Beane: Gore will push McCoy to be the starter
JerseyBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's a great thought, it certainly looks like they have a pretty clear vision of what they want to achieve on offense and I could see that being super effective, especially with defenses also having to account for Allens running ability, that type of scheme can really open the offense up. With all the RB being very good in the pass game as well, that'd be very interesting and exciting. -
2 Robert Foster's and 5 Dion Dawkins in '18...
JerseyBills replied to akcash's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good points. i also think Allen is very good at play action, just didn't get many opportunities to showcase that ability with the lack of protection and run game. Just the OL improvement alone is going to have a super positive domino effect for this offense and as you pointed out, having Foster and Brown to contend with the deep ball is going to open up so much underneath for Cole and Zay, who will see much more favorable matchups with the added talent. This offense could really emerge as a problem for opposing defenses -

Same, i'm anticipating a big bounce back year from Shady and Gore can play at a very very high level . They started training last off season and both really gushed about one another, I see this as a win win , with 2 friends who happen to be HOF RB pushing each other to their highest level this year. Love Yeldon and Singletary behind them as well. -
D&C's Maiorana Projects The Final 53
JerseyBills replied to OldTimeAFLGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really? OL is definitely the position I have the weakest understanding and perspective of , what makes you think he fits better as a G? -
I don't see any reason why Zay doesn't actually make a big jump, he was regarded as our #1 WR last year by opposing defenses, he certainly was given more attention than Benjamin in defensive gameplans, now suddenly you got Foster who had as good of a 2nd half as any rookie and 2 legit vets to worry about, Zay might never be a #1 option but to give up on him at this point is ridiculous, we traded up for this guy, he has shown glimpses and don't be surprised if he makes a big jump as he goes against more favorable match ups week in and out.

The NFL's Top Remaining Free Agents
JerseyBills replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't forget Lorax. Was a top DE according to PFF. Actually him and Hughes were the only DE combo league wide to finish in top 10. He filled Milanos role when he went down but he's still a very effective piece of the rotation, allows flexibility kicking Shaq or Murphy inside -
Post draft Ranking AFC Hopefuls P1
JerseyBills replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i think Buffalo and Indy are both really on the up and up. Jets still have a shaky OL, not that the Bills OL has proven anything but we literally upgraded 4/5 positions on paper, and the Jets also have a shaky secondary and no edge rushers which is crucial, Jerry Hughes for example may not have the sacks but his pressures on 3rd down are a huge reason for our defensive success. i think indy , buffalo and potentially Cleveland could be powerhouses in the afc As bad a passer as Tyrod was, nothing I saw from Jackson suggests he's even a better passer than Taylor! He's a better runner but like you said, that got completely exposed and neutralized vs Chargers and the blueprint is out there how to stop that run attack. I wish him luck but i just don't see Jackson taking a big leap as a passer, i think he's Tyrod 2.0 basically, might sneak ya in the playoffs but nothing more. -
I was very surprised the Jets went with Q. Leonard Williams is considered a borderline bust here in Jersey, not because he isn't a good player , but they expected greatness, which he is not at that level, at least yet. You look at that defense, the secondary is shaky and they literally have no premiere edge rusher, i'm sure Q was the highest on the board but the majority of Jet fans wanted Allen, because of their lack of edge rushers. I guess we'll see how it plays out. Good point on the Gase non sighting, pretty unusual for a first year HC no? Makes me appreciate what McBeane has brought to Buffalo.

All i know is I want Hughes extended immediately. I'd give him a 2 year extension this year, restructure contract, plenty of edge rushers play in their prime til their mid 30s. Hughes has less NFL tread as he rarely played in his first 3 yrs. He was the leading edge rusher in the NFL in amount of pressure on QBS, ridiculous motor and just caused mayhem in the backfield on a consistent basis. If Oliver is close to the player we think he is, and gets a lot of pressure up the middle, that is going to do wonders for Hughes sack and FF numbers. We will have a ridiculous amount of cap space entering next year too

