It has nothing to do with their names. Big Ben is 3rd in the NFL in sack percentage vs. Taylor's 32nd (Ryan is 11th). Sacks kill drives and no one holds the ball longer than Taylor.
Both BR and Ryan are in the Top 7 in Net Yards Gained per Pass Attempt while Taylor is 25th.
Both have better Adjusted Net Yards per Pass Attempt than Taylor. And both blow Taylor away in simple Passing Yards per Game.
And current DYAR:
4. Ben Roethlisberger
10. Matt Ryan
18. Tyrod Taylor
Split these next four games (Saints, @Chargers, @Chiefs, Patriots).
Win three of the final four games (Colts, Dolphins, @Patriots, @Dolphins).
You're dancing at 10-6.
Anything less, and your playoff streak is off to college. They grow up so fast!
This is ridiculous. Lawson isn't nearly big/heavy enough for be a full-time 3-4 DE. He's a perfect fit where he is. Just because he isn't a dominating pass-rusher 8 starts into his career doesn't mean he's a poor fit.
Taylor is somewhere between the 15th to 20th best QB in the NFL.
A solid stop-gap.
Someday we'll land our Deshaun Watson or Dak Prescott. Until then, Taylor is okay.
He's not a bust because he's been contributing. But I have been disappointed so far this season. But he hasn't been terrible, just meh. He still has some plays left in him this season, I'm sure.
If he's the scapegoat you've chosen, so be it. He was fine the last two games prior to last night, where he was just one of many players who played equally poorly.
1. Trench Battles - Both the OLine and DLine were beat up and had their lunch money taken away
2. Turnovers
3. Poor coaching adjustments - both offense and defense
4. Poor tackling on defense
5. Tyrod Taylor's fatal flaws (needs too much time to find receivers, won't take chances/throw the receiver open, refuses to throw the ball away)
6. Shady's injury / no quality backup (Tubby Tolbert stinks)
Tough to blame Tyrod for the loss. The trenches were so dominated that even Brady and Rodgers would have lost.
This game doesn't change anything. Tyrod is a stop-gap, the team needs a franchise QB and Peterman will start the last four games of the 2017 season.
It's crazy how many people think the quarterback has nothing to do with sacks. It's on the QB to get the ball out before he goes down. Taylor is as bad as anyone at avoiding sacks.
This is 2011 all over again.
So many this week said "This team is different!" No, it's not. Just like the 2011, 2017 Buffalo is a rag-tag bunch of lovable losers led by a flawed journeyman quarterback who fluked their way to a 5-2 start thanks to turnovers.
"But this team can sustain the turnover differential!" Shut the hell up.
Just like 2011, this 2017 Bills team will finish 6-10.
This team is 2011 reincarnated. A rag-tag bunch who got off to a 5-2 start thanks to fluke turnovers. Then crashed back down to Earth in Billsy fashion.
