  3. Who's here for round 3 today?
  4. Round 3 is now underway! We begin w/pick #65, belonging to the 49ers. San Fransisco is now on the clock.
  5. All mock GMs please report to the Mock Draft forum so we can begin. If you cannot be there, please PM me a list of people to draft from on your behalf.
  6. Thanks, but I can't even try to take any credit. It really is all his. I'm just hoping I can attend the banquet for the award, which is in Atlantic City. I'm not sure if it's open to the public or not, but if it is, I'm there. When my Mother became a member of the SES (Senior Executive Service) at Social Security, there weren't any family members allowed to that ceremony, but since it was at the White House and was conducted by then-VP Al Gore, I guess there were security concerns. Even though there are a number of high profile media people who are getting awards, I wouldn't think that security would be so much an issue that the public, especially family members of the honorees, aren't allowed to attend.
  7. That place is always packed. I first went there when I was stationed at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Miss. back in the summer of '88. The Hurricane drinks are pretty strong. I still have a few Hurricane glasses from there. They'll pack your glass up after you finish your drink; it'll take time to wait in line though. DPR4444 mentioned Cajun Mike's for red beans and rice. That sounds great! Both my wife and I love red beans and rice, so if we get to go there this year for the Bills game, that's going to be on the itinerary. Mulate's is a good place to go also, if you enjoy Cajun food/music.
  8. My wife loves beignets! We had our honeymoon at Disney World and stayed at the Port Orleans resort. They had a restaurant there that made very good beignets.
  9. Yeah, that's what I meant. You'll find some great info on there. The Big Easy is so much more than the Quarter.
  10. He was decent. He certainly wasn't anything special, but he didn't kill us, either. I still remember the slant pass he caught in the game against New England (in '96 @ RICH) that went for a TD. That was also the game where Bruuuuuce had 3 sacks against Bledsoe, one of them had Bruuuce hanging on Drew as if he were getting a piggyback ride from him.
  11. If you're staying somewhere down near the French Quarter, make sure you check to see if the hotel has a local "travel channel" that will give you info on great sights to see and places to eat that are OUTSIDE the Quarter. Check those out, even if it costs you some cab fare (unless you have a rental or are driving). It's worth it. Do the whole Quarter experience first, just to say you've been there, then go out and see the other sights.
  12. Yeah, it does. He's one heck of a reporter. He's been offered jobs in other places before, but he says he won't leave until he gets an offer that will allow him to do the kind of work he's doing now. He's not leaving just to go to a larger paper and start over.
  13. There's no picture on the site, knucklehead. Anyway, he's not nearly as big as I am. He goes about 6-4 and 220.
  14. I don't think broadcast journalism is something he's ever going to be into. I could be wrong, but he's never really looked too kindly on TV and radio news.
  15. You applied for a job at the Erie Times?
  16. My brother and a co-worker have won 2nd place in a national news award competition. I know I'm not the wordsmith he is, but I did put a new entry into my blog about it. Well done! National Headliner Awards link (their award is listed under "Investigative Reporting")
  17. Inspired by. The last one was really good; it was the author's take on what might happen in Episode 3. Sure, I'll read yours. Although I normally read a lot of nonfiction, I do like to read just about anything that's well written. I'll give it a shot.
  18. Getting back to the topic at hand, I read a couple scripts someone did on another site. They were Star Wars-related and quite good, I thought.
  19. Bruschi has to deal w/a hole in his heart and a stroke while TMEP gets to continue his "search for the real killers" at golf courses in Florida??? Damn.
  20. There's always the next time.
  21. Alcohol and old age. What a combo. That wouldn't have been a problem 10 years and 100 lbs ago. Oh well. The damage was minor (had a limp for about 5-6 days).
  22. Unfortunately, yes. How bad was it? Well, I still believed that, at 6-6 and 330lbs, I could hop over the fence in front of Duff's in Orchard Park (the one surrounding the outside bar). I was close, but...
  23. As long as he doesn't try to buy you shots of tequilla to wash down a couple pitchers of beer, you'll be okay tgreg99.
  24. So that's why I haven't heard from you since that trip to RICHmond!
