  1. Sorry "For What It's worth". and yea, I'd agree with you. He'd be a rush specialist to begin his career.
  2. FWIW he played that game at 230. In passing situations he did a good job of getting pressure though. That game really shows how freakin good Sanchez and why the Lions were so dumb to give 41M to a QB who never excelled at the college level
  3. I've always wondered why defenses in the NFL don't go often to a weakside/strong side system? I think if Maybin is allowed to play the weak-side, he'd be effective enough in helping to stop the run, because he'd only have to deal with the tackle, rather than the tackle and TE. He'd be worse than useless right now playing the strong side because he'd just get swallowed up and not put up enough of a fight to actually take up two blockers - you'd end up with a TE or T free to attack a backer.
  4. I'm a PSU Alum/Season Ticket holder and closely follow the program, so I have a bit of perspective on why he didn't start before. Maybin is a weak-side Defensive End in the Penn State system, and going into the season we had Maurice Evans playing that position. Evans was projected by most as a top 15 pick. But around a week before the season started he got busted for smoking weed and suspended for a solid 4 games, which gave the opportunity for Maybin to start. so it's not a question of Motivation - Aaron was just a RS Sophomore this year, playing behind a Pre-season All-American. It's a question of having a loaded depth chart. But the fact that when Evans came back, that he ended up splitting time at Strong side-DE (and why he had such a poor season btw - Evans is going to be a steal late in the draft), should tell you just how good Maybin was this year. I don't think he's a 1-year wonder because he's just getting started. He doesn't really compare to any of our past DEs at Penn State because of his body-type and playing style. Penn State usually prefers bigger, taller guys at DE like Michael Haynes and Courtney Brown. But if I had to compare him to anyone it's Dwight Freeney. And just an FYI Mike Haynes wasn't a one-year wonder. He was a two year starter at PSU, and I think lettered in 3 years. He was a very productive player for Penn State
  5. I don't think he would have been able to knock it down with out interfering anyway. Smith got off the ground first and got to the ball first. Clements can say whatever he wants but look at the tape, he got beat plain and simple. He might have made a mental mistake but I don't think it mattered. Just pretend that was Eric Moulds and a Jax corner and we'd be saying what an amazing play by Eric
  6. I actually kind of liked the diversity of the offense on Sunday. According to the stat book we had passes completed of 17 (Moulds) and 27 (Cambell) as our longest passes.
  7. he made a 53 yarder for the GMen didn't he? against the Iggles?
  8. Eric Moulds' fumble on the goaline I thought was what kept us from shutting the door on this one.
  9. win or lose, the end ruselt of this game is pretty much meaningless. In effect, the first 58 minutes are far better indicator then the final 2 minutes of how good this can be. For proof Buffalo 31 New England 0
  10. agree and we have a few games to try and get better. Like I said, the goal should be around 5 - 3 or 4 - 4.
  11. agree with Steve. In a league where defense generally have the upper hand and 4th Quarter games are the norm for every team, reliable kickers are essential. Actually there's been a downturn for kickers in college and NFL. Now I don't trust anyone 's kicking game. Michigan is a perfect example.
  12. he looked up late and Smith got to the ball before Clements dids. Ever hear of the phrase "Give vredit where credit is due"? That was a pro-bowl play made by a pro-bowl level player
  13. disagree completly. Why is it football fans at all levels are suddenly only about the last 7 days? Its like nothing else matters except the negative. A loss does not mean every single player played badly every single play just like a win doesn't mean every single player played well every single play. Honestly, I'd feel much worse as a Jacksonville fan. Its not like 2 minutes takes away the other 58 minutes of the game.
  14. in a 16 game season. it might be educational to look beyond the scoreboard. Bills were never going to be undefeated so in my bok this loss is pretty much meaningless. In fact, as long as we stay near .500 through the midway point of the season I'll be happy because it'll put us in position for a playoff run. Unlike college football, NFL teams are evolutions and can afford early season losses. It takes these losses to improve. I view the Jacksonville game as a positive. We played well. Eric Moulds is going have a huge season. We proved we could run against a very good run defense. We proved we can protect Bledsoe somewhat. Bledsoe proved he can indeed get rid of the ball. 2 sacks in the entire game speaks for itself. 15 games left and everything to play for.
  15. First off, That Jax Defense is fricken awsome. Great D-Line, great safeties. We shoved them around, we had a diverse attack, what the Bills and Bledsoe did Sunday is probably the manual for beating the Jaguars. I mean, we succesfully ran the ball AND passed the ball on these guys. Defensivly, we shut down the Jags deep attack with Clements and Vincent, We shut down Fred Taylor for the most part. On the last drive, you have to give it up to Jimmy Smith. The guy is one of the best NFL recievers out there. And he made an incredible play. And 9 out of 10 times Clements knocks that ball away. After that I thought Leftwich was great on that drive. Give credit to where credit is due. Also recognize the weird mistakes we made. Moulds fumble on the goal line would have sealed the win for us. The penalty tha forced into a FG situation. Jax is not better than the Bills and they are considered a playoff team. Have some faith guys, this Bills team has the potential to be pretty damn good THIS year.
