well. After she shaved her head she continued to perform and when they showed her on the screen she got a standing ovation.

Also, early in the 4th during a timeout Jim Irsay brought out Chuck Pagano in front of the Owner's Suite and got a standing ovation as well.

Sorry if this news is redundant, I just got home from the game and deleted the game on the DVR.

  3. We'll be staying at the Hilton as well. About 30 minutes out and we will grab dinner in a while (not sure where). We need to hit Will Call for our tickets tomorrow morning; may grab some breakfast at Panera near our hotel.

  4. Wife and I are staying at Hilton downtown near Monument Square. The hotel is letting us park overnight and through the game for one flat price. We'll be walking close to five blocks to/from Lucas Oil Stadium on game day.

  5. If you see the replays of the fight between pit crews you'll see Gordon was being held back from the fight. No way Hendrick allows that multi-million dollar man to be in a brawl with guys bigger and stronger than him. Needless to say that was quite entertaining and sets some anticipation for the season-ending race on Sunday.

  6. My mother used to work at Capitol Records/EMI Manufacturing because one of their plants where they pressed the albums/CDs/made cassettes was in my hometown. We used to get free or deeply discounted releases by Bob Seger, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Rolling Stones (when they were on Virgin Records) and others. I don't recall the first album or cassette I bought but I do remember the first CDs:

First CD I received: "Night Moves" by Bob Seger (around '91)

First CD I bought: Led Zeppelin II

I remember getting my first CD player, a Sharp model that I had to plug in the RCA cables (red and yellow composites) to a boombox to play.

    2012 Cardinals!!!!!!!! Let's Go Birds!!!!!!

Indeed. Go Cardinals! 12 in '12!

MLB: Cardinals (I've seen them win and lose a few World Series in my 35 years)

NHL: St. Louis Blues (started following them in the Hull and Oates days once we moved into town and got cable TV!)

NFL: Bills (never liked the "Big Red" St. Louis Cardinals football or the Bears or the Colts; just jumped on the Bills bandwagon about the time Kelly's first year with the team.)

I really enjoy it when the Cardinals win the World Series. However, it pales in comparison to my passion for Buffalo Bills football. I would easily trade-in a Cardinals championship or two just for one Bills Super Bowl win. I honestly won't die a happy man until the Bills bring home the Lombardi Trophy at least one time.

  8. I'm a Cardinals fan but I won't prod the bear on the Infield Fly argument. I do think the trend of adding playoff games calls for an adjustment in the season. I would like to see each team scheduled to play a double-header once each month during the season. That would, in theory, save 6 days or so on the season and allow the regular season to wrap up in late September. Or, maybe they shorten the season up but that would affect these teams that make a late run at the Division or Wild Card.

  9. For those of us too young to see the band in concert during their heyday, this is as close as we get (for now): Led Zeppelin is showing their 2007 Ahmet Ertegun Tribute set in theaters worldwide next month- October 17th.

Link to the news release: http://www.ledzeppelin.com/news/2012/09/13/led-zeppelin-celebration-day

And a list of Cinemas that will carry this event (As I write this, the actual theaters aren't posted. You have to click on the links for each cinema group to try to find which theater): http://www.ledzeppelin.com/news/2012/09/13/celebration-day-cinema-listings

I found it will be playing in St. Louis, MO at the Plaza Frontenac Cinemas at 6:30pm and 9pm.

The band also mentions an official release of the set on multiple formats (CD/DVD/BluRay/etc?) the following month- November 19th.

  10. Alright, so I'll share my Sunday Ticket success story:

I've been a DTV subscriber since 2005; currently I'm bundled with AT&T for their Uverse internet service. I've always wanted Sunday Ticket but just couldn't commit to buying it until this year. I called yesterday to see what discount I could get. I used the magic words, saying "cancel..... cancel" at the voice prompts to reach a representative. The lady was nice but she didn't offer any discount so I told her I'd have to "discuss with my wife" if I would buy ST at full price.

Fast-forward to today, just a few minutes ago. Called again using the prompts and got a very nice lady who's a Cowboys fan. She pitched the idea of the Sunday Ticket Max with the features it has (30-minute game replays, Red Zone Channel, etc). I made sure she knew I'd be interested in Sunday Ticket or Sunday Ticket Max if the price was right. She offered ST Max to me for 4 payments of $36.99: A total of $147.96, which is half-price for the package. I jumped at that offer and now I'm all set to watch the Buffalo Bills this season from the comforts of my own TV. Very excited!
