It was great recognition because he saw the safety move up on the shorter route while he was keeping his eyes downfield while under duress and moving around trying to buy extra time. I disagree that most QBs would have seen and done the same thing because week after week for decades I've seen too many QBs NOT do that very same thing.

As good as the throw and catch were, it was even better recognition by Darnold. He's good.

Well, they aren't finished doing that evaluation, but the answer to all your questions is the "why" of it all. They don't have the luxury of just saying this guy's horrible, that guy sucks, etc., they have to ascribe a reason for it and impart that to their players and, more importantly, understanding the "why" of it all helps them to craft solutions moving forward. Tough task given the dearth of talent on this team though.

I'm going to predict that Asplund makes the big club this year. He's well seasoned after three full seasons as a pro in Sweden and is better than anyone else we can slot in as a 4th line center. Good-bye Larsson.

It's gone beyond just not being entitled to answers. If a coach doesn't show the same level of outrage and mirror the emotions of the fans on his sleeve, he's got to go in the opinion of some. McD may have to go for a lot of reasons given what he's shown his first 17 games at the helm (and he's been far from perfect), but not going apeschit at the podium after bad losses because that's how we feel, is far from one of them.

I understand. Just be prepared for further disappointment.

But he does need to look at the tape. Viewed in the context of the game situation and play call, it will reveal a ton of information about individual performance. And you know that as well as anyone. Like I said, his personality doesn't lend itself to the kind of outrage we need to see and hear from him publicly; it's the same story after every blowout loss and there have been several now. My bigger concern is how flat this team looked coming out. That's on the coaches as well as the players. He just may not be head coach material.

Are you angry because he said he had to look at the tape or because he will look at the tape? Because he, as do all the coaches and players, certainly needs to look at the tape; they'd be derelict in their duties if they didn't. I understand how McDermott's milquetoast act can wear thin, especially after the several total blowout losses we've witnessed since he became coach, but if anyone expects his level of public outrage to rise to the level of the fan base, that's just not going to happen. His personality doesn't lend itself to that kind of display. Better get used to being insulted if that's how you take it.

I'm a firm believer that if you can "invest" your "draft capital" into known perennial All Pro players, you should do it. Bears did the right thing. They have no friggen idea what player at what position is going to be available when they pick next year and in 2020. They know Mack is an All Pro impact player at two positions. Easy decision for them to make, imo .

And where's it written that draft capital has to be spent on draft picks vs. established All Pros?

No GM in his right mind will EVER give up multiple first round picks for Mack. Draft capital is too important in today's age. LMAO! This is what it looks like when a trade singlehandedly changes the balance of power in a division.
