Erik Turner speaks to the film he is showing, and he's an expert at it (it becomes obvious if you watch a fair amount of his content). There's really no opportunity to be biased about that as its based on real plays on tape and you can see it for yourself in plain sight. Maybe you guys are misquoting his take on Saffold, or thinking of some of the other cover1 presenters. I found this video with a quick search that Erik did. Here he is speaking highly about Saffold in the run game only (along with 3 former NFL O-linemen agreeing at the time about his effectiveness in the running game at the time). As it turned out, clearly Saffold lost any and all of his foot speed he may have had left and was atrocious in the passing game all year, but I never heard Erik say he was any good in the passing game. Erik shows plenty of negative plays guys make on tape throughout the season as well as the good ones, but of course as an outlet that relies on likes and subs they are going to cover aspects that the people want to see.

Actually, he's an extremely good run defender. Here's a breakdown that covers it quite well:

Sorry yes 15.5 is what I meant to type earlier. I’m up way too late🙂 but yes, 16th highest DT salary which is about where his film commentary seems to have him. Most I’ve seen rate him as an above average DT, and TFL’s for him reflect that too
-
Just in case you want to see it anyway. He’s likely right…. Shefter is more of a news breaker from the agent than a guy who breaks down how the money gets spread

Joe Buscalia article mentions it as the likely total over 5 years since it’s an extension

It’s funny how not a single post in this thread references any film reviews of Ed, or reviews of his play by those who review film. Instead it’s just a boatload of self proclaimed experts on DT play mostly who know little too nothing. You don’t need to be a film review expert to find articles from those who are, or a video on YouTube. The best thing about it is it’s really hard to bs it. Read/ watch and learn that Ed is a good DT and at what looks like 11.5 mil over 5 years, is being paid like a good DT. Might the injuries present a risk? Sure. But that’s only 2 people I’ve read… The rest of you who have decided that he sucks are laughable. This move very likely frees up more 2023 cap too, and we shall see what happens there.

D-line coach Eric Washington’s comments on Ed Oliver — hoo boy
34-78-83 replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Everything that made Kyle Williams a very good player is what is holding back Ed. Kyle learned how to read the key indicators being presented by the opponent and use them to his advantage. Things like what kind of stance an opponent is in, if he leaning forward or back or tilted slightly in a direction, what a man in motion means on the play and how that changes where the ball might go, etc. etc. It's not that Ed is too dumb to pick that up, and its not that he's not studying film (he wouldn't play if he didn't), its more that he has not made it to the advanced levels of studying film that give some of these guys an edge. Being "late" when you're "light" more often than not spells trouble post-snap. -
Ross Tucker ranks NFL Coach’s, places McDermott at #22.

I will today if I get a chance. I am very familiar with Ross though and he has fairly regular appearances on WGR. Plus Happy Days did a fine job explaining what was said. This sounds like typical Ross, which is thought provoking but I find myself fairly regularly not agreeing with his takes. His points that take away from McD are fine in a vacuum, but NOT fine relative to many of the other coaches listed ahead of him. But seriously Dabol?? ( took a better roster than the 2017 Bills and did the same thing McD did with less) McDaniel?? (underachieved and mismanaged a life threatening injury to his starting QB)... Lots of the names ahead of McD are clown level. Ok I've already spent way too much time on this topic. -

That's fine. I just find it to be BS, and therefore clickbait. You do you, man... I respect it. He just "Found a way" to make his current shtick work, and set the bar there. I still don't think he actually believes he's that low. That's crazy. McD has been just as big a part in developing the players on the team as with coaching them. A part of why they are so good is credited to him. There is no one in the world that can tell me those coaches I listed are better than McD. Its just stupid on an extreme level. McD is a top 10 head coach in the NFL. Top 15 at worst. When you can take the dog crap we had in 2017 and bring it to a 9-7 record, then also not disappoint consistently year after year with 11 to 13 wins on a better roster, that's a very good coach. a top 10 coach. Tucker got exactly what he wants to get out of this. -

There is no way that even Ross Tucker actually believes that there are 21 guys better than McD. McDaniel? O'Connell? LaFleur?, Dabol? Rivera? Staley???? LMAO. Just no way. Pure 100% unadulterated click bait (and its working). -
Hopkins released by Arizona (7/16: signed by Titans)

but but but, Lofton! (Kidding, although what a great timely pickup he was back when). I imagine the #'s are quite glaring. HOWEVER, consider with DHop that speed was never his greatest asset. It's really been positioning and hands with him for his career. Might make him a more valuable add post 30. -

I've not seen a more well targeted click bait since that d*** nosed Chiefs fan guy's antics. I didn't think Tucker rolled this way, but yep, yep he does.... Bottom third is absolutely laughable! -
Maybe they tried to
