Josh Allen "Prove it" Season In Year 3
TwistofFate replied to longtimebillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People will say that, and the reason they will is because they were right, not because they are rejoicing. No one is rejoicing the fact we are screwed without a franchise Qb yet again. There is nothing joyous about that. From what I have noticed on these boards, the people who are so convinced he is a franchise guy are emotionally attached to Allen. People who mention how nice of kid he is, how he's doubted at every stage of his career, how hard of a worker he is, etc, etc. Im not emotionally attached to Allen. He's got a nice story and he's someone you want to root for, but that doesn't cloud my judgement. When I evaluate him I evaluate him compared to his peers, his expectation, and his raw performance. Im not going to deny it, Allen is the main reason we weren't much better last year. If someone asked me what was the weakest link of the 2019 Bills, its without question, Josh Allen. Im willing to chalk it up as a growing year because he showed some growth, not as much as I expected, but this year there is no excuse imo. Imo McD and Beane are both EXPECTING to see big growth this year out of Allen. They are EXPECTING playoff wins. They are EXPECTING points on the board and TDs. They have both alluded to this. Knowing what I know about McBeane, if Allen fails to really pave his way this year, they will begin looking intently for his replacement. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if Cam Newton were brought in here as his back up/replacement if he falters this year. I could absolutely see Cam leading this team while they draft another Qb. The Panther connection is deep, Cam is proven, and its the ultimate insurance policy. -

Its this year because if the light bulb doesn't stay on and real proof that this guy is our franchise guy doesn't materialize, you really need to examine that position in the off-season. If he isn't getting it in year 3 with the continuity, added weapons and growth of teammates around him, what makes you think it happens in year 4? Then when you get to year 4, whats your plan for year 5 at the position if he doesn't improve? Chosing wrong and hanging on too long puts you in Qb limbo. During this limbo you are wasting the rest of the talent on the team. What are you left with? The same thing we've been left with for decades....Holcombs, Ortons, Barkley's, Fitzpatricks, etc. If he flounders this year, im looking at a Qb in the first 3 rounds of the 2021 draft, or grabing the best free agent Qb out there, and looking at a 1st round Qb in 2022. There's no time to waste if a Qb isnt showing he's a franchise guy. Going by the 3 year rule, if your Qb is a bust, at best, you are set back 4-6 years. This team is legitimately a Qb away from being a SERIOUS contender. If its Allen, hooray, if not, do not waste the rest of the talent. -
Josh Allen "Prove it" Season In Year 3

You'd be hard-pressed to find many. Jones threw for multiple 300-yard passing games last season as well as multiple touchdowns in games as a rookie. These stats are about individual performance. Im well over Allens last season, and really don't care to rehash it, it's been tossed around enough and its water under the bridge. Im solely focused on this season. The big year 3. What is he going to do, what is he expected to do, and has this front office attempted everything they could to put Allen in a position to actually reach the expectations? These are questions im after, thats what I want to discuss. I believe my expectations for him are not radical. I believe this front office is doing everything they can to make Allen succeed. I believe he has the best weapons around him this year than any Qb we've had in the last 20 years. I believe its a make it or break it year. He needs a pretty darn good jump to validate the belief he is the franchise Qb of the Buffalo Bills. -

Well, you've been accused because you are wrong, clearly. Just as you are clearly wrong again. Quite frankly, I find your accusations offensive and personally attacking. I said nothing of wanting Allen to fail, nor even hinted to it. This thread is about expectations and what we expect to see out of our Qb this season, who's been dubbed our franchise Qb. -

Please, I can't anymore excuses for Allen. He was drafted because of his "big arm" to play in buffalo wind. He was just terrible in that game. Between the fumbles and horrible passes it was practically unwatchable. There are many other examples, pick one. -

Because we are devoloping Allen. They are giving him everything around him to put up those numbers. 300+ yard game shows you have the ability to be in a gun fight and are never out if a game. I really don't understand how anyone can be cool with Buffalo not having a 300+ yard passer in how many games? Everyone wants to win. But Josh throwing 169 yards on 34 attempts in a blow out loss at home to Philly last year, is a prime example of wanting or needing a Qb capable of putting up. This is Josh's year, those numbers are his expectations, and they aren't radical. -

