  1. I hope his prosthetic leg holds up okay under the mammoth pressure of the fan base.
  2. But, but, I read here he should be cut, retire or didn’t want to play on turf or even play football anymore. Why is he active?
  3. I haven’t missed anything. Especially their boneheaded decisions leading to failure.
  4. They probably gave him the key to the city!
  5. Lions, Goff and “attack” do not belong in the same sentence.
  6. What a great name though!
  7. Can you at least wash the skid marks out of them first?
  8. I know… if you really stink and get cut by multiple teams, you might become a billionaire. What a great concept.
  9. While they’re there, are they going to tour the birthplace of Ralph C Wilson?
  10. They should wear the 1960 uniform to mess with the Lions.
  11. Thanks for the kind remark.
  12. Seriously, there are a lot of very dim-witted NFL players, you have to admit.
  13. Next, the ACLU will sue because the NFL uniforms are racist against the color-blind. Oh boy!
  14. I think you’re taking it a little too deep. Not having long-term guaranteed contracts is not at all fixed wage scales. These guys can earn as much or even more with the current way the contracts are incentivized for production. That would all go away with guaranteed contracts. Also, it goes both ways which would not be good. On a guaranteed contract, the ability to renegotiate would not be as available. Plus, the no-cut, no-trade clauses and similar verbiage would probably not apply. Plus, what does that do to the salary cap? Signing bonuses and other incentives? Okay, I understand that a guaranteed contract is a hedge against serious injury. Other than that, it is not what it is made out to be for the players. This would open the door to re-designing The Whole Enchalada. As I see it, the only thing that would do is guarantee a player strike. (And rightfully so.)
  15. Sure. Let’s leave the inexperienced secondary on an island, while we’re at it. It’s always a compromise. One or two well-timed blitzes is enough for me. Too much investment is DL to need to keep bringing 5-6 every down.
  16. I think we should change to all dark green with white stripes, so they blend in with the field. You could sneak guys downfield and nobody would be able to see them. 😛
  17. Who still uses a black & white television? Analog TV went away years ago. Those TVs would not even pickup digital channels. Step into the 21st century, please.
  18. I follow your thought process. However, how do we know that it’s just not an issue where the pieces can’t grasp the playbook? Or maybe they just look bad in practice. I don’t think that Dorsey or McDermott is just being stubborn and penalizing the team because they don’t like somebody. That’s something a guy like Bill OBrian would do. Our playbook is known to be complex. It also is likely very different than college or WCO teams, as an example. Therefore, it is not hard to imagine that some of these guys are not able to grasp all the concepts in their first weeks, months or even year on the team. These guys are often not the sharpest knives in the drawer, remember.
  19. Of course they did. But, where is illegal to decide how you can run your private business. This is not a government institution. It’s the NFL. If they make a rule to have a salary cap, is it illegal? If they make a rule that you cannot trade players after the deadline, is it illegal? If they make a rule that no fully guaranteed contracts are allows, it is likewise not illegal. Neither was player rights ownership, until the government decided to meddle and make it so. I suppose they could do the same thing here. But, if they do they could also say that all tailgates are illegal, or all seats must be priced at $300. Or that no drinking is allowed at NFL games. Do you want them to continue down this path, or just leave things alone?
  20. Was there a flaming table behind that snow drift?
  21. You’re crying to the wrong guy, dude. I’m a 2x cancer survivor, have 2x titanium hips, half a stomach and 3 stents in my arteries. I was a NCAA division 1 athlete back in the early 70s (hockey). Yeah, it’s tough as hell to realize that all your hard work and endless hours of practice and training are gone and you’re back to square one. You know, I didn’t have what it takes to make it to the next level. Then I had to face up to the reality that I had to get a real job like everyone else. It sucks and it plays games with the head. Here, we are talking about a guy who rose above that. Sometimes even today it makes me envious. However, if you have everything it takes to do it once, you can do it again. You suck it up, take the bitter pill and rise up again. I’ve been there a few times and expect nothing less from any elite athlete. In the case of Tre White, he is a lot more accomplished than I ever was. He certainly has a lot more money and accolades than I ever had. He needs to get back to work, get healthy and be the best version of himself. Failure is simply not an option.
  22. Maybe if one or two of the guys playing can start to make some plays, Tre might feel some pressure to come back. As of now, it’s like the Keystone Cops back there. “Let’s just run around chasing guys until the whistle blows. And whatever you do, don’t turn your head to look for the ball. That’s just what they’ll expect you to do.”
  23. I guess at some point you start to throw crap at the wall and hope something sticks.
