  1. A couple years ago, Fez told me about how awesome an Amazon Prime membership was. Since that time, I've done most of my shopping in this manner and I have been in love with this service. Today, they notified us that those with Prime memberships will now have access to over 5000 movies and tv shows for free, to stream either on your PC or through a tv/bd player/etc that has this capability.

If you don't currently have a Prime membership, you may want to get one!

This is only for those who pay the $79/year subscription to Amazon Prime. It doesn't include those of us who get a free version of Amazon Prime: Link

  2. If I'm not mistaken the car can be pulled from display at the team's discretion. It's not as if the Wood Brothers are contractually obligated to keep the car in Daytona USA for one year. I'd think that NASCAR would not object if there was a request to pull the car out for use.

That said, there' a couple of points to add:

    1. The Wood Brothers have equipment support from Roush/Fenway Racing. So I'd guess they won't have an issue preparing another "plate track" car to compete at Talladega or Daytona.
    2. Trevor Bayne is not running a full season in the Cup Series; he's running for the Nationwide title. If the Wood Brothers don't have either Talladega race or the summer Daytona race then they won't have to worry about that car. However, I believe they usually enter the higher-profile races during the season and will enter the three remaining restrictor plate races.

I root for Tony Stewart but it was a nice surprise to see the Wood Brothers back in Victory Lane. I know some NASCAR history so I get what that win meant for them and their fans.

  3. He sent out texts telling family members to donate his brain to the study of NFL players brains. This sport is just brutal. Just on the '85 Bears, you have at least two dead already, a few who are totally crippled up, and McMahon suppoedly starting with dementia:

There are at least three players on the '85 Bears that are dead: Walter Payton, Todd Bell and Dave Duerson. Mike Richardson also had several run-ins with the law due to drugs, William Perry nearly died a few years ago, and Wilbur Marshall is in bad physical health as well. ESPN Chicago had a series of stories on the '85 Bears this year.

  4. As a matter of great timing, Daniel Tosh gave a 'Web Redemption" last week on Tosh.0 to the girl who forgot the lyrics in Portland before a TrailBlazers/Mavericks NBA Playoff game. (cannot link to it right now) As her redemption she sang the National Anthem at an Anaheim (Mighty) Ducks game. Daniel held up cue cards for the girl while she sang. I couldn't help but think of this bit after realizing Aguilera butchered the lyrics.

  5. 13-18 inches of snow with drifts up to four feet. I shoveled a path in my driveway for my car in case the city comes to plow our subdivision. While I was out shoveling I noticed a Jeep Patriot 4x4 stuck in the road about a block from my home. The guy was trying to get to work but made it only onto the street from his driveway. Eventually it took three guys about 20 minutes to get him down the street and out of our subdivision. I don't think I dare try it with my Nissan Sentra.
  6. National Weather Service Reports from my area show us around 10 inches of snow that is covering the bit of ice we received the last 24 hours; it is snowing at a rate of one inch per hour. We are expected to receive 12-18 inches before it's all over but we may outpace that. Our city has shut down operations as of 7pm CT and forbid anyone from driving on the roads unless authorized personnel. The road cleanup crews are being given a chance to rest before attempting to clear the roads tomorrow at 3am CT. I work at a hospital and they converted a conference room to a large sleeping area with your basic cots (kind of reminds me of the scene from Revenge of the Nerds, where the future- Tri-Lambs are staying in the high school gym) for employees who don't want to go home or want to arrive early for work and need rest.

On top of the snow falling is the issue of the power lines "galloping", where they sway in the wind due to the stress from heavy ice on them. The power has flickered here at home a few times and it would not surprise me if the power went out for an extended time.

I'm concerned along Lake Erie as this storm, coupled with Lake Effect, would pack a mighty wallop to Buffalo and surrounding cities.

    Stay safe out there!

  7. The ice has been falling (in the form of sleet, then freezing) for the last 90 minutes. We're expected to receive up to 12 inches of snow on top of the ice over the next day.

I'm calling it SNOWMAGEDDON: The Return.

  8. This article from ESPN kind of slipped through the cracks this morning. It seems like Parcells & Co. had a totally different mindset heading into Super Bowl Week- arriving ASAP from San Fran and getting to work immediately on-site. On the other hand, it appears to me that Levy and the coaching staff may have taken for granted being in the Super Bowl (getting in late Monday night, missing the mandatory news conference due to preparations). This possible lack of preparation, coupled with the relaxed attitude of some players partying, seems to have been harmful to the Bills. I wonder if the outcome would have been different if they would have come in ready to work and put aside much of the celebration until after the game was over.

Just curiosity on my part. I'm still proud of what the team accomplished during that era. Hard to believe it's been 20 years, though.

  9. Steve Johnson 2010 Vizio Top Value Performer winner

Always good to see the Bills get some props. He beat out some tough competition in Woodley, Lloyd, Hillis.

Let's hope he rides this momentum into next season!

    Go Bills!

Good to hear. Stevie says he is going to give away a gift or two since he won the vote. I think it was a Vizio TV or an autographed jersey... not sure.

  10. word is iphone will be out next month...then 90 days later the new iphone5 is set to come out...

The 16GB is $199 and the 32GB is offered at $299. I have New Every Two that we signed up for before 2009. That allows me to get up to $100 off a new phone. I could, in theory, get the $16GB iPhone4 for $99 next month. My wife is eligible for an upgrade but I don't know what kind of discount she will get. The other half of me sees/believes what Poojer says and might wait until the new phone comes out this summer.

    Decisions, decisions.

  11. I bought this Insignia 42" plasma at Best Buy last summer when it was $449 and Bing had 30% cash back. I have it in my bedroom and it is very nice. I've kept a simple setup with my DirecTv HD-DVR and an HDMI connection to the TV; audio comes only from the speakers (no home theater system) and the sound works well for our room.

Fezmid will occasionally post links to Slickdeals.net and that is my main source for finding good deals on many things, not just televisions. I would recommend using that web site as a resource if you're looking to upgrade your TV.

  12. iPhones are no more bandwidth hogs than Droids. Now if a wave of non-smartphone users get iPhones then maybe.

    PTR

And that may be the case, PTR. I would likely fall into that category of upgrading to a 'smartphone'/iPhone. I would think there would be a lot of Verizon subscribers that jump at the chance to upgrade to an iPhone.

jboyst62, I read up a little on the Droid Bionic and I think it looks good. If the wait isn't too long (before summer) and the upgrade price reasonable, I might hold out to get this phone when it's released.

  13. I am with Verizon and my phone is eligible for an upgrade in mid-February. I keep going back and forth between trying to get an iPhone and going after a Droid. I have the EnV Touch but only use it for calls, music and texting. It might be fun to have an iPhone and feel like I'm with the "In Crowd" but I don't think I need to have it.
