  1. I thought this might be fun for the board. What should be the tag line for the new Karl Marx Mastercard that was just released by a bank in Germany? http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2012/06/15/155106232/the-karl-marx-mastercard-is-here-it-needs-a-tagline
  2. And this is news... Why? You say that as though it's a bad thing.
  3. I used to work for DES and I can say that I was, for the most part, well compensated and can't see any reason why we would need a public sector union. I've done better now working in the private sector but, for the most part, that's not usually the case. That being said, I can take your statement further and say public sector employees are not only better paid than their private sector counterparts but when they unionize they can force the private sector (that is not as well compensated) to have to pony up more tax money when they want a pay raise. I see no reason why anyone working for the government would need to be part of a union. It would be one thing if they were all working in highly dangerous environments for little pay and no benefits but that just plain isn't the case.
  4. That's not going to overcome a 7 point lead.
  5. No way the Dem's win the recall there. There shouldn't even be a recall. I don't agree with Walker's policies. But the fact of the matter is that Walker was democratically elected and did exactly what he said he was gonna do. You don't like it? Too bad. Do more research next time before you pull the lever. If I were a resident of Wis. I would be going to vote today... For Walker. Not because I agree with him, but because we don't recall based on stupidity of voters.
  6. Because in the end it all comes down to a choice between a giant douche and a turd sandwich. Look at the alternative here in Obama. He's as snooty as hell. In the end though, who did the GOP put up that was better than Romney? He's really the only one with any electability. I would have been all about Huntsman but he didn't even see the light of day. Now I feel like I'm going to have to hold my nose and pull the lever for Obama.
  7. Oxymoron much? The Constitution is pretty straight forward about freedom of speech and association. The First Amendment applies to all Americans. That includes people who may not have the same political views and beliefs as you.
  8. Wigged out? I didn't "wig out". I voiced my disagreement with your method of hiring. But if you let a potential moneymaker slip away, your loss. Though I find it funny you would accuse me of jumping to early wrong conclusions when you quite clearly jump to conclusions yourself. Yes there are some families that made these social programs a way of life but not nearly as many as you think. I find it funny how much you guys play up the families that do when in the end it's not as big of a problem as you think. And those that do use it as a way of life usually can't see a way out. The best way to treat this problem is through education.
  9. Well, for one, it started by giving context... Though I still don't agree. As fore your other question. My point is the hypocrisy of complaining that people who are leaning on DES when they're unemployed, or get help paying for tuition are leaches when you got both of them yourself. Get it?
  10. Next time you want to insult a persons spelling and grammar you might want to, at least, get the right word for a concept. I don't feel the need to take the time to proofread every thing I post. I think Phonics is the word you were looking for. Not to mention you would want to capitalize "hooked on" since it is referring to a title. I would stop correcting people's spelling and grammar and start working on your own. I love how in the first paragraph you tell us that getting unemployment and help for tuition is fine. In the next anyone else who does it is a leach. Well then why don't you enlighten us.
  11. Oh dear god... I was discussing the impact of an earthquake on bedrock. I don't know where you get the idea hydraulic pressure was in there anywhere. So lets just agree to disagree on this. I seismologist would study the earthquake. A geologist would study the bedrock.
  12. I don't know you get you logic. I said he gave a much more reasonalble response. That's not the same as "Oh, never mind". Then again this is coming from the same person who says they made it on their own with little help. While in the same post tells us that their dad payed half their tuition and they leaned on DES when they were unemployed for a while.
  13. The swishing sound you heard while reading this was the point going strait over your head. We all seem to agree the Bush and Cheney are bad. Not really an issue. However, when the person wishing to gain the office of President starts spouting the same garbage the Bush and Cheney did during their 8 year rundown of the nation, then declaring one of the two a man of great wisdom we might want to think about that for a while. While I don't think Romney would be a bad president, things like this give me pause when it comes time to pull the lever in November.
  14. More along the lines of I'm proving that you're not very smart.
  15. No, I was discussing seismology. Though there are some blurred lines between that and geology sometimes. Are you really so stupid as to read "if everyone in the financial markets make decisions on hiring the same way you do no wonder we're in such a crisis" and get "we're in a crisis because you didn't hire a person with a tattoo on their neck"? Maybe you shouldn't answer that. One is me saying you make snap, knee jerk decisions based on appearance. The other is complete nonsense. Though I'm sure it makes sense in your brain. What investment firm are you hiring for anyway? So then I guess most people in the financial world do make hiring decisions the same way Chef does. That explains a lot.
  16. Really? did the parachute in and shoot up a school like in Red Dawn?
  17. 1) If those in the financial markets all make decisions on hiring the same way you do no wonder we're in such a crises. 2) That's because you are unable to make a point yourself.
  18. That would depend on his record and ability to advise. If he had a good record and I felt that he advised well, then yes, I would had a check to a guy with a tattoo on his neck. If that is the only reason that a potential investor refused to hand him a check they're just as stupid as you are. As for my point with Tom about geology and seismology... I don't think you really know where you're going with it.
  19. I think a person who would not hire an employee based on the fact they have a tattoo on their neck rather than on their record and ability to advise isn't very smart. Now, if you can refute my point and add some substance to the conversation please do.
  20. Earthquakes would fall under seismology dipshit. Lets add that to the list of things you think you know about, but actually know little to nothing about.
  21. I have a frind with a BMW that she bought when she was in college with over 100,000 miles on it. She's taken good care of it and she still drives it. It has over 400,000 miles on it. Even I was telling her she was wasting her money buying a car with that many miles on it. But She proved me wrong. I'm on my second car since then and it's about time for me to have to buy a new. So when you think about it. A car that might cost 35,000-40,000 up front might be cheaper in the long run since you don't have to replace it as often. Just a thought.
  22. FIre that teacher. Really, I'm not kdding. Someone who is that stupid has no busness teaching.
  23. If one of those earthquakes cracks the bedrock enough to contaminate the groundwater with fracking water it's going to be contaminated for a thousand years. That's what matters. As for the rest of your post: As for the rest of the posts in the thread: No one is arguing that putting people to work in ND is a bad thing. The question is how far in risking the collective health of the workers and citizens of the states is too far? Does the town of Minot have the resources and infrastructure for a massive influx of people? If they do, then great. If not, they are adding to the problem. And yes, a company that is drilling and fracking has a responsibility to let the public know what, if any, risks are involved.
  24. I've said all I need to say multiple times in that thread. What more is there to say about it? And why are you bringing it up here in this thread? This usually is your response when you don't have an argument as far as I can tell. Rush hasn't told him that yet so he doesn't know.
