Matt Araiza accused of rape, served with a lawsuit.

I trust my sources. -

Fair enough but cutting the other punter isn't "reserving judgement". It's deciding that Araiza is staying on the team. So by cutting Haack, Beane decided that he is either (1) fully confident that Araiza did nothing wrong or (2) he simply doesn't care that Araiza did what he's being accused of. -

It's not as if Araiza blew Haack away. It was close in camp. Haack is a seasoned vet, was immediately picked up after getting cut. I don't see how any guy off the street is as good or better than him. -

Regardless of what really happened - and I'm not getting into the muck one way or the other - one thing is certain: Beane completely f'd up by cutting Haack this week. Did he really think this would not come out? -
How many chances does McDermott have left?

Defense was a paper tiger and teams knew it (no Pro Bowlers). Benefited from facing a lot of bad offenses. Good offenses had no problem moving the ball on them. -

I would give him one more season. Take the year to evaluate every potential HC candidate under the sun and replace him if he can't at least reach the Super Bowl next year. With Allen, this team could get any head coach they want for the first time in franchise history. -

Fixed it for you. I'm half kidding. McDermott was the guy we needed to help build a solid foundation. But now we need a guy to take us over the top. Only being willing to consider replacing the head coach until after two losing seasons while having Superman at quarterback is having horribly low expectations/standards. So you think Bengals should've kept Marv Lewis? -

He's done an excellent job. From Monday through Saturday, he's very good. But to beat the Chiefs and win the Super Bowl, this team now needs a head coach that is great on Sunday. And that's not McDermott. He's shown us that in his five seasons. -

Wide Right is still #1 by a pretty wide margin. IMO this "13 Seconds" loss is 2nd. Which is still really saying something because there have been some crushers as we all know. -

You're still in drought mode. It's time to raise your expectations. -
We've been saying this for five years. Those are extremely important qualities when chasing a Super Bowl win...and he's not going to suddenly get better at them in year 6.

Like I said above, there are as many talented young coaches out there as ever who would love nothing more than to be a HC of a team with a quarterback like Allen. McDermott is a good manager Monday through Saturday but not a good gameday coach. That's what this team needs now. I'd give him 2022 to redeem himself and prove otherwise but that's it.

I'd have to see who's available after the 2022 season. There are many very talented young coaches out there, maybe the most there has ever been. With Allen, Buffalo could choose whoever they want.

Flukes can happen but aren't likely. Green Bay had won three Super Bowls before that. Bills have 0. We're not nearly that lucky. You're right. No one wants to be head coach for a team with a stud quarterback.

A Few Composed Thoughts After The Chiefs
Wayne Arnold replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hill stole the Bills defense's soul on that touchdown. No doubt in my mind. They were shell-shocked and never recovered. -
McDermott won't be fired, shouldn't be fired. He's done an excellent job building the program. However, being a championship-caliber bench coach is a separate skill set that it doesn't appear he has. So if he chokes in the playoffs again next year then he should be applauded for the very real contributions he's made for the organization and be replaced.

Yes. Was there a hidden message there? Just because someone is rich doesn't mean they're intelligent at everything...or anything aside from the one thing that allowed him to be rich. Pegula is intelligent at creatively destroying the environment in effective ways and lobbying politicians to allow him to do so while "earning" more money than any single human should be allowed to have. That doesn't mean he makes intelligent sports team decisions or intelligently runs a hospitality business or is automatically capable of making intelligent decisions with regard to a health crisis. And I'm still trying to figure out where/when Kim has demonstrated an intelligence.

If they can't start the season on time then they should reduce it to 12 games.
