John Wawrow Retweeted Lou Brown
McDermott is on more stable ground than Whaley and, to use a wrestling term, has leverage. It's on GM to play nice with new coach.
John Wawrow added,
Lou Brown @Lou_TireWorld@john_wawrow What if McDermott has final say over the 53? What could they hang on Whaley? He didn't have final say on the coach or players? -
McCoy appears to be out for Bills
That's been out there since last night. There are mixed reports. McCoy is interviewing with the Broncos today.
-
i'd say the odds of McDermott wanting Lynn are less than 50/50.
starting with, McDermott may not want to wait on Lynn while he interviews for HC jobs.
McDermott may want to bring in one of "his" guys that he knows and trusts better.
Then he's going to fail as a head coach.
-
I understand you people try to block out this **** that goes on in the world but it only makes you ignorant when we have to talk aboht it.
Block out stuff like your racism? No, we're aware that it exists, unfortunately.
-
That's a low, and insulting blow.
And not to mention 100% incorrect.
-
Terrible news for one of the greatest cities in the world.
-
Monos has shown an eye for talent throughout his career and it may be only a matter of time before he finds himself as a general manager elsewhere in the NFL.
Maybe he should be Buffalo's GM.
-
No way Lynn comes back as OC, unfortunately. He's after a HC job, and returning now to the Bills would feel like admitting failure. I think he did a very good job considering the injuries at WR, and I'd be happy if he did come back.
Lynn is under contract. So if he doesn't land a HC job and the Bills still want him he has no choice but to return.
-
I'm willing to get on board the McDermott train but if Taylor is not retained and a talented and/or experienced OC (either Lynn or Turner) is not hired then he's going to fail.
That's just reality.
-
"Tyrod Taylor is our quarterback and the entire offensive coaching staff will be retained including Anthony Lynn as offensive coordinator."
-
Yup.
The Bills, after finalizing Anthony Lynn as their head coach, will make a push for Gus Bradley as their defensive coordinator
La Canfora is truly the worst. I can't believe he has a job with a sports division of a real network. That's not a good look for them.
-
I'm praying this happens. Whaley is an embarrassment.
-
League will make it week 1 now.
No they won't.
-
Ah yes, stats in a vacuum.
Way to miss the point, dorkula.
-
no one chooses to be 31st in passing. you can make the most of what you have and end up there- but no one does that by choice.
21st in yards per attempt. Not great, but ahead of Newton, Eli, Flacco, Bortles, Wentz.
18th in passer rating (ahead of Rivers).
-
He's been a DC.....why do you think this?
Because he's a defensive head coach who looks like a meathead and has a dud personality like Jauron/Marrone.
Plus I'm a judgmental prick.
-
It was Jesus, and we sure as heck don't have him on our side.
I blame the tailgate butt chugger for this.
-
show mccoy the seattle game and see if he can make taylor do that every game or at least 5-6 times a year.
Show Whaley and the Pegulas each game from the 2016 season then ask them why they want to blow up the offense.
-
Just who ever is the Bills coach. Please for the love if god bring the Bills into Modern football and not 1980s and 1990 concepts and push it as innovative to me.
DJ did it with the Tampa 2 (even after teams started breaking it with these TEs)
Rex did it with the antiquated 4-6
Marrone did it with the Ground and Pound (yes was here)
Heck really the only one that was a bit innovative was Chan.
McDermott screams "punt on 4th and 1 in opponent territory" to me.
-
So McDermott's getting a second interview today.
These are they guys that also got interviews: Anthony Lynn, Cardinals OC Harold Goodwin and Kris Richard Seattle's DC.
Sounds like McDermott at HC, Butler (Texans) at DC, and McCoy (Chargers) at OC is nearly a done deal.
I have not seen one report saying that McCoy is nearly a "done deal."
All I've read is that McDermott wants to bring him aboard.
Newsflash: every team with a staff opening wants McCoy as their OC.
-
No one has confirmed McCoy to OC. Please change the title before you jinx it.
-
if Lynn doesn't want to stay as OC then how do you propose they keep that offense?
Lynn doesn't have a choice unless he lands a HC position. Same situation as Schwartz two years ago.
-
23rd in yards and 25th in points is not "functioning" or any kind of success.
That's with the #1 rushing attack, btw.
Have you seen Tebow throw a football?
-
why? Not a flashy rex hire so its wrong. Who cares about the press conference, i'd be happier knowing its not some gimmicky hire to sell tickets
Because winning the press conference is what really matters.
I'm just saying it will be a horrible press conference. My belief that it will be a failed hire is separate from that observation.
Like I said in another thread - I can get behind Dick Jauron Jr. as long as (a) Tyrod is retained, AND (b) Lynn OR McCoy is offensive coordinator.
Anything less will be doomed for failure.
Lynne may return as oc in buffalo under McDermott
