  1. I'm not going to pretend that racism doesn't exist because obviously it does. Like Chris Rock said, "America to black people is the uncle that paid for your college education...but molested you when you were growing up." To deny the mistreatment of minorities in the US is to be delusional. However, in this specific instance, I simply don't agree with Tyrod. I think he's making excuses for his poor play and thinking he's beyond criticism and the only reason he's hearing criticism must have something to do with factors that don't have to do with his play on the field. And I also don't appreciate your generalizations. Isn't judging individuals based on the perception of the race as a whole the backbone of racism and prejudice to begin with? If you're against racism, then why would you be making such statements as "white people are very much a race-conscious people." Can we stop with the sweeping statements?
  2. Roman's system was literally Taylor-made. Probably the only system in the NFL that could generate a sufficient offense with such a throw-challenged quarterback.
  3. Great comment to the BN article from Carl Wagner, specifically the final paragraph... There's a problem with being a couple plays away from 5-0.. Last year, they were 5 plays away from being 12-3 heading into the Jets game in week 17. Taylor couldn't make those 5 plays. In 2015, they were 3 plays away from being 10-5 heading into the Jets game in week 17. Taylor couldn't do it. It's the frustrating enigma of his era as Buffalo's QB. In his 34 starts, their biggest loss came by just 16 points. From 2007 to 2013, Buffalo lost 37 games by 10+ points, and 21 by 20+ points; averages of five 10+ point losses and three 20+ point losses per season. Compared to how bad they'd been, with quarterbacks that routinely gave them no chance to win, Tyrod's been a blessing. He's lost only four games by 10+. Recall 2011, when Fitzpatrick lost 7 straight games by an AVERAGE of 18 points.. But in 12 of his 16 losses, he had the ball in the 4th quarter trailing by 8 or fewer points and couldn't pull out a win. He is now 6-13 in games decided by 8 or fewer points. Every game where he gets the ball down by 8 or fewer points in the 4th quarter, I think, "here's his chance." I think he's sufficiently sick of losing and now he's going to make the plays winners make. But with all the missed chances to learn from, he hasn't gotten better at it. So I know what I'm getting with Tyrod. They'll either have a win mostly locked up going into the 4th, courtesy of the run game or defense, or he'll have a chance to win it in the 4th, courtesy of the run game or his defense. If it's the former, he'll always play smart enough to avoid an epic collapse or allow a comeback a la 28-3. But if it's the latter, they won't win. And thus, the enigma of Tyrod Taylor..
  4. This thread only exists because Tyrod is an African-American quarterback. You should all be ashamed.
  5. He has to attempt the throws. If the wide receivers aren't good enough to bring them down then it's on them. Eating the ball and taking sacks - that's on Tyrod.
  6. You throw to the receivers you have. They tried. He wanted out.
  7. McBeane aren't dumb enough to trade picks for a running back. I'd rather they either give Banyard an opportunity or sign one off the street.
  8. This new girl Kimberley Martin is something. Refers to Newton's inane statement about scaring people because "they haven't seen nothing they can compare me to" - as if the men who came before him like Warren Moon, Randall Cunningham, Doug Williams, Steve McNair, Donovan McNabb, Mike Vick, etc. never existed - as "truths".
  9. Let's be honest - Winston is a terrible quarterback.
  10. Bolt didn't actually win those races. That was just everyone's misguided and prejudiced perception because he's black.
  11. So you don't consider Tyrod to be exceptionally athletic but is instead just unfairly perceived that way because of his skin color?
  12. But Dennison has made adjustments and modified his system. Out of the 24 run plays on Sunday, they ran just four outside zone runs. That's a drastic change from the first two weeks of the season. Because these players suck at it. Everything else was a power-trap or counter-trey run. That's an adjustment. They have elminated the three-step drop which is a huge Shanahan/Kubiak/Dennison staple. Because Taylor sucks at it. Again, that's an adjustment. Players have to execute better.
  13. Admin - please move this thread to the other one. It was created while this one was being drafted.
  14. Interesting comments originally from a Buffalo News interview. "(Criticism) is always going to be twice as bad just because of who I am - an African-American quarterback. Look across the league, man. We're held to a certain standard. We almost have to be perfect." Taylor wonders why black quarterbacks are labeled as "mobile" while white quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers and Derek Carr are considered "pocket passers" despite often using their athleticism to extend drives. "Even though they're 'mobile' guys, they don't necessarily take on the same criticism as others. It probably is unfair." Thoughts? http://billswire.usatoday.com/2017/10/14/bills-tyrod-taylor-believes-hes-held-to-a-higher-standard-because-hes-african-american/
  15. Did you somehow expect the new offensive coordinator to run someone else's system? I don't follow your logic here.
  16. When the offense needs an air attack to lessen defensive pressure off of the running game Tyrod cannot elevate his game to accomplish that.
  17. The Ravens finished 2016 ranked 24th in DVOA Offensive Efficiency, 21st in rushing. The Ravens are currently ranked 24th in DVOA, 17th in rushing So from 21st in rushing to 17th. We're supposed to cry about Roman for that. For the record, I appreciated Roman's scheme. Thought Lynn did a good job filling in. But we saw that offense at its peak, it was going nowhere but down even if someone Roman or Lynn was able to be retained.
  18. Shaq might be the only good draft pick Whaley ever made. And Rex probably begged him to do it. Otherwise he probably would've picked Laquon Treadwell or Christian Hackenberg or something.
  19. Tyrod looked like a rookie last Sunday. I have no reason not to trust your info. However, I still expect to see Peterman starting on 12/10 vs. the Colts at the latest. I can't imagine a first-round QB, Peterman and Taylor all being on the roster in 2018.
  20. But then we wouldn't be treated to such awesome takes like Walter Powell being released is evidence of a tank.
