  1. I agree that last year the Jets became a matchup problem for us, but I wasn’t surprised as Joe Douglas built them with that exact result in mind. He knows that winning the division is always job one after all. But the Bills, on paper at least, addressed two key factors in the matchup issue by improving the O line and adding a viable outlet threat in Kincaid. Double TE sets with two legit receiving threats at the position can give teams like the Jets problems. But the OL must hold their own for it to work, obviously.
  2. Yep. Always been a player’s league and always will be.

Can you link us to all your posts saying this last year? You know, before anyone had 20/20 hindsight on the matter?

My discussion with @Docassumes Araiza is not on trial given the exculpatory evidence in the DA’s report. It pertains only to other potential defendants.

Araiza is the plaintiff attorney’s only cash cow it seems. And since he wasn't at the location of the alleged gang rape at the time it was alleged to have happened, I don’t understand why the civil suit against Araiza hasn’t been dropped. Previous reports indicated that the police know whose DNA was recovered in the rape kit analysis, so I wonder if it’s as simple as those other guys claiming it was someone else.

I think we’ve already agreed on that. And in a criminal case you could really hammer that home. But in a civil case, that hospital report and rape kit results might be much trickier to navigate. As I asked previously, how often do women who like rough sex end up in ER rooms being treated for injury and administered a rape kit exam? Something clearly got out of hand. How much of an onus is on the men to recognize that and stop? What’s a reasonable expectation? I honestly don’t know, but I could see a lawyer exploring the concept.

Perhaps when the civil suit is resolved? Araiza still has that very real legal matter to focus on at the moment. Watch out for that windmill!

That’s certainly a possibility and shouldn’t be discounted. I wonder how many women who are into rough sex end up going to the hospital, get treated for bleeding vaginas, bruises, abrasions, and get rape kit examinations that show the presence of DNA from multiple men.

I can say it because my experience as a 63 year, life long citizen in this country has proved it over and over and over again. I think your level of cynicism has a lot to do with your lack of faith in your fellow countrymen.

True. But the hospital report and rape kit results that show something bad happened to that girl are real facts nonetheless.

So you have to be a Bills fan to accept the DA report? You have to be a Bills fan to realize that Araiza was falsely accused and deserves a second chance? People who don’t know the first thing about the Bills and the NFL can sympathize with a young man falsely accused and harmed by the accusation. People have been falsely accused of and pilloried for far worse only to be forgiven by the populace that believed it initially. Have a little faith in your fellow citizens.

I agree that her having sexual intercourse with multiple partners that night may have indeed been consensual, but her wounds certainly suggest it got out of hand given the trauma observed during her examination. Do you dismiss the hospital report and published rape kit results? How could she lie about that?

He’s gonna get second chances once the legal issues are resolved. Does this forum, this thread, represent the opinions of the populace? If so, and I think it does, he will be exonerated by a majority portion of the populace who realize he was wrongly accused of participating in a gang rape. I submit that will be the preponderant narrative going forward. We’ll see.

Certainly his career has been put on hold, but we can’t yet say it’s been ruined forever. Given the DA’s report, there’s good reason for him to be hopeful once the civil suit is either dropped or resolved.

As it pertains to the defendants in the civil case yes, absolutely. My only point she didn’t seem to lie about going thru a traumatic sexual assault given the hospital report and rape kit results released by the SDPD.

And it was due process that ultimately proved Araiza wasn’t present at the time of the alleged gang rape.

As it pertains to Matt Araiza, her lawyer’s best financial target in a civil case, absolutely. The exculpatory evidence showing he wasn't even there at the time of the alleged gang rape cannot be denied and I hope the accuser’s lawyer has the good sense to drop the case against him as, even though the bar for conviction in a civil proceeding is much much lower, the DA’s report makes it a very high hurdle imo. But I don’t think she was lying about the hospital visit, treatment for bruises, bleeding from her *****, the rape kit exam, and the results of that rape kit test released by the SDPD that showed the presence of DNA from multiple sources. Not even her lawyer, whom I blame entirely for the untruths put forth by her, could bull#### that aspect of the story.

No, they didn’t. Because nobody knew whether the allegations were false or not at the time.

Speaking of which, given the amount of exculpatory evidence just furnished for use by his defense attorney, I’m surprised we haven’t heard anything from the plaintiff’s lawyer yet. He couldn’t keep his mouth shut previously. I look for him to drop the case against Araiza soon.

If I were him, I’d sign with the team that presents the best opportunity. Given our situation with Martin, that’s probably not in Buffalo. But stranger things have happened, that’s for sure.

That’s all well and good, but he’s a free agent at the moment, regardless.

He’s free to sign with any team as he has been since the Bills waived him. We don’t hold any exclusive rights so he’s not ours for the league to give back.
