  1. Me, too. Like I said earlier, the odds of him getting called for defensive holding are improved by 50%. I like those odds. He would have the refs stumped; they would need a hand trying to figure him out.
  2. I don't think he's Edelman's type at all, given his affection for Tom Brady.
  3. I don't think it could get released in this day and age. This day and age has become too politically correct to appreciate the kind of satire intended by Richard Pryor and Mel Brooks. Comedians and other satirists won't play college venues because of the off the rails "outrage" at the points they are driving home. When books like Huckleberry Finn can't be taught in schools or when educators are fired for using words that students and parents don't know the meaning of, it's little wonder.
  4. Show a racist character and the movie is racist? Show a mean cop and the movie is about bad cops? We need to look deeper into what a writer may be trying to get at. For me, ‘Three Billboards‘ is about the juxtaposition of anger and empathy and how the true experience of either can sometimes be interdependent. It’s just too easy to pigeonhole stories these days when they hit upon hot topical political subjects that we have strong emotions towards.
  5. The draft is nothing if not about taking risks. That should be self evident given the sheer amount of picks that don’t pan out as hoped. No guts, no glory as the saying goes.
  6. That’s really not the point though, is it? Having the conviction about the prospect comes first, being wrong and second guessed comes later.
  7. Thanks. Love to see the big uglies with that kind of explosion, especially.
  8. When it comes to getting a player you’ve identified as a blue chip, can’t miss, franchise-turning-around, perennial All Pro? Yeah, it’s that simple.
  9. I haven’t seen a stitch of the combine until today and not much at that, just the second group of QBs. Has anybody tested “in the red” yet? I suspect Barkley is up there given his bench and vertical, but don’t have his or anybody else’s full results.
  10. Love this time of year. Everybody media hack with a twitter account is a scout and can’t wait to tweet his next breathless hot take. My one hot take concerning the QBs we’ve seen today? These receivers can’t run simple cone routes to save their lives. Oh, and Rosen continues to show why he’s been atop the leader board since last fall.
  11. I’m not really assuming anything, the Vikes could just as well win it all, too. All I’m saying is that after a conference championship appearance, anything less than a repeat and a win to advance to the SB will be considered a let down. I imagine there will be a certain pressure that comes with being the highest paid player in history and that compounds the expectations as well.
  12. That’s an awesome quote. I draft him based on that alone.
  13. On to a new regime indeed. It’s all about the journey. At least that’s what I keep telling myself
  14. While I think this is true, signing Cousins may be a double edged sword as anything less than a SB after reaching the conference championship will be viewed as no progress at best. And after signing what will probably a record deal, how will teammates and fans alike view that outcome?
  15. Being a professional never hurts and Whaley has always enjoyed that reputation. I’d give him a job but I’d insist on intense media training as part of the deal. He simply cannot get all flustered by the Jerry Sullivans of the world, get pissed, and lose focus like he was prone to do under the glare of media scrutiny. That said, Sully and several others were less than professional on several occasions, in other venues like bars and restaurants over the years so I can see why he had such a short fuse when it came to them.
  16. Whaley was told two things after that season ended: You won’t be part of the search and hiring process for the new HC. You will be let go after the draft but we will make it worth your while to stay and complete the offseason evaluation processes already underway for both the college and free agent prospects. This incentive applied to everyone involved on both the college and pro personnel side. Whaley and Co. chose to see those processes through.
  17. I connected the dots and if they don’t build the new stadium at Letchworth, they are dead to me. I have too much tied up in speculative land deals along the Rt. 36 corridor.
  18. Good stuff. Reminds me of the old axiom: history isn’t about what happened, it’s about the telling of what happened. And that should prompt the intellectually curious among us to dig deeper for the accounts and records that aren’t popularly presented. Information is out there.
  19. Per the bolded, if there are no other teams looking to snag him, sure, that may be enough for Denver and maybe even the Giants at two. But it boils down to how much competition there is from other teams seeking Rosen and how much they drive up the price. Personally, I feel he is the best QB prospect in the draft so I can’t see Cleveland or the Giants passing on him, anyway.
  20. You may want to temper it a bit as I’m sure every team seeking to draft a QB is also salivating at the chance to get him; teams with top 5-10 picks to dangle as part of a package. If there’s a bidding war, I suspect we will have to jump up twice to get it done and that may involve a ton of future draft capital to invest. Not saying we shouldn’t do it, but Rosen’s talent just may require that commitment in order to acquire.
