  1. Why hasn't any team found another Bruce Smith? Like great QBs, they are rare players and hard to find. That simple.
  2. If that skin rash is contagious, I don't want him any where near that locker room.
  3. That would give us three Rasmuses. The Rasmi?
  4. Awesome story. Great perspective for everyone to appreciate.
  5. Not necessarily. There are a number of ways to get to #7 without including #22. Heck, 12 and 53 gets us there on the value chart alone. Not saying Tampa Bay wouldn't want more, but we are above 1500 with just 12 and 53. Throw in #65 and we are well above the value chart price. And we'd STILL have picks in rounds 3 through 6 in a deep draft. And that's without dangling anything in the '19 draft. The scenario very much exists.
  6. Everything is 20 minutes away.
  7. McDole was on the roster, but I'm not sure he got a lot of playing time in '63 and I was only 4 at the time. I got Torczan's name from a program handed out to the statisticians in the press box (my dad kept the rushing stats).
  8. Good call on Schwenke. I'd take him over Joeckel.
  9. I always wondered what happened to that guy in the Raiders jersey waving the Iraqi flag.
  10. Billy Shaw: only HOF player that never played in the NFL.
  11. Depends how quickly he adapts to working from under center. Not an insignificant procedure.
  12. If it's anyone other than Rosen, I would not be in favor of him starting this year.
  13. Yes, there have always been outliers. Like the Steelers' draft in 1974, for instance. But over the course of history, the success/failure rates of drafts for every team is very similar.
  14. Yeah, I hear that. I don't put much stock into ceiling projections. To my way of thinking, those guys will need a couple seasons, minimum, to get to where Rosen already is in terms of readiness and I also think Rosen will improve as well. Even though he is taking off from a much higher elevation.
  15. Not getting carried away in the least. Davis was fantastic between Hull and Ballard and deserved the same kind of recognition. He seldom needed help which made Hull's job that much easier. And nobody is canonizing anyone. That line was simply one of the top lines in history over the course of several seasons in both the running game and pass protection. None of our OLines since have come close to that kind of proficiency in both disciplines. I'll just agree to disagree that our OLine has been just as good over the last decade. But I'm sure the Vlad Ducasses of the bunch appreciate the tip of the hat. And Jim Richter would be exactly what he was if he never played in a SB; a damned good LG who garnered Pro Bowl recognition.
  16. This is an interesting concept. There certainly is a consensus that Rosen is the most NFL-ready QB coming out so is it a prospect's ceiling (potential) that makes him the best? Hard to quantify future projections.
  17. Gretzky's junior team, too.
  18. If only building a team were a linear process where you start with A, end in Z, and B through Y are all there in successive order year after year. I'd rather give up next year's 1st rather than our 2nd this year. Know value vs. unknown value.
  19. That remodeled kitchen sure looks nice attached to that shanty.
  20. In fairness, aren't you assuming the same about any other position player you take instead of a QB? Is it any more of a guarantee that 1st round OL, LB, WR, etc., is going to pan out?
