Sorry for not seeing this one, Bill. Here's what I think: Moats is an up and comer. Guys like Cedric Benson and freshman megastar Adrian Peterson may get more press, but he's right up there. He's got speed galore, but he also is very good at finding the open spot on the field and using his blockers. Though he doesn't have the Eddie George type frame, he's got a compact build that, along with his speed, allows him to be a very shifty back ala Barry Sanders. I remember reading some pre-season articles about Moats wondering just how well he'd do without Luke McCown running the spread offense for La Tech. To those 'experts'..............any more questions?? Lyman is finally healthy, for the first time in about 5 years. It's unfortunate, because he's a strong receiver as well as a pretty fast one. BUT, with 5 injuries that required operations in 4 years and with another pretty severe ankle injury that almost required one, he's going to be a big risk beyond this season. Durability will be the main issue for him. If his injuries are a thing of the past, then someone will get a really good WR next year. If not, it'll be more of the same for Chase: more "what could have been" talk because of injuries. We discussed Alex Barron in another post and you know I think he's a good OL prospect for next year. Not the clear-cut best, but a really good one.

They're in a down period. It would be the same whether they were independent too. It just would manifest itself in a bowl game, where they'd be exposed, or in a big matchup on the regular season schedule. Remember, they did very well their first few seasons in the Big 11.

Worse yet, we have every reason to build a rock solid OL. We've committed to Bledsoe, at least for this season, so we have an immobile QB who can, when given time, make some nice throws down the field. That said, why in the world wouldn't you want a great interior OL in front of him, so that he can step up in the pocket (I think that's what they're called; it's been so long since I've seen one) and find an open WR without being hammered by some DL or LB?

I don't hate, so it stands to reason that I don't hate Donahoe. I do, however, have concerns about this team, such as the offensive line. This is an area that hasn't been properly addressed in many years, even before Donahoe was hired. For all the moves he's made, the Bills have won 17 of 52 games during his time as GM/President. Fair or not, he will be judged on the wins and losses, just like a player or coach would be. We've all heard the excuses on why this team is 0-4 and we've done plenty of finger pointing and name calling. What I'd like to see is some sign that this team will get better, which will lead to an end to most of the negativity.

We know what the problems are and we're in the process of correcting them. We just have to make plays and execute better.

It's not close to being over. Look around the board and I'm sure you'll also find plenty of posts about this year's Bills.

In theory, you're right. Problem is, we'll probably go through another offseason of not addressing the offensive line with any quality help and nothing will change. I would love to be proven wrong on this one though.
