  1. So let me get this straight. The community organizer somehow works as an "enforcer" for the CRA and forces banks to make risky bets on the sub-prime market with his "love juice"? And you think I'm the one that's delusional?
  2. Given the general lack of thought that goes into most of your posts I could deduce that being able to pour yourself a cup of coffee is one hell of an achievement for you. So you spent a page-and-a-half frothing over a typo. Very mature. You're assuming I think liberal is something I should be ashamed of.
  3. I'm not quite sure why you need to hijack this thread into pissing contest on who has the better grasp on the english langage. For somon hu seams to be such a champion of reading comprehenshun I find it disterbing that you didnt evn notis i am not an aspirering sike student. I make no claim to have anything other than a rudimentary grasp on the english langwaj. I don't no what dikshunary you r using but here is what I found in two diferant ones. at·tain   /əˈteɪn/ Show Spelled[uh-teyn] Show IPA verb (used with object) 1. to reach, achieve, or accomplish; gain; obtain: to attain one's goals. 2. to come to or arrive at, especially after some labor or tedium; reach: to attain the age of 96; to attain the mountain peak. ob·tain   /əbˈteɪn/ Show Spelled[uhb-teyn] Show IPA verb (used with object) 1. to come into possession of; get, acquire, or procure, as through an effort or by a request: to obtain permission; to obtain a better income. 2. Obsolete . to attain or reach. Here is one from Webster's Definition of ATTAIN transitive verb 1: to reach as an end : gain, achieve <attain a goal> 2: to come into possession of : obtain <he attained preferment over his fellows> 3: to come to as the end of a progression or course of movement <they attained the top of the hill> <attain a ripe old age> Definition of OBTAIN transitive verb 1: to gain or attain usually by planned action or effort. Here are the sinanims listid for them: Related to OBTAIN Synonyms: acquire, attain, bag, bring in, capture, carry, come by, draw, gain, garner, get, knock down, land, make, earn, procure, pull down, realize, reap, secure, win Related to Attain Synonyms: acquire, bag, bring in, capture, carry, come by, draw, gain, garner, get, knock down, land, make, obtain, procure, pull down, realize, reap, secure, win I even threw some mis-spelled words in there to make you feal beder. My spelling is not the best, and I make as many typos as any other poster. This is a message board, not a sientiphik paper. However, when someone thinks the word procure means create I beleve it may need some cleering up. You also mite want to hold off on attaining that other cup of cofy,(especially if it's what's causing you to post this incessant drivel) since by the deffanishuns that you posted posted, you would be obtaining another cup of cofy. Not to menshon that I did copy and paste the link from wikapedia. Are you feeling OK? I'll let you guys get back to the circle jerk now.
  4. I normally don't like to post blogs to start a topic. Though this is my fist OP on these boards. But this one caught my eye and I thought it would be a good topic for us to discuss. As far as I am concernd, more power to them. The more variety we have in food selection the better. The idea of Monsanto having a monopoly on what we are allowed to eat is a little disturbing. Wouldn't you agree? http://www.growswitch.com/blog/2011/07/270000-organic-farmers-sue-monsanto/
  5. In other words, the press doesn't just lean to the left. There is left media bias and there is right media bias. To think that the press only leans left is a delusion.
  6. What does the community organizer have to do with banks issuing credit to people who deserve it but are lumped into a larger group of those who don't. I think if you found yourself in this situation you might want something like the CRM.
  7. The CRA was enacted to protect consumers in certain geographic areas that were being lumped together and denied access to credit, including business loans, based on their neighborhood, not their own credit. CRA does not require quotas to be met nor forces banks and thrifts to make high-risk loans. In fact, CRA wording specifically cautions against it. This did not force the banks to lend money to the sub prime market. They did this on their own.
  8. I believe it's an activity you engage in for diversion or amusement.
  9. I think I ended the post with Just my humble opinion. Is that the only part you could understand?
  10. The current fiscal year ends September 30th 2012. The end of civilization as we know takes place on either Dec. 21st or 22nd 2012. You might be thinking of the calender year. I'm married with 3 daughters, have a great job that pays well and good benefits, and I own my own home. To top things off I have a hot wife. Life's been good to me so far.
  11. No I'm not OK with that. My point with that was that we could spend some time figuring out who the dead people are, and spend some the money allocated to them investigating and prosecuting the people collecting it. Do you have a problem with that? Second. If counting trees has an applicable purpose, such as prevention of fire load buildup, then yes I'm fine with spending tax money to count trees.
