We aquired some nice pieces in FA, and moved up 9 spots for a LT that we didn't need!
-
Nick Foles says Hi. Blake Bortles says Hi. Case Keenum says Hi. All had their teams a win away from the SB. Foles won it. All were viewed as below average-average at best last year. They had great teams though , so they didn't need to play great. How has that worked for Stafford,Rivers for example. Even if we hit on a QB , you still need a great team behind him. We have a chance to build a great team with 5 picks in first 65 selections. If we take a QB at 12 or 22, that's fine with me. Just cannot see Beane mortgaging the future for the available qbs
-
Glenn was traded to save $$ because Dawkins stepped in as a rookie and played very well at LT. There is no hole created, the hole was plugged when Buffalo traded up to get Dawkins. Now we're paying our starting LT a rookie contract for the next 3 years.. He would have likely been cut anyway!
-
Absolutely. So why, in year 2, while still building the team with their vision, take such a risk on one of these particular qbs is mind boggling. We'd be giving up all 5 top 65 picks, only way I'd do that is if there was a special QB out there. A can't miss prospect, ala Luck, Cam ... This isn't Madden folks. Throwing away high draft picks on a question mark doesn't equate to sustainable winning.

Everybody and their mother knew Wentz n Goff were going 1 and 2. They were highly regarded as potential franchise qbs and those two were on a level and every other QB was below. There's 4 QB that you can make an argument for one being better than the other, there isn't a clear cut guy. Why waste so much precious draft capital on one?? I could see if McD has been here for years and they had a roster full of their guys, but it's year 2 and still laying the foundation, those picks are extremely valuable to a 2nd year GM and HC,
-
I think it's a crap shoot. No QB is labeled as a clear cut franchise guy this year. No Luck, Wentz , Cam , etc.. We have just as much chance at staying at 12 and getting a better qb or hitting on a mid rounder. Look at Wilson,Dak,Carr for example.. less and less QB are producing that are highly drafted.

Beane isn't throwing away all these picks for a AB. I'm telling you guys. Listen to the man speak. It's not happening. He values those picks to much, rightfully so The QB got paid the most was a 4th rder. Keenum undrafted. I think Foles is more realistic than these rookie QB that are just beyond overhyped on here! Same ppl that would have traded the farm for Ponder, Gabbert,Locker , Clausen etc are saying this
-
Thank God we didn't do it for a question mark. Build a great team with our draft capital, please don't throw it away on a QB that is a straight up question mark, as far as how their game will translate to the NFL.. People are acting like these QB are going to come in and really havoc on the league. More than likely they are fringe starters in 3 years, worth a mid Rd pick!

Vinny Curry Headed to Tampa Bay on a 3-Year Deal
JerseyBills replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can't understand why anyone would want Hughes gone, he's worth 10 mil a year. Lawson is on a rookie deal. Instead of moving any DE , we quietly put together a dangerous rotation. Hughes - Murphy - Shaq - Lorax is a quality group of DE. We're going to look at his deal like Hyde/Poyer. A steal. Murphy can play!! -
Jets just traded with Colts for #3 pick in first round
JerseyBills replied to Hurricane's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I see the logic and agree to an extent but there's not a clear cut QB that is going to be a franchise guy, let alone a starter. The risk is huge, the reward is huge as well. We watched 3 non franchise QB have their teams within a game of the SB... If you have great talent throughout the team, you don't need spectacular QB play to succeed. Beane doesn't strike me as a guy who is willing to take such an extreme risk. There's no Andrew Luck , Cam Newton , Wentz out there. . There's alot of question marks -

Thank you!! We'd have no draft capital left, I don't understand why people want to trade up for a question mark when we can load this roster with 5 top 60 prospects and really build a consistent winner. Beane always stresses consistent winning and building through the draft, trading all your capital doesn't fit this vision -
What are his cap hits by year? (Already saw, disregard) Our DL could actually be dangerous. Hemakes those around him better... Hughes and Murphy are both very talented and could become a nice little pass rushing duo. Also allows Kyle and Adolphus to penetrate the OL, something both are very good at. I'd grab a DT by Rd 3 as well .. He shores up a bad run D as well and is Always available!

Money Badger - a Texan 1yr $7 mil
JerseyBills replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Getting nicked up. He's small for his physical play and his body can't take the punishment. When healthy, he's still an amazing player. Texans scare me. -
[Vague Title]This needs to be said.....
JerseyBills replied to elltrain22's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree on Beane as far as he is a legit GM that we haven't had in quite some time. I hope we don't trade up. These QB are so bunched together. There is no clear cut superstar... People want a QB just to have one. This year showed a good overall team is the way to go over reaching for a franchise QB. Bortles,Foles,Keenum had their teams a win away from a SB! These guys are average qbs. With Bortles below average imo. Where's Stafford, Rivers, Winston , Carr etc etc when the playoffs roll around? If this staff loves a QB, I trust their decision making skills. I just don't think Beane values any of them enough to give up the 22nd pick. I could be wrong, I have NO CLUE what is going on at OBD behind the scenes, but Beane always says he's here to build a consistent winner and building through the draft. 5 chances at top 60 talent, can instantly change this overall team from good to great and have a bunch of top end talent on rookie deals, which equates to consistent winning -
I haven't followed Murphy either but i checked out what they were saying on Skins boards n Twitter. Every fan wanted him. It was just a money thing and they have 2 good pass rushers. High motor, lengthy, athletic , fierce and hungry player that loves the game. In 16 he also had 3 FF on 9 sacks and many articles and comments regarding him as the most consistent defensive player that year. Skins anticipated him being a huge part on D in 17 and unfortunately got hurt. We're getting a legit pass rusher/ very good complement to Hughes and didn't have to break the bank. His ceiling is very high.
-
I know the names don't say so but I bet Murphy was their first option. They were reportedly one of the 3 final teams in his pursuit. Clayborn will be more costly , Murphy has the potential to be a beast and is known to be vocal, with alot of heart. Typical Pat guy, now turning into a typical Bills guy with the process
-
Quiet but deadly FA period. No superstar signings but that's totally fine.. I watched some Star game film, he was doubled regularly, does a great job at doing the dirty work, which will let Adolphus and Kyle penetrate the backfield, which they're really good at. Murphy is going to be be beloved by fans. Huge motor, blue collar, legit pass rusher . Him and Star instantly upgrade our DL tremendously over 2017. Murphy will surprise many with his skills, like Poyer/Hyde. Bush is quality S depth Davis and Ivory could both have huge impacts at their position. Mccarron is the unknown but very low risk, high reward signing. Building a TEAM. No outrageous contracts, just continuing to add players that fit their vision.
-
Is Leonard Johnson a FA? I thought he was very solid in the slot..
-
Just remember, Lorax will be playing much more DE guys. He ended last year with a bang. That playoff game he played phenomenal football, but I noticed the last 5 weeks that his play was much increased over the previous weeks. McD found a way to maximize his talents and he can play. With Hughes-Murphy-Shaw-Lorax-Davis/Yarbrough , that's a very good, deep rotation
-
Yea really. He will do the best thing for the team,if it doesn't involve huge money out his pockets
