Brian Daboll helped Josh McDaniels get a job with the Patriots back in 2001. They were friends after working together under Nick Saban as graduate assistants at Michigan State in 1999. Daboll was hired by the Patriots as a defensive assistant in 2000 while McDaniels was a salesman in Ohio. The next year Daboll recommended McDaniels to the Patriots, who started out as a personnel assistant in the front office before taking Daboll's place as defensive assistant after Daboll was promoted to wide receivers coach. A few years later, McDaniels took over as the offense's playcaller ahead of Daboll and Daboll left for the hated Jets (under Mangini).
Marrone was fine with EJ being the starting QB until EJ regressed throughout the 2014 offseason and was terrible in the preseason. I'm a huge Whaley critic, but Whaley was the one who acquired Orton. Then he acquired Taylor and Cassel the next offseason.
Because he's a massive prick who preached "family" and "don't let anyone give you **** for being a Bill" and "don't confuse effort with results" and then bailed because he wasn't praised enough for a playoff-less 8-7 season. The same thing he did to Syracuse. F him.
So tired of hearing what a great coach Marrone is. Jaguars' roster is loaded thanks to David Caldwell and the additions they made last offseason (Campbell, Bouye).
Marrone was in the right place at the right time. Kudos to him for not being historically terrible.
Hell, I wouldn't doubt that Coughlin designs the game plans.
the losing team of the previous year's Super Bowl will not make it back to the big game.
Not since the 1993 Buffalo Bills has an NFL team managed to get back. And as we know, they accomplished that feat three times in a row.
Once again, time has proven to be very kind to the AFC dynasty of the 1990's.
On defense alone: Kyle Williams, Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer, Tre White, Cedric Thornton, Milano, Leonard Johnson, Ryan Davis.
Take away those eight players, and what kind of defense do we have?
In order of priority...
1. Kirk Cousins at quarterback
2. A new offensive coordinator (Bevell, Shula, or Chudzinski would suffice)
3. Upgrade at starting defensive end opposite Hughes
4. Upgrade at starting DT opposite KWill (or if KWill decides to retire, two of them)
5. Upgrade at starting outside linebacker positions
6. Upgrade at starting WR opposite Kelvin Benjamin
7. Upgrades at the starting RT and RG positions
8. Upgrade at MLB
9. Talented, young backup running backs
10. Better depth
Beane has his work cut out for him this offseason.
The guy back-loaded contracts galore and the bottom was going to eventually fall out. "Torn down" aka forced hand to make difficult yet necessary managerial decisions for the good of the future of the franchise.
The key to winning 9 games in the 2017 season was the secondary led by Hyde, Poyer and Tre White - none of which were acquired by Whaley.
Leave the title changes for real news. Not the opinions of a single person. "Will reportedly receive" means Ian Rapaport or Adam Schefter tweeted it. Not some random dude who stated an opinion. Be better.