  12. I don't think there is so much as a liberal media bias so much as just news bias in general. Most newspaper organizations have been bought over by other corporations thought the last 20 or so years and will display bias toward the agenda of the parent corporation. The agenda is usually getting people to watch, listen, or read so they can sell advertising and make money. So mainly they are picking a demographic, telling them what they want to hear. The reporting also tends to display the bias of the person writing the story. If the majority of the AP tends to have liberal tendencies so will the stories they produce. Just MHO
  13. I'm sure there is an allocated amount of money this year that will end up being payed out to dead people. I have no problem with allocating money to causes that will increase the public welfare. Whether that be designing games or counting trees. You can't tell me it's about lining the pockets of someone who wants to count trees without knowing all the information on the project.
  14. So are you saying the retirees who spent 40+ years paying into the system are like parasites holding their hands out to the government for a check every month? Would you rather people be forced to work up until the day they die? I would much rather spend a few of my sunset years enjoying some rest and peace of mind before I die. Obama is far from the less qualified person to represent a party for the office. He's not the best. Not to mention I didn't state it as a positive. I just stated a fact. He wouldn't have had a chance at the office if 30 years of poor financial policy and deregulation of the marketplace hadn't crashed the economy.
  15. This is really your answer to Larry's post? It doesn't even address his point. Class warfare is nothing but a made up phrase for the blowback from the middle class. You'll see this in most societies when the divide between the rich and poor start to reach the tipping point. The woman in the above video is an idiot and I'm sure she got a rude awakening. Exactly what percentage of the population is living off the rest of us? I think you greatly overestimate it. Obama was voted in by both a popular and electoral majority. Most of whom are producers that are slowly losing their ability to produce in an economy where the deck has been stacked against them. Ineptocrasy is also a made up word. Much like atain.
  16. While I agree that some of these are a waste of taxpayer money and I give Sen. Coburn props for bringing it up you have to track each of those examples back on an individual level to get a better perspective of whether or not it's waste. For instance, studying the ways in which games are helping people learn, play, and connect with each other may be a good investment for designing games that help us problem solve. What is the reason for the tree census? What are they planning to use the information for? As far as 120 million being payed out to dead people, perhaps they should take just a small portion of that money and use it to fund an investigation into who's getting rich off the taxpayer dime.
  17. But if they have such a problem with the markup for point of sale perhaps they should shine a light on the fact that it's extreme. If Jordan and Nike want to look like d-bags for the markup that's their thing. Nike can charge whatever they want for them. You don't have to buy them if you don't want to.
  18. Your book definition of socialism is narrow and extremely to the far left of the spectrum. The full definition and spectrum of it is too broad to pin down in just a few words. It can vary from collecting taxes from citizens and turning them back to the citizens in the form of a service to communal ownership of property or a service. Examples of this could be your local police department or a public park. Even in the farther left spectrum it still leaves room for the free market where wealth tends to end up in the hands of people who work hard and take risk. Take a vacation to some of the more socialistic nations in western Europe and you'll still see a wide range wealth distribution. Once you get into communal ownership of everything including the means of production is when you start to make the move into communism. Communism also denies the market and seeks to forcibly suppress emergent systems tied to supply and demand. That's why it doesn't work. The market just is. It's like the laws of physics. Denying it is a revolt against reality. Communism can be considered a type of socialism thus why you might find that definition in a book. However they really are not the same thing.
  19. Wow, looks like you guys have had quite the circle jerk in here in the last 18 hours. I almost hate to have to post in here and break it up. My degree is in sociology. There is quite a bit of psychology in sociology though I don't think you need a degree in psychology to know what's going on here. I am currently working on my masters in sociology. 1. a projecting or protruding part. 2. the state or fact of jutting out or protruding. 3. a causing to jut or protrude. 4. the act, process, or result of projecting. This is from a dictionary. I was speaking of psychological projection. Not to mention you can use the root word in the definition of one of it's sub-categories. I thought that placing the word project in quotation marks might tip you off to this fact. See my above post. If you had bothered to attain a dictionary yourself and look up the word projection before you posted this you wouldn't look like such an ass. I do have a steady job by the way. considering you guys seem to be able to post all hours of the day I could deduce that you may not. You can also read a little more about psychological projection here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_projection Now is there any other information you need spoon-fed to you?
  20. I'm not quite sure where you're getting angry. There could be some projection going on here. (that's where you "project" your own feelings onto another person to help you deal with them. Anger is usually the most common, guilt is a close second) Or perhaps you are under the impression that pressing the "stupid" button works. (pressing a button is where you do something to try to manipulate the feelings or behavior of another person for your own amusement or to feel powerful.) An example of this might be when my 4 year old pokes my 2 year old in the back seat of the car for no other purpose than to piss her off. My 9 year old seems to have outgrown this phase of her development. You may want to try some therapy to see what caused you to get hung up here.
