Draft Coverage ESPN Vs Fox/NFL Network
clayboy54 replied to Mopreme's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't watch ESPN, ever. Regardless of which is better, I choose to vote "NO" to ESPN. -
After Goff, Wentz and Bosa, there were no more game-changers available in 2016. This year has many more impact players available for the top 10. That's all I am pointing out.

Senior management is tied-up in a board meeting all day. So, its draft day for me!

No matter what the projections say, I find in very unusual and unlikely that Barkley, or any other RB for that matter will go in the top 5 (or 10 for that matter). This simply has not been the trend in recent years. Regardless of the way QB plays out, if the Giants do not trade out of #2, they will not be taking Barkley at 2. Chubb is a real possibility for them there, but they could get more draft capital and still get a day-1 starter by trading out. My prediction is that we will see Barkley fall out of the top 10, not one of the QBs. We will see in just a few more hours!

Now we know why its called Uranus. On a similar note, why is a Proctologist not called an Astronaut?

He's taking a job as a model for New Era.

Agreed, but of the top probably 8-9 QBs in the draft this year, they are all pretty talented. Even Lauletta, Falk and White are talented guys that need time to grow their game. A few of them are uber-talented. This is why so many "experts" love Allen. Now, which ones will put in the work to really get better and excel at their craft? That is the one I want.

Yes, but for whatever the reason, Luck has not become the savior that people projected him to be. Because of the variables, injuries included, it's a crap-shoot. I'd rather take my chances on personality, work-ethic and drive to motivate the guy I pick.

Funny how the argument about "can't miss guys" always mentions Andrew Luck. Check. He was the #1 can't miss guy. However, he hasn't hit on anything as of yet, and with his shoulder concerns, he's far from what was expected of him. Yet some of the other guys that nobody projected as "can't miss" continue to impress year after year. What this should teach us is that you can't judge future NFL success by past college results alone. So much of the possibilities rest on the personality, drive and dedication of the individual. Those that work the hardest, study the most and are able to overcome the pitfalls of the learning process succeed as NFL QBs, not the ones that "can't miss" coming out of college. If Beane and his team can identify the guy with that motivation, they need to go up, down or sideways to get him, no matter what the cost. There are never many of these kinds of guys. Especially today.

What Defines Success For A Franchise QB
clayboy54 replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that Tony Romo is a perfect example of this conundrum. He was a franchise QB for Dallas, without a doubt. His work ethic was tremendous, he was a leader on and off the field. He was a consummate professional and was the "leader of men." Interestingly, he made some bone-headed plays, and was never the guy who could put the game on his shoulders and take them all the way. And, he had some real talent around him at times. During his time in Dallas, the team was always competitive, and even in the down years, they were always in the national spotlight. This defines the term franchise QB. But, he's probably not a HOF guy, and certainly not a first ballot HOF guy. That said, I would take a Tony Romo all day long. Not the most talented, but a true franchise guy. -
Wouldn't it be nice if we could start our day at 3 PM?

Sam Bradford to Arizona Per Schefter

Yes. All of them. -
Its hard for me to imagine that one of the top QBs won't drop out of the top 5. Someone always does. Whomever it is this year, the Bills will have a grade on. If he's there and they can get a partner, I believe they'll trade up. Unfortunately, even though I believe they should, I will guess they won't trade up into the top 5.
-
If they don't trade the King's Ransom to move up and get their guy, then yes. I'd draft one in the 21st or 22nd slot and another one in the 3rd or 4th. If, on the other hand, they feel strongly enough to move up, I'd live with Peterman as the backup.

Eagles Use Fake Walk Through Before SB
clayboy54 replied to pimp on da' net's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we take nothing else away from watching Tony Romo call games this year, we now should understand that it IS pretty easy to "know" what the next play will be. Romo repeatedly identified the plays BEFORE they were run. So, the argument that the Patriots (or anybody else) must have known the play calls is bogus in my mind. However, the ability to understand what's coming next is based on understanding their tendencies for specific down and distances, and knowing what's in their playbook for that week. This is precisely where the Patriots cheat the system. They have spies that watch for the plays BEFORE the game, in walkthroughs and practices. That way, they narrow the list of possible choices and make the tendencies much easier to predict. Whether they're filming them, or just watching them and reporting back. That is the cheat. Add in a little favoritism by the officials, and you have perennial contenders. -
Josh McDaniels Withdraws from Colts' HC Job

Probably right, Ed. The shame is that the Pats don’t have to honor the rules everyone has has to obey, in this case contract law. -