The Competition for WR6 on the Bills Roster
JerseyBills replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have Zay, Foster, Cole ,Smokey Brown and Andre Roberts (mainly based off his elite Return ability) as locks. Duke, McKenzie, Sills and Ray Ray are my 4 WR I predict to be fighting for 1-2 roster spots. If Foster maintains his second half play and Zay makes a jump , which i fully expect, this is suddenly a deep WR room! Also , I like McKenzie alot as well, I'm looking beyond the stats here, but he looked incredibly dangerous every time he touched the rock. He's the gadget WR , I really like him and feel he has a legit shot at making the 53. Remember with all these WR had ZERO chemistry with Allen! Foster was the only one that Allen was throwing to in Training Camp, but even that chemistry was limited since Foster got sent back to the PS. So it's safe to say any returning WR will have a much better rapport with Allen , who will actually be able to gain some chemistry with his WR. Add in a tremendously improved OL, everything is pointing to the WRs and Allen having a muchhhhhh better year. This is why i didn't want to waste a draft pick on a WR, we're quietly alot deeper and talented then people think. -
This is what people seem to forget about Star - that he's a crucial piece to Mcd's defense on run downs and imo does a fantastic job at playing his role, which like you said, is a thankless role. He's a space eater, occupies multiple OL and allows those around him to make plays, we knew this when he was coming in, the run D did improve , but not as much as we'd like. I think Oliver for example will benefit a great deal from Star, and could see him having an immediate impact, spending alot of time in other teams backfields. Also, as pointed out already, his contract was front loaded, so if the Bills did want out next year or the following, it wouldn't be a big cap hit at all. I like Star more than most, but was taken back by him only being on the field under half the time. I see Oliver as an improvement over Kyle last year, and now we have Jordan Phillips for the whole year, who is great depth and can def step in and start if needed. Also watch out for Dirty Harry Phillips, he's my Breakout player of the year, i think he's a stud and will make a big leap with a year under his belt. So now there's even more talent next to Star at DT, and that is a very deep position imo. Ultimately i feel Harry and Oliver will be our long term DT combo...

