Please remind me of what happened in 1974. I was pretty stoned that year.

Teams need spectacular plays to beat us by 3
clayboy54 replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
The problem with this train of thought is that we do not have the secondary players right now. You want to double Jefferson and leave who on an island? We have good depth players starting, not bonafide starters. With Poyer alone, we have some stability out there, but we can’t seem to get him healthy. Without Poyer, Hyde and Tre, we are rudderless back there. I do think Dane is a fine #2. He’s better than Wallace was. But when you bank your entire secondary around a decent #2 corner and no one else, you’re gonna be in trouble. You just cannot blame Beane for not having four all-pro players as backups. Frankly, it’s just really bad luck that our entire secondary is down to one decent corner and a bunch of perennial backups. Don’t forget that we had a substantial drop-off when Tremaine went down. I get that most don’t like him, but he was sorely missed in the second half. He was having a good game. -
Yes maybe, but it could be McHackett.

This team as it currently sits, is not making the playoffs. Next season, please get a real offensive coordinator. -

He’s a part of the grass field movement. He won’t play unless we put in grass at Highmark. -

I just figured you were a part of the global conspiracy to show Josh tore his UCL. 😂 -

I see what you did there! -
Geno reverting to the “real” Geno.

I agree with you as well. However that is this next offseason. The OBJ question is this season. Do you take that plunge with an underperforming team? Lets hope they stop underperforming today.
-
I totally agree with you on this. But, if we continue to play sloppy, uninspired football over the next couple or few games like we did midseason last year, then I figure it’s a waste. Just let the current team play it out and see if we can overcome :13 on their own.

Nope. I don’t see it that way at all. We’ll see. -
I now believe that a lot of the decisions on this will be made over the next 2-3 games. If the window is still open to be “all-in” then OBJ will be a Bill. If we drop a game or two, then all that is off the table for this year. You can mortgage some of the future with such a signing only if it reaps the reward of a Super Bowl. If it doesn’t work out, you will not have a second chance without a rebuild of sorts. This is the risk teams like the Rams took. You can see that it got them a ring, and now this. Maybe the Rams were extreme because they did it with multiple players. But, the same risk/reward applies to the Bills plans right now. So far, Beane hasn’t been willing to mortgage the future. Will he now?

Yes, but we were spared all the “fire the coach” posts that otherwise would’ve been rampant across every topic. -
I put my trust in Dr. Vinny Boombatz.

All you have to do is remember back to the previous Bills v Jets games. Williams was a non-factor. He’s having a helluva year this season. But, he’s been nothing like this in previous seasons. Now, I’m not saying Oliver is better, or even as good. I’m just pointing out that Quinnen Williams has not been all that until this season. That should lead to hope that Oliver can also progress at a similar rate, injury be damned.
-
He’s clearly better than Settle, who will be gone. Next to him you have to retain Jones. You will still have Phillips and they may feel Zimmer will be good to go in 2023. We do need another 1T guy imo.
-
Guys like you would’ve already chalked Williams up as a bust if he was here. He did virtually nothing until this season. Oliver has been far more consistent, albeit average, than Williams over the course of their short careers.

Beane is deciding if a forfeit is in order. Might as well rest everybody for the playoffs. -
Don't forget to bring your pitchfork and torches! As a part of this group, you fit right in.
