This thread will be opened at 9:00am on the day of the draft. The TBD 3 Round Mock Draft will start Monday, March 14th 2005 at 9:00am. Since some people may have difficulty using the chat room, we will do a threaded draft. There will be some rules that will be STRICTLY adhered to in the interest of keeping the draft from becoming too time consuming. TIME LIMITS For the first round, you will have a maximum of 5 minutes to make your selection. Trades are allowed, as long as the agreed upon trade is submitted within your 5 minute time limit. For both the second and third rounds, you will have a maximum of 3 minutes to make your selection or to submit an agreed upon trade. Everyone is welcome to participate. Please be mindful of the other participants, though. We want this draft to be successful and run smoothly, so if you have any concerns about having the time to participate, please PM me before we begin. Any GM that fails to submit a pick or agreed upon trade in their allotted time will FORFEIT THEIR PICK! Unlike the previous drafts, GMs will be able to select from ALL available teams. In the past, we did a consensus pick for Buffalo. Not this year. Like the other teams, Buffalo will be available on a first come, first serve basis starting at 9:00am tomorrow. This should keep the mock draft moving smoothly, as we won't have to wait for others to vote on Buffalo's pick. If there are any other questions or concerns about the mock draft, feel free to PM me. Have fun! DRAFT ORDER 1. San Fransisco (GM: BillsGuyInMalta) *1st round: Aaron Rodgers, QB California *2nd round: David Baas, G/C Michigan 2. Well, that was the Rick James treatment.

It's us or the lions for Demulling

The name you don't see mentioned on TBD. What about this guy? I hear he's pretty good and can help our offensive line. -
Do New Browns have worst 1st round run

But....but......but......but........they had Carmen Policy AND Dwight Clark running the team then. How could they fail? -
So, which team does Mr. play for?
-
Great legs beats them both.
-
The fact that they went after Bell was questionable to me because their play at LB over the past couple seasons is one of the main reasons their defense has stunk. If Bell is past his injury problems, and that's a serious if, they may have made a good deal. It just leaves too many questions.

I'll be interested to see a guy I thought they might look to take last year, Shawn Andrews, to see how he recovered from his season-ending injury he suffered in training camp. Before the injury, he was a monster! I still vividly remember when the Iggles (team that drafted him) played the Titans in the preseason and Andrews simply dominated the Titans' D-line. If he can come back anywhere near that level, Philly will have one heck of an OL, one that the Browns could've taken. -
So, how about doing the picnic some time in either May or June? Sound good to you guys?
-
This again??

You are crazy, but not that far off in this post. Who can tell what goes on w/the Bills' coaches anyway? Maybe they really do believe Peters can, at the very least, compete for the starting spot. And, who's to say they aren't right?
-
He's just doing it wrong, Horus. JP-era, what you need to do is just find some 'news' that has been reported on the Wall and re-report it. Over and over and over and over and over and over. Nobody will pick on you then.
-
He's not the only one who missed that, it seems.
-
What team does Mr. Hillaird play for?
-
You could probably trade him for the CFL.

You make a good point about the DT issue. As for the OL, I've said numerous times we need depth and talent. There is no getting around that and they need to address it this offseason, whether through the draft, free agency, or both. So far, they've signed one interior OL who projects to be a backup. If we're hanging on the words of McNally, then we believe that they're also looking for an upgrade at center, since MnNally himself has talked of Teague being tried at LT (from what other posts have said). That only makes sense, because although Teague improved in terms of line calls and shotgun snaps, he still looked way overmatched against bigger DTs when pass blocking and did not get a good push in the running game. Drafting a guy like Chris Spencer of Ole Miss or Jason Brown of North Carolina, two guys who are very strong in the interior, could help in terms of stopping bigger DTs, which are becoming more prevalent in the NFL nowadays. Getting back to DT. If they decide to look at the available free agents (even after the June cap cuts) or make a trade, I could see it. As for the draft, this draft is not very strong in DTs. There's a couple good ones and the rest are average at best. I would take a flyer on a prospect like Lynn McGruder of Oklahoma, who is gifted athletically but considered a bit of an underachiever, and I wouldn't do that until after the 3rd round. The water wasn't so cold.

Stop being so damned good natured, VA. It's unlike you.

No.

He had a negative MRI, but nobody knows to date how serious it is. He did look good at the combine though. Still, he has a laundry list of disciplinary problems, so I'd be wary of drafting him. Then again, it could be all in the past for him. I was surprised at how well Rob Hunt of North Dakota State did. I had heard about him on Matt & Marty's site as a possible sleeper, but he blew people away at the combine. He could be one of the best centers in this draft now. The love affair w/Ben Wilkerson still puzzles me, as he has done NOTHING since his season-ending injury, and, to the best of my knowledge, LSU hasn't even scheduled a day for him to work out for scouts. He didn't participate in the combine. Spencer looked very good, as did Baas. I really hope we land a center from this crop of good choices.

Why I'm Satisfied with where we are on OL
R. Rich replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People keep referencing Tillman and Flowers (what a stupid last name) as proof positive that you never draft for need. Tennessee took the 'best available' athlete last year by drafting TE Ben Troupe, regardless of the fact that they had already drafted 2 other TEs in recent years (Shad Meier, Erron Kinney). How'd that work for the Titans? My point is, it's not a 'never draft for need' or a 'never draft best available' scenario. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. -
He just wants all the credit, SouthTownBills51. Don't listen to him. He tried that same crap w/me last year.
-
I hope you're not considering my mind as great. I'm sorry if you are. Here's how I would rate the centers. I still have Baas as a guard, where he's the 2nd best player behind Elton Brown. Top centers: Chris Spencer of Mississippi Jason Brown of North Carolina Ben Wilkerson of LSU (he'd be first were it not for the injuries) Scott Mruczkowski of Bowling Green Vince Carter of Oklahoma Junius Coston of North Carolina A&T Dylan Gandy of Texas Tech Richie Incognito of Nebraska Geoff Hangartner of Texas A&M Jeb Paulsen of North Carolina State

I hope seadog doesn't hate that post. You shouldn't hate, seadog.
-
I'm not too thrilled about Teague at LT. I do like the idea of getting one of the top centers in the draft. I wouldn't stop there, though. I'd also go after a top notch guard prospect as well. Depth AND talent is needed in the interior of our OL.

Who do you think pays the rather large legal fees of Ahr & Ahr & Associates?
