  1. I'd rather see Allen, but Peterman has had an entire year of NFL experience, which is comprised of more than just the games he played. He's had a year of meetings, learning defenses, and breaking down opponents' schemes. That's invaluable. You raise a great point about McCarron as he's very familiar with the Ravens given his experience in Cinci. But, given our sieve-like OL, I think the premium is on that QB that can get the ball out faster than anyone else. Right now, that's Peterman for better or worse.
  2. I don’t think you can have development without trying to win.
  3. I agree we have many holes to fill. None of them more glaring than our lack of an elite edge rusher who can manufacture pressure on his own. We will have to use an early pick to find that guy anyway, assuming he’s even there when it’s our turn to pick in the first place. And even then we’d be drafting a prospect who hasn’t proved anything at the next level, let alone been named All Pro at multiple positions and defensive MVP. Other than on a blue chip QB (which we already have, ostensibly), I can’t think of a better use of “draft capital.”
  4. Still a genius move by the Pats***. That's all you can say.
  5. Um, that's the line that played the first half.
  6. Be nice if your OLine could play 2nd and 3rd team players all year. Think Ducasse sees a little difference between Geno Atkins and whoever his backups are?
  7. Except playing vs. 2nd stringers wasn't a factor. He was more decisive with his keys and hitting his gaps; much quicker to the ball.
  8. Perhaps Edmunds' best series as a pro so far.
  9. Hoping Daboll can scheme around the OL shortcomings. Tall order to be sure.
  10. Shades of Texans and David Carr. We will ruin this kid unless we fix that OL. That simple.
  11. OJ's rookie year against the Colts, his first game in Buffalo. 10 years old doing gopher duties for the press box personnel and not being able to wait to see OJ; the whole city was anticipating his Buffalo debut. The statisticians and scouts in the press box weren't impressed. Everybody came out to see OJ, but everybody left talking about Robert James, the UDFA out of Fisk.
  12. Not so much with watching the games so much as hearing what others have to say about it in today's saturated media market. It's incessant and uninformed far too often. Very few voices left that can actually enlighten the viewing experience with insight.
  13. How about having a press conference and seeing tripe?
  14. I'd love it if that becomes a reality. Manboobs Williams is simply not HC material. Never has been.
  15. I'd rather have this Peterman than Allen Peterman.
  16. Please indeed. Your condescending tone aside, I'm aware of the changes the league has undergone in the 31 years since we acquired Bennett. What, PRECISELY, is the value difference between a 27 year old All Pro at the second most critical position vs. that of a future draft pick? When you can quantify that value and answer that with certainty perhaps I'll change my position that the trade dynamics surrounding the acquisition of a premier player in his prime at the second most critical position have changed for teams whose salary cap situation doesn't prohibit such an acquisition for the next several seasons.
  17. I fully understand the concept you raise. I just don't buy that GMs necessarily value future draft picks so much more than proven All Pros in their athletic prime. Besides, it's a dynamic equation. Mack will have more value to some vs. others relative to their current team situations. Given the amount of teams involved in the bidding, I'll be surprised if he doesn't fetch two firsts at minimum. We are talking GMs who see Mack as their final piece on D perhaps; the guy that can change it all overnight; the immediate cost benefit vs. future value. I just don't think these new formulas are as cut and dried when it comes to acquiring an elite player at a critical position in a league where pressuring the QB is at a premium.
  18. Running backs may have been devalued, but edge rushers who can manufacture pressure on their own certainly haven't. What LA was able to extract is immaterial to what we obtained. I think it's a good question for Colts fans though. You raise a good point here in that it would be nice if we can get another team involved in the transaction as it would make it more palatable for Oakland to deal him to us perhaps.
  19. Murph was not alone. There was another guy who hated the Bennett trade but for all the right reasons. Don Shula. He knew that changed the AFC East immediately and he said as much.
