Where do you get the idea that thinking Holder should get involved with the case because it seems like a cold blooded killer is going to get away with it is a lynching? Holder getting involved with a case is an investigation, not a lynching. I don't think the word seems would be used by a person planning to lynch someone. Can you give me a list of lynching that started with the DoJ doing an investigation?

There is no reason why he shouldn't be, at least, investigated for this. This is an obvious attempt to cause harm to another if even just by proxy. Not to mention this is entirely driven by race. Therefore if something does happen to Zimmerman as a result of this, the head of the New Black Panthers that put the bounty on his head should be charged with a hate crime.

This is why I thought it was important for the DoJ to start an investigation into the incident if only to let the black community feel like they were being heard. I don't like the undertones that come in that statement but when you have any group of people who feel they are not being heard you have a potential for riots. But this applies to all groups, not just blacks. But, as far as Beck claiming that Obama is going to start riots with "class warfare"... he's full of ****.

I agree with you on point 1 and I even admit to being drawn in by point 2. But I don't agree with you that this is the most important issue in the case as I see it. I'm more interested in the issue of "stand your ground" laws and how they relate to this case. Though it was the racial issue that brought this to the forefront there are now more issues that have to be dealt with. Is the fact that Zimmerman followed Martin pertinent to the case? And I'm not saying that he followed him due to his race. I'm just asking that if the fact that Zimmerman tailing him is enough to turn the case around and say that it was Martin that was standing his ground? Especially if it was Zimmerman who started the confrontation. This is what hits hard for me since we have a "stand your ground" law in Arizona. If someone were to go start a fight and then feel they were in danger of being killed in the fight that followed they could kill the person and claim self defense. But since they started the altercation are they really "standing their ground"? I'm not against a law that allows you to stand your ground and not retreat but the wording of it has to be such that something like this is still criminal. Something we can agree on

Regardless of the fact that this would not have blown up if not for the racial issue, the fact is, it has become a national story and has shown a spotlight on the whole issue of "stand your ground" laws that have to be addressed. We have a similar law in AZ and the way it is written, a person can start a fight, and if the person he started a fight with tried to fight back, kill them, claim self defense, and then the state has to prove that it wasn't.

Once able to get past the initial over reaction to the case it appears that race was not so much a problem in the incident so much as stupidity. In the end I can't get past the fact that he followed Martin, and if the girlfriend is telling the truth, was not just walking back to his car when the scuffle started. Other things that have to be looked at in before making another rush to judgment in looking at this video is that Zimmerman had received medical treatment before being brought to the police station. His nose was probably cleaned up as well as the back of his head. The question of race now comes in in the form of whether or not Zimmerman would have followed Martin if he wasn't black. Also the idea that the hoodie should bring attention to him doesn't really make a case either. It was cold and rainy and anyone would be trying to keep warm. Should we consider Bill Bilichich (sp) suspicious when he's on the sideline in his hoodie? In the end, Zimmerman did not purposely kill Martin only because he was black and cannot be charged with a hate crime. But if he was acting in a manner that was suspicious to Martin, such as following him, doesn't Martin have a right to stand his ground. This whole case has turned into a giant cluster!@#$.

The science that would explain man made global warming would have to do with the fact that CFCs as well as excessive CO2 output into the atmosphere from man made sources are to blame for the recent rise in global temperatures over the past 100 years or so. Though there is science to support this it is not a proven fact and there are other theories to explain why the earth's temperature is rising.

Where are they taking away due process by having a hearing on the case. They aren't going to decide the fate of Zimmerman at the hearing are they? Do you really feel like this is any different then any other politician in history? They all do this any chance they can get.

I think you would have a hard time proving that he is criminally liable in a court or law since there is no way to know for sure what happened. But I think this is a good indictment of the "Stand your ground" law as it is currently written. It needs to at least be tweaked. Civilly? That's a hard one to decide.
