  1. Ah..didn't Walter pick that TE for Indi in the 2nd? Also, do not like Jonathon Martin in the first. He would be just a slight upgrade, maybe no upgrade, over Bell. Buffalo should be, at #10, looking for a player that would represent a significant positional upgrade.
  2. Isn't there a rule stating that one team cannot pursue an employee of another team unless they offer the employee a promotion? It has been reported that Buddy will retire after the draft and Whaley will be the GM. If true, Whaley is the de-facto GM of the Buffalo Bills and cannot be pilfered by Indi. (I think )
  3. Ahhhh.....What? Let me repeat myself. Ever hear of the blitz. Blitzing LB = rush LB IN ANY SCHEME. I know DE's in a 43 are expected to apply prssure to the QB. You TOTALLY missed the context of my post. Looking at the early half of the first round, there doesn't seem to be a draftable DE worthy of selection at that point. I know, I Know, Couples was a preseason favorite. Another Peppers some said. But he played DT last year, was moved to DE this recently concluded year and did not do well. NC asked him to move back to DT and he refused. He refused; not a good sign. So; trying to find a pass rushing threat, and knowing that the team needs help at the OLB positions, I suggested Zack Brown as a possible #10 pick; very strong, and very very fast suggesting he could be a fix to Buffalo's inability to RUSH the QB from the linebacker position. Does that help?
  4. Not saying that at all. Just saying that when slotting the draft and trying to fill needs, Brown may be the guy, better than any 43 DE available in the early part of the draft. Sorry about the reply button. I'm an old guy new to this posting stuff but passionate about my Bills.
  5. Hay TURBOSRRGOOD; check out Scout.com. Look for an article titled "Linebackers On Speed". It's a story about last spring training and conditioning drills at North Carolina and the buzz about Zack Brown. Seems he ran a 4.28 forty. Coaches checked their stop watches and thought, must be a mistake. They had Brown run the forty again. This time it was a 4.26. BTW, he benches 380. Still not interested?
  6. C'man man. Ever hear of the blitz? Some very good teams do it all the time sometimes using safeties. I agree, it would be great to get a rushing DE. But name one that is worthy of a top half of the first round pick. Some say Couples. But I've read that NC converted him from DT to DE this year and he did not do as well with the move. This is my vision. Williams and Darius at DT with Shep at MLB. Shep is a thumper. He and the tackles make us strong in the middle. Additionally, both Williams and Darious can rush the passer, something that would rattle Brady since he likes to step up into the pocket (another reason I think we're going 43). At OLB, we have Barnett and Zack Brown. That combo gives us strength in the middle and speed on the outside. Doesn't that intrigue you just a little bit?
  7. Buffalo tried to fit Maybin into a 34 scheme and he could not set the edge which OLBs in the 34 have to do. Additionally, when rushing, Maybin had to beat the size and strength of the OT which he, most often, could not do. In a 43, Maybin may have been good. But Maybin was a one trick pony speed rusher and likely would have been bad in coverage which a 43 and 34 OLB must be able to do. With the Jets 34, he's only in on obvious passing downs for a reason. Brown is a much more complete LB, able to cover, run defend, and rush. He's always around the football. And, again, we're talking 43 scheme here. With 43 DEs going head to head with the OT, the 43 rush linebacker need only to manuever around the big bodies to the QB. Most early draft boards have Brown going in the top half of Rd. 1 and being the first OLB off the board,(sorry Courtney Upshaw fans).
  8. The size and speed of OLBs are different regarding 43 vs. 34 schemes. In a 34 scheme, you want your OLBs to be bigger, 6'4", 250-260 lbs. Bigger here also means a little slower. OLBs in a 43 defense can be a little smaller but are generally faster. The knock on Von Miller, before the draft, was that at 235/240, he could not set the edge for the defense. But in Denver's 43, he does very well. This year, if Buffalo moves to the 43, Zack Brown, OLB from North Carolina becomes very very interesting as our possible first round pick. Brown is very instinctive. He is 6'2+", 230 lbs and runs an estimated 4.45 forty. Outside pass rusher baby. There he is.
  9. He caused it to snow here last night . Get real. Every GM makes mistakes. A large part of building a team is trying to get better players. Part of that is inserting players into a lineup to see how they perform. If they disappoint, you discard them and get new players. You do that until your team performs as you wish it to perform. Everyone considers Belicheat to be the greatest. What did he do this past off season? Signed Haynesworth and Ochoconco. Great moves, hey? Buddy has made some very good moves. Do you like the way CJ, Darious, Williams, Chandler and others are playing? I'm eager to see what he does this off season. I think he's make moves that will improve the team and I'm optimistic about next year.
  10. This is one dude that should definitely keep his helmit on all the time. Every time he removes his helmit makes me think he's a walking GEICO commercial (just a random thought) . Do Love his QB play though.
  11. No 1. He's a rookie. It's a known fact that most players improve with experience. Sheppard will get better at shedding blocks in my opinion; AND No. 2. A MLB in a 4-3 doesn't generally have as many blockers to shed due to the fact that there is one more large body occupying O-lineman in front of him.
  12. Explain why you think that Sheppard can't play MLB. He is big, fast, a hard hitter, and he is smart. He has the talent and he has learning ability. So why do you feel he can't play the position? So many times when reading posting on this wall, I read something that makes me feels this guy just throws something out there as if it were a fact without really knowing what he is talking about. Your post gives me that feeling. Defend your opinion if you can. I can't wait to read your explanation.
  13. I stopped listening when, hoping to hear sports talk, I tuned in and heard pantheon of chicken sh*t talk.
  14. Paraphrasing Col. Jessup. I think that's a great idea. This young man has talent. He's up for a contract. Let's put a clause in his new contract that hurts him financially if he gets penalized for a predetermined act. That should do it. Sullivan; you could learn from Jessup.
  15. Buffalo has too many players currently on it's roster that were not there for training camp. Many are recent street free agents. What that means is that the "new" players are not totally familiar with Buffalo's play book. Gailey can install a game plan and the new players can practice that plan in the week prior to the game and be initially successful early in the game. But when the opposing coach makes adjustments to shut down what Buffalo is doing, Gailey does not have the option to adjust or change to the the opposition's adjustments because of the unfamiliarity of the new players with all of the plays in the book. (Just a theory which may have some merit. )
  16. but ya gotta respect Brady. No I don't. He's a perpetual immature winner. Should tell you which team I dislike the most.
  17. he is the starting QB at USC and he is surrounded by 18-22 year hot girls. He can't afford to take notice of those girls lest his testosterone levels fall. Oh, wait, that's someone else's theory.