Completion % above 60% 2 or more 300+ yard games 3800+ yards on the season 24+ Tds Qb rating of 90 or higher. If he is a real franchise guy, these are numbers I expect. He's got the coaching staff, the weapons, and the continuity. No excuses this year. This is the year to prove you are the man and you've arrived. If he fails to take a substantial step forward, OBD needs to seriously evaluate the position and their options next off-season. -
Because you are attempting to cherry-pick players best seasons I am not. I'm talking about what's going to field the Buffalo Bills in 2020 and what those people who are going to take the field did in 2019. Of all the players you mentioned only one of them had a thousand yards season for Buffalo and that was Watkins one time. The conglomerate of talent with a proven track record from the year before is about to take the field together again to build on what they already did last year.
-
Yea bro, im done. This roster is being considered by many in the sports world as a Super Bowl talented roster yet you're going to sit here and try to tell me that this is not the best roster this team has had in 20 years it's laughable. Robert Woods is not in Diggs League. Watkins is not in Diggs as League. You can attempt to match this guy with that guy and this guy with that guy all day long the bottom line is the guys who were taking the field for Buffalo this year are proven from last year. We have the most Talent with the most production to ever field a field in the same season in 20 years. I find it humorous that this is even debatable. Buffalo Bills 2020 roster this far is considered a top 10 in the NFL and according to some sites a top-five.

Huh? Bro..Watkins has nothing on Diggs. The dude can nearly be considered a bust. He had one 1k yard season in his whole career, can not stay healthy, and is very inconsistent. Woods can be considered equal at best to Beasley. Both great route runners with possession skills. Harvin to Brown is laughable. Harvin barely had 1k yards receiving in his final 4 years as a pro, and a whopping 200+ as a Bill. Shady is over the hill and Motor is the younger prime version of him. Clay? Lol A waste of money. This team is about to field two 1,000+ yard Wrs from the previous year, a slot reciever with nearly 800 yards receiving from the previous year, a 2nd year back with explosive play making abilities who averaged over 5 yards a carry last season, and you are trying to tell me these arent the best weapons on the field in 20 years? Lol
-
Allen has not proven himself to be a franchise guy at all. This is his make it or break it season. There is zero excuses. Same system for multiple years, he's a veteran, and he has weapons everywhere, more than any Qb has had in Buffalo in 20 years. Call me skeptical, but I think his accuracy will be his down fall. I don't think he has the accuracy to be a franchise guy at this level. He needs to put up this year or buffalo really needs to re-evaluate the Qb position next off-season.

“One-Hit Wonders” for every NFL Team

"I'm Ko Simpson with the Buffalo Bills. I am worth millions!" -
Is it just me, or is Steve Smith the absolute worst analyst/commentator on the whole staff? I feel dumber every time I listen to him, and each time he's done speaking I think the same thing....how the hell does the NFL allow someone that bad to continue to speak?
-
The Bills just sent the Vikings four picks, including a first-rounder, to acquire Diggs. Those picks are worth 21.9 points on Chase Stuart's draft value chart, which is something close to the eighth overall pick in a typical draft. Im not arguing over who would take what offer, Im speaking on value, period. http://www.footballperspective.com/

Expensive price to pay, a total of 4 draft picks, including a 1st. Diggs is a versatile, proven commodity with a favorable contract and in his prime. Its clear Buffalo is looking to make the jump this season and now not only has the best Wr corps in the AFC East, but in the NFL. Weapons seem to now be everywhere on offense with big play capabilities at every level. The only question mark I have is Josh Allen and if he's capable of making the step necessary to actually utilize what'sbeen bestowed upon him.

So whatever will happen to "Right Josh" Rosen?

So a top 10 pick flames out after starting 14 games??? On two different teams? Man, the hypocrisy on this board is insane! -
So whatever will happen to "Right Josh" Rosen?
TwistofFate replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
lol, how can I have a personal vendetta against someone I don't even know? It's not that hard to defend Rosen, anyone with a single shred of common sense can see his situation is far less than optimal. And....the whole point of this thread is to discuss Rosen.... "Fitz gives us the best chance to win. It's easy for people to sit and say, 'You should do this or that, or this or that.' I don't think those same people will stand in front of that group and say, 'This is in the best interest of the team, for us to win this week,'" Flores said. "That's no knock on Josh. Maybe you think that's in the best interest, but you're not in front of this team every day. You're not in the trenches and a lot of people aren't." Flores believes he could lose the respect of his locker room by telling his players Rosen gives them the best chance to win instead of Fitzpatrick. Rosen has been dealt a bad hand since being drafted No. 10 overall by Arizona in 2018: He has been on two rebuilding teams with constant change, subpar offensive lines and complex schemes -- and each has had an escape plan if it didn't go well with him. Rosen said he doesn't spend much time wishing he could have landed in a more stable situation, such as those of fellow 2018 quarterbacks Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens) and Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills). Its clear to see by anyone without bias. https://www.espn.com/blog/miami-dolphins/post/_/id/30317/planning-ahead-josh-rosens-future-dolphins-2020-qb-picture