RD 6, Pick 181: S Jaquan Johnson, University of Miami
JerseyBills replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i was going to start a thread but i'm having trouble posting screenshots of the comments, anyway, iv'e never seen such positive feedback on a 6th rd pick. On twitter, a few Gator fans responded to me and others and are just raving about this kid. I understand fan bases have a tendency to overrate our players but there are tons of positive comments and really no negative ones. " You got the steal of the draft" " You guys hit the jackpot with this kid" " Just wait til you realize what type of player this kid is". Basically just alot of stuff along those lines, so it interested me to do some digging and i was pretty blown away this kid wasn't taken before the 4th. What caught my eye most was his instincts, which is a fantastic trait for a S. Obviously he's not leap frogging Poyer or Hyde but I think he can leap frog Bush. Nonetheless, i think he's a lock to make this roster, and we quietly added some nice depth behind our 2 stud safeties and McD loves his Big Nickel package (2 LB, 3 S, 2 CB) -
Shaq Lawson Option decision week. What do you do?
JerseyBills replied to Seoulful Soul's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i'm really on the fence, we do have a healthy amount of cap space next year and Shaq seemed to turn a corner the last half of the season. I know the Bills like his versatility , McDermott was kicking him inside alot more during this time, mainly on pass downs. He's a strength in the run game for sure, i believe he was our best run defender per PFF. Obviously you don't want to commit that much to a run stopping specialist but he definitely has the potential to have a much bigger impact in the pass game. He had 2 very good gms getting after the passer in week 16 and 17 as well. First and foremost though, Hughes needs to be extended , i'd like to add 2 years to his deal so we have him locked in til 2021. I'm pretty much on board with whatever Buff does with Shaq, if they view him as someone able to be a more complete DL, i trust their views, and vice versa. Remember, we also likely lose Lorax after this year, assuming we do re sign Hughes, we have Hughes, Murphy and not much after. With Oliver added, a great young secondary, I want them to build a monster of a DL. -
Don't forget McKenzie and Ray Ray. McKenzie looked Dangerous everytime he touched the ball. Thanks for the post , I'm still just puzzled how so many fans can't see this!
-
Don't forget Lorax . He was a top 10 edge rusher according to PFF! I see him getting even more opportunities at DE this year . Plus we just added Oliver who now gives us a Legit rusher up the middle. I think pressure up the middle is more important to this team than the edge. Kyle def lost a step last year , so we really didn't have that pressure from DT last year. That'll change with Oliver! I also see Shaq being kicked inside alot more , as the year went on he was being kicked inside alot more.
-
Thank you! At least there's some of you out there who realize that we have a legit WR corps who have different skill sets and alot to offer. Shady/Yeldon are elite receiving RB as well! We have plenty of legit options in the pass game And again , the major improvement of the OL is probably more important than any WR we brought in or could have brought in!
-
Your point?!? We aquired two starting caliber WR in FA! Do ppl not listen to the front office philosophy? Beane has said multiple times that he addresses need in FA and goes BPA in the draft! There wasn't a WR who was BPA when we picked. Ppl are acting like WR is a major need and I just don't understand how most of you guys don't see that! Our starting WR week 1 compared to week 1 last year will be night and day, we vastly improved the position , not only from FA but by guys like Foster and Zay taking the next step , which will make them very dangerous.
-
.. L Glad this thread was started, I'm actually happy we didn't add a WR .We have 4 WR (Beasley, Smokey Brown, Foster and Zay) who at least have proven they can make an impact in this league. I know ppl will trash Zay but he was the #1 WR many games , going against the best or 2nd best CB usually . He will now be matched up with much less talented CB. Entering year 3 , feel he has lots of potential and can make a jump. Don't forget about Andre Roberts who is mainly just a return man and possibly the best 1 in the game . That's 5 WR right there! They drafted Ray Ray last year , brought in McKenzie and Duke Williams and probably a couple UDFA to battle for 1 or 2 spots. Also add Kroft,Knox at TE and Yeldon who joins Shady as another great receiving RB. I don't understand why people are upset for not drafting a WR. We have the first 5 WR I mentioned that are locks to make the roster! It wasn't a need imo or at least not a big need at all. Like Beane said when asked about drafting Singletary over a WR , there was none rated higher, so he goes BPA , again , it's also not a need anyway! Plus revamping an atrocious OL is one of the best ways to improve the pass game. R-E-L-A-X He was just EXTREMELY overrated by the armchair GMs on TV and social media.

RD 6, Pick 181: S Jaquan Johnson, University of Miami
JerseyBills replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely. We are deep pretty much at every position group!! It's pretty amazing really, they totally rebuilt this roster , since McD took over , only Shady, Hughes and Lorax are starting from the previous regime! I think Shaq and Dimarco are the only other players left on this roster from the Rex Regime. That's 48/53 new players on this team since early 2017, which is a total tear down and rebuild. And expectations are sky high imo. That's a great accomplishment for McBeane . They added a young , legit core - Edmunds,Allen, Tre , Milano , Levi , Taron , Foster are all impact players drafted since 17. Plus Harrison Phillips , Dawkins and Zay have the potential and are close to getting to that point and Ed Oliver, Ford and Knox likely start in their rookie year . Just phenomenal drafting , which is how you build great teams that have long term success. I love this staff. We struck gold imo and 2019 is the beginning of an era imo , which was their blueprint and vision the whole time Well I meant slot, but we can have guys fill in if needed, we are VERY talented and deep at CB . We do have Neal also at S, who is a question mark but got some play time last year and hopefully can make a jump. Also Maurice Alexander at S but he's listed as LB so I'm not sure. Either way, I'm also glad we got a S -

JerseyBills replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I feel he'll be used in the big Nickel package over Bush if he has a great TC. If Taron Johnson stays healthy he's a stud at the slot , but ya there's not much behind him. -
RD 3, Pick 96: TE Dawson Knox, Ole Miss
JerseyBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Crickets lol Even though he was Undrafted, Knox reminds me of the same type situation that Foster was in , as far as not having big numbers and not being the first option on his team.
