  1. Just which of the two did you think DIDN'T deserve to go to the Pro Bowl? Farrior is playing well enough to garner votes for NFL Defensive Player of the Year and Porter is having another solid year. Heck, they left off CB Deshea Townshend, who also is playing Pro Bowl caliber football for them.
  2. How about Reed or Russell Copeland?
  3. Sigh. Phoenix was mentioned as an example to show that there are teams in the NBA that play good, fudamental basketeball. I haven't watched enough of this season to give you statistical data as to what percentage of NBA teams are fundamentally sound and what percentage isn't. It's just an example, that's all.
  4. I have seen highlights of Sonics games and they don't look that bad overall. Ray Allen is having an MVP-type season for them. He looks incredible.
  5. I think what he is trying to convey to people is that Phoenix, as a team, DOES play the game the way it is supposed to be played. Does every team do that? More than likely they don't, but I don't think his comments are to reflect on the entire NBA. BTW, NBA games are 48 minute games, aren't they?
  6. 1983 New Year's Day New Orleans, Louisiana; the Superdome Penn State 27 - Georgia 23 Herschel Walker held to just over 100 yards, one of his worst games as a collegian (he truly was one of the absolute best players in college football history!). Penn State wins the national title!!!! What made this one special was the fact that I was there to witness it.
  7. Reed. I like Moulds, but Reed was special. Great route runner with reliable hands (save the Pepper Johnson-influenced 'alligator arms' he had in Super Bowl XXV).
  8. If you have an urge to talk Bills, here's a novel approach: TALK BILLS!!!! Start a thread, offer an opinion. Somebody, probably me, will answer.
  9. Humor them.
  10. Ditto, except much louder.
  11. What's a cowbell?
  12. Just off the top of my head, I can think of two guys who are WAY better than Allen at this point in their careers: Steve Hutchinson of Seattle and Kynan Forney of Atlanta. Hutchinson is perhaps playing better than any guard in the NFL with the exception of Alan Faneca of Pittsburgh. What a disgrace.
  13. Most people only think of the heavyweight division when they think of boxing. That's a shame. The lighter weights almost always have the best athletes and the most technically refined boxers. The heavyweights do have exceptions to the rule (Jack Johnson, Joe Louis, Gene Tunney, Jack Dempsey, Muhammad Ali, etc.), but more often than not, they aren't the best athletes or boxers. They're just the biggest.
  14. How the heck is Larry Allen the leading vote getter among guards???? It seems they don't even bother to watch when it comes to linemen. They just get in on name recognition. That's crap.
  15. The problem with the salaries is that the money is being made, so if the players don't get it, who does? Owners? TV?
  16. Talent left boxing????? I suppose you mean the heavyweight division. In that case, it's been a LOT longer than 5 years. As for the lighter weights, there's so much talent out there! I seriously considered buying the 3rd Morales-Barrerra fight when it was on recently. Those 2 are an example of talented fighters who are great to watch. Check out guys like Bernard Hopkins and Antonio Tarver who alse epitomize talented boxers. There's way more talent out there than you realize.
  17. You might be referring to Barkley's 3 over David Robinson that did in San Antonio while he was in Phoenix, the 3 that sent them to the NBA Finals. Mario Elie made a 3 that sent Phoenix packing and completed a 4-3 series win after being down 3-1.
  18. Maybe the TBD coaches will vote you in.
  19. I'd take college basketball over the pros any time. That doesn't mean that ALL pro basketball is boring. Like Kelly said in his initial post, watch a good team like Phoenix play and there's no way you can say ALL of the NBA games are boring and that nobody plays team basketball anymore.
  20. Good post, TravelingDad48. Spikes probably will be there along with Fletcher. Fletcher's performance this year has gone noticed by many in the media, and I think he'll get his due this time. Adams should go, as he has been very good this year. Williams has been spotty and is not as legitimate a candidate as The Keg. Moorman is going to get squeezed out again in a tough, competitive race for the lone punter spot. It's like how the WRs in the NFC used to be so stocked and it was hard to break through. I'm also rooting for McGee, who has certainly done enough on the field to earn a shot at the Pro Bowl. We'll see what happens later on. Offense? Nobody. McGahee hasn't had enough time in and Shelton had an atrocious start to the season, though he is playing much better right now. Moulds has been okay, I just don't know if he's done enough for a Pro Bowl bid.
  21. Mobley was just too inconsistent. He was good for 25 one night, 8 the next. Franchise and Yao seemed to be developing a nice chemistry together. When the grossly overhyped 1st meeting between Yao and Shaq took place, it was Franchise who was the star, making the plays in overtime to help give Houston the win and finishing up with 45 points, or something close to it.
  22. Way to go! I'm in the championship game in 2 leagues this coming week and a semifinal game in another. I'd sure love to end up with 3 league champions out of my 13 teams.
  23. Congrats on getting that far. My team was hamstrung by lackluster stats from Clinton Portis and a few others. Oh well, maybe next year I'll do better. I certainly can't do much worse. From 4th to dead last.........ugh!
  24. I really do feel that the team that finishes the NFL championship game with the most points is a lock to take the title.
