  1. Wrong. There has been debate on the subject for decades.
  2. The playing of the national anthem before sporting events violates the solemnity of the the anthem itself. It serves to cheapen rather than glorify. And the NFL further cheapens it by accepting money to stage these phony displays of "patriotism." Sinclair Lewis was right.
  3. I disagree. No creature on earth poops more happily than when its pooping on a Gleason column. Just can't achieve the same level of satisfaction. It is known.
  4. Darn. I'm running out of columns to line the bird cage with .
  5. How the F can anyone, ANYONE, screw up the Browns?
  6. I’d rather be lucky than good as the old saying goes.
  7. Screw that bum. I wouldn’t want that trash on my team, regardless.
  8. I can understand the “ceiling” thing, but Do some QBs have more room for improvement than others? Imo, yes. Josh Allen’s potential has barely been scratched given his limited exposure to coaching, camps, experience, etc., whearas Rosen has been on the star QB track since high school. Rosen is leaps and bounds ahead in those areas. Yes, Rosen can still improve and improve a lot, but given their relative starting points, Allen has more room.
  9. Great point here! And while I’ve heard that old Buffalo money has been cool, if not resentful to the Pegulas investment in the area, I think they are uniquely positioned to leverage some other relationships.
  10. No surprise at all. Rosen had been considered the most pro ready college QB since last August when the scouting books were opened up and the work began in earnest. Nothing has changed that since. But he is closer to his ceiling than anyone else, too, so it will be interesting to see how quickly he levels off relative to the improvement of the other top prospects.
  11. That’s why I value your expertise. A creative marketer can create revenue producing experiences for the fans. I still think corporate dollars are critical though, and I worry about our market being tapped out in that regard.
  12. Isn't that more a function of the local corporate dollars available than anything else? Or is there an untapped well of corporate money just waiting to buy up suites and sponsor opportunities in WNY?
  13. Oh, it was a stake all right; a MIStake.
  14. Yep. Right after poking it once with a stick.
  15. I agree with that. But the issue of the employee being free to work elsewhere isn’t germane, imo. I’d like to look into some settled case law on the issue. Lot of interesting facets.
  16. I wonder if there are settled precedents regarding the issue. I’ll have to see.
  17. Sure, but that wouldn’t be the issue if it was contested in court.
  18. Right. Which is why I made the earlier point about certain players having their ability to be employed by the NFL impacted more than others.
  19. Like I said, I don’t want to overthink the hypothetical here.
  20. So contract law trumps his protected right of free exercise of religion? It would be an interesting case.
  21. That’s how Jeffrey Dahmer got started.
  22. I’m just asking the question about whether he could be compelled even though his religious beliefs are a preotected right. I don’t want to get into the weeds about whether he should be an NFL player or not. Let’s not over think this.
  23. If you want to be technical, the Sabbath includes Friday as well.
  24. Good point regarding their status as at will employees. Suffice to say, depending on the star status of a player, some would have their ability to be employed impacted less than others.
  25. I seem to recall something about that. I’ll do a little research.
